Labour isn't working - Thread 12

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Yep.
They also encourage disruption from within!
But seemingly I am tin foil hat for highlighting this 🙄

Don’t worry about it. I think people are mad not to consider the capability of AI and use of data in a digital ID scheme. It’s already happening with bank account scanning for benefits and not a dicky bird because it’s Starmer and Labour.

Seemingly so......this is how Farage must feel 🤣🤣

But how would you know what ‘usual lurkers’ are saying unless you are lurking on other threads yourself?

Ever heard of people sending PMs? I have zero interest in that thread. Why would I do what you do and lurk on a thread whose premise is something I fundamentally disagree with?

You only ever pop up yourself to cause shit

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about this subject:

@twistyizzy I’m sorry this stuff is landing here, there’s enough to deal with with Starmer and co already.

Sorry wrong quote. Was meant to be Absentosaur

Yeah I saw that. Benefits as a lifestyle not a need. If that doesn’t change, we’ll never get fewer migrants or fewer benefit braggers. Why would we, they can see a good thing. Paid for by anyone but them.

Sir Tony Blair met with Jeffrey Epstein in Downing Street while still prime minister, following lobbying by Lord Peter Mandelson, the BBC has confirmed.

At the time, Lord Mandelson was a backbench MP, having twice resigned from the cabinet, but still a force in Labour.

Tony Blair met Jeffrey Epstein while prime minister

The ex-PM confirms he met Epstein in 2002, six years before the financier pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Hello everybody

It's been a full on week. Probably just as well as everything political is making me irate. I was a lot happier when I tried not to look at this stuff.

So I have completely missed what their excuses for wanting 13-year-olds to have digital ID

I might have a quick look online now to try and catch up or I might watch some comedy. The latter is probably the better option!

The only thing I did see today that gave me the rage was the Canterbury Cathedral art installation. Funnily enough, I was thinking about going to church this weekend. I have actually never been to a church in the area I live in now. Well, I'm not religious so that's not particularly surprising but I used to do some volunteering attached to my old place

That so-called art installation really made me think - imagine if you went into the cathedral for a bit of respite from the crazy world and you saw that. Ugh.

Anyway, on the one hand I can accept that is about personal choice, on the other hand I find it striking that so many institutions go in for this rubbish.

EmeraldRoulette · 10/10/2025 21:42

@twistyizzy that article seems to be the saying the complete opposite of what you're saying.

Apologies if I'm being thick

I was actually wondering what we can do about the judiciary. I mean, if we've got to the point where we want to withdraw from the EHRC, that is a massive sign that the judiciary are just taking the piss. As well as all the other problems with the judiciary. I have no idea how we could go about tackling such deep seated problems.

Honestly, it feels like wherever I go, I'm surrounded by corruption and/or ugliness

I'm encountering a certain degree of corruption in my working life as well. Everything feels like the same problem everywhere you go.

I tried creating a thread about work and all the problems that are running through work at the moment, as in running through work culture as a whole, but no one knew what the hell I was talking about even with my first example.

My ex has spent a lot of time living in other countries and he used to tell me, even just a couple of years ago, that nothing works in the UK. He's right, but I wonder if other countries are having the same issues. So much of it is to do with the early adoption of technology that nobody really understands - and that nobody has thought through in terms of proper user experience and HCI - it does make me wonder if those problems are global. He thinks not because he's had better experiences working in other countries. That said, he's mostly been in the UK since 2020 and that does seem to be when it all really turned shit.

LupaMoonhowl · 10/10/2025 21:43

Wow - have been away for a week with no new so lots on here to digest.
What I’ve noticed in RL is that people are much more open now to opposing Labour and the lefty orthodoxy and looking for sanity and common sense

TheNuthatch · 10/10/2025 21:43

@EmeraldRoulette There is an article upthread about ID for children if you scroll back. Although watching some comedy sounds like a better option.
I just googled that art installation. Its bloody awful. I can't see why anyone would want to see graffiti when visiting a cathedral. I certainly don't.
