A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks @TheNuthatch

Early post to say how much I despise the Labour government. And how much more I despise the self-regarding half-wits who argue for it (with one or two honourable MN exceptions).

Feels like the Labour Party conference is a vacation from reality. Saw a clip of Rachel on the BBC crowing about a library in every primary school. It’s such a small thing. A rounding error. That’s all she’s got?! Fiddling while Rome burns.

EasternStandard · 29/09/2025 22:36

Thanks @TheNuthatchgood stuff. Filling up faster these days thanks to Starmer, Reeves and co

CaveMum · 29/09/2025 22:48

Thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch

We see, to be gathering new posters at a steady rate, whether they are long-time shy conservatives (like me) or people who are newly disenchanted with the current shower, I don’t know.

Either way, pull up a chair - we’re a broadly tolerant bunch 😜

Parsley4321 · 29/09/2025 23:04

@TheNuthatch this is a seriously speedy thread we are going wild with disdain 🤣

DancingFerret · 29/09/2025 23:13

Newsnight just now seemed to be a celebration of all things Labour, including someone asserting KS will remain as PM because there's no-one else up to the job. Sheesh...

Sounds awful. Can’t stand those pro Labour things.

Still can’t believe people are ok with digital ID on some threads, I still need to see that opposed somehow.

LupaMoonhowl · 29/09/2025 23:29

Thank you for the new thread.
Was away last will so missed all the Morgan McSweeney electoral crime and SKS inheritance scandals…
Gosh this is moving fast.

Ain't that a damning indictment of the quality of the Labour Party MPs?

What about Streeting though? Or is he biding his time? He's being very quiet about his thoughts.

🤔
I think we guessed that 😁

Rivalled · 30/09/2025 05:58

New tax on private healthcare is today’s tax speculation….

MantleStatue · 30/09/2025 06:36

Used to be broadly left and broadly a Labour supporter..... in my ignorant youth anyway

But Christ on a Bike what a fucking incompetent shower of morons this lot have proven to be for more than a decade now.

TheNuthatch · 30/09/2025 06:53

Good morning 😁
I've had a much better start to my day today, thank goodness.

Welcome to the new names on the thread.

@Rivalled I've just seen that on the front of the DM. They should be encouraging those who can to use private health care, not penalising them.
Everybody I know is using online doctors and pharmacies now, because the NHS is no longer fit for purpose.

OP posts:
Rivalled · 30/09/2025 06:55

it would be in keeping with all of their other punishment policies…so many people have paid for private help in the post pandemic years i can’t see this being popular….but when did that ever stop them?

MantleStatue · 30/09/2025 06:56

Punish the people who use their own money (when they should not have to) to help alleviate the pressures on a strained and struggling system.

Where have we heard that before?

(I can't work out how to make this clunky sentence less clunky, but hopefully my point is clear!!)

No way. They’ve lost it.

I hear you. Tg for this thread

TheNuthatch · 30/09/2025 07:05

They've definitely lost it if they think it's just 'the rich' who are paying for health care these days.

EasternStandard · 30/09/2025 07:07

If that’s true they really have zero idea on state burden. The opposite to what other countries do, as they are not mad.

Linenpickle · 30/09/2025 07:12

This country is officially a joke, a mess, lawless, and no longer Britain/the Uk.

Absentosaur · 30/09/2025 07:22

Thanks for the new thread, keeping us sane 😘

Not a bad idea, although obviously it’s treating the symptoms not the cause.

An NHS online hospital service will be launched in England within two years to help cut waiting times, the prime minister is set to announce.

Sir Keir Starmer will tell the Labour Party annual conference a "new world is coming" as he sets out plans for the digital service.
NHS Online will have its own dedicated doctors and nurses who will take charge of patients who choose to use the service.

The idea is that assessments, check-ups with consultants and follow-up appointments will all be done online.
People will also be able to book a scan, test or procedure if they need one at a local community diagnostic centre via the app.

The service will be phased in from 2027 with the focus on areas where there are significant numbers of patients who may never need inpatient treatment.

A woman wearing a striped top sits in her kitchen while on a video call with a doctor.

New online NHS hospital service by 2027, PM to promise

Patients will get the option of digital support when GPs refer them but only for certain conditions.

TwistyTurnip · 30/09/2025 07:24

Good morning. Well, I’ve just woken up to the news that the chancellor is considering a 20% VAT charge on private health care. So if someone had just enough money to scrape together to pay for life saving treatment that they couldn’t get on the NHS, or that they need urgently, they will no longer be able to afford to do so. This will cost lives. And now millions who will now be priced out of private health care, will now need to use an already stretched NHS. It’s scary that people who are in charge of running the country would think up such a stupid idea.
