Storm Amy

So the season of named storms is upon us, with Amy being the first.
What are the conditions currently like where you are?

Here in the south east, the rain is gradually getting heavier but no hint of the predicted winds yet.

I hope all the MNs in Scotland and NI are safe and sound.

Thanks, bit windy Ne Scotland yellow warning (Autumn weather)
West coast is amber now that's a bit different, that's when people do get injured and die.
We had that in the Ne a few years ago and it's wild.

ClimbingMounjaro · 03/10/2025 19:16

It's absolutely wet n wild here. My good friend is getting married tomorrow, hoping we don't all blow away!!!
In all seriousness she's done floral arrangements outside the church, pray for us!

East Midlands.
Very windy here, raining on and off all day.

JustStopItNorasaurus · 03/10/2025 19:25

South here. Wind is getting up and we have had rain of varying intensity all day.

DH had a sporting thingie tomorrow and they have already cancelled. The DCs have a school event which they are fervently hoping will be cancelled.

No17CherryTreeLane · 03/10/2025 19:35

Good luck to your friend @ClimbingMounjaro , hopefully the forecast is correct in that the rain will have passed over by then, but it will be the wind that is the danger tomorrow.
Hold on to your wedding hats!

@Hollyhobbi oh goodness that's awful, hope he is OK.
Really hope the power companies are able to work out there safely and get things back on track for all those affected.

South West. Random bursts of strong wind which then stop for a few minutes and a bit of drizzle but that’s it.

66boat66 · 03/10/2025 19:37

It seems wild in the East Mids

Moominmoko · 03/10/2025 19:37

I'm in NE Scotland on the coast. It suddenly just went from a bit breezy to crazy gusts of wind. Not much rain since the afternoon though. Just had to make my second trip to the garden to secure down things I optimistically thought would be fine.

Gatekeeper · 03/10/2025 19:41

S.W Durham...VERY, VERY windy and rainy here and praying that our roof/fence/trees are still there tomorrow

QueenOfCastille · 03/10/2025 19:42

Not too bad here in the West country, but the wind is due to pick up tomorrow.

No17CherryTreeLane · 03/10/2025 19:43

@ApolloandDaphne what did you decide to do?

@GrandTheftWalrus hope you are OK x

It is very strange that MNs in different parts of London are reporting no wind or very windy in the same time frame, it does indeed sound very localised @hohummm1

The wind has definitely cranked up a few notches here since this afternoon, but it still feels very mild.

Well i just went out to the shop. Windy but nowhere near as bad as January. That was terrifying.

Rowgtfc72 · 03/10/2025 19:48

East coast, Lincolnshire. Rained most of the day. Wind ramped up in the last hour.

Thank you! Luckily my hat is on a band! My own wedding year's ago it bloody RAINED SO MUCH! It won't be as bad tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞

harlequinmango · 03/10/2025 19:58

Central Scotland here and it's a bit wild out there, strangely the storm seemed to break for a good 30 mins earlier and we had glorious sunshine but the wind has definitely picked back up now

BoarBrush · 03/10/2025 20:09

Next doors fence is ready to burst, I've propped it the best that I can in the hopes it'll last the night for me to fix tomorrow.

Football training wasn't cancelled though, which ended with a branch through the coaches van window...

Southern Scotland.

Oh scary, I hope everyone was alright?

I always get a bit nervous about our chimneys in weather like this, hopefully they'll stand firm.

Yep.
Really wasn't expecting it

AnAudacityofinlaws · 03/10/2025 20:25

Blowing hard now in West Yorkshire!

Dairymilkisminging · 03/10/2025 20:28

North Scotland here and it's getting there seems the worst will hit us around midnight.

Thankfully everyone was training at the time. Kids all survived with very wet boots for matches tomorrow morning!

My parents house is very old and right on the coast of the Forth. It seems inevitable that tiles will come off, the chimney will be damaged or that the sea wall will cave in again. Dad's 68 and still climbing up that 3 storey house to repair the roof, I swear that's the way he'll go.

itsgettingweird · 03/10/2025 20:46

South coast central. Been windy here for a few hours now

FiveGoMadInDorset · 03/10/2025 20:51

Roads are a interesting her, lots of trees shedding various amounts of foliage and small branches, wind definitely picking up in South Dorset

FizzPlease · 03/10/2025 20:54

Very top of Scotland here (mainland). Lights starting to flicker and trees down on local roads
