I do wish people would stop with the Starmer conspiracy theories.

1. There don’t appear to be any facts behind any of them.
2. That’s the practice of the left. It makes me cringe to see others’ copying it.

I don’t like Starmer or any others of Labour’s band of incompetents. But they should be judged on true facts, not fantastical rumours, made up statistics and the like - just as I wanted the Tories to be judged.

I appreciate that many on the left lied their heads off about the Tories, and many leftists still do (not least on MN), but I’d hope the rest of us can be better than that.

Of course it's not. Only in the MN world does anyone actually support Labour + Starmer.

There’s some awful garbage being spouted on MN about the ECHR and how withdrawal (or presumably just repeal of the HRA) would doom us.

We’ll all be at the mercy of the rack and the thumbscrew, apparently.

I despair at the low-grade twaddle that passes for left-wing argument now. I suspect that’s why dishonesty - from Labour, about Labour, and about its opponents - is so prevalent on the left nowadays: if they had only their own arguments to make they’d get nowhere. This government is proof of that.

Have they not seen Jack Straw and David Blunkett have discussed leaving the ECHR recently?! Or is that an inconvenient fact?

TBF I think (the few more sensible and realistic) Labour voices are talking about partial suspension rather than withdrawal.

But I agree. They’re basically the same thing and some posters’ and Labour politicians’ unthinking, blind allegiance to the ECHR and its court is just them putting their fingers in their ears, closing their eyes and shouting “Can’t hear or see the problem!”.
