A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has said there may be a "price to pay" in the opinion polls but insisted her approach to changing her party would "pay off eventually".

Speaking to the BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Badenoch argued that unlike Labour and Reform UK she wouldn't "rush out" new policies and would instead take "time to get it right".

Sadly I feel that's an admission that they will be out for the next election cycle

I'm hoping movement may be made now their conference has started. They have a chance to show the country what their policies would be if they were in government.

I think we may have 18 months or so before they make any significant grounds, however.

Wow, my posts have been removed from this thread? Why when it’s a thread for those who don’t like the Labour government? Clearly there are posters on this thread who like this Labour government.

Ana Boulter says it as it is and yet any mention of her is reported and deleted. Why?

You will need to take that up with MNHQ.

I don't click on YouTube or X links, unless from a known and trusted source.

This is indeed a thread for those who don't like Labour. Please feel free to comment and contribute if that's your thing.
I prefer to converse with posters on the thread, rather than PMs, for future reference.

Did anyone listen to Kemi's speech today? I'm not sure how I felt about it tbh. I like what she was saying, but I was left quite underwhelmed.
Hoping for more when she gives her next speech focused on the economy.

I think 4 years is a very long time in politics! The Conservatives can definitely turn it around, and Reform have everything to lose now. So here’s hoping 🤞

Wowsers.

Who would have thunk it ie that 60 per head os sufficient for a proper breakfast.

This is a photo taken from the marketing of breakfast clubs. 1 shitty slice of toast

https://schoolsweek.co.uk/breakfast-clubs-not-financially-viable-say-heads-as-scheme-expands/

That looks appetising 🙄.

You know my thoughts on this, but why aren't the govt listening to the feedback? Its crazy to expand it.

I'm on the fence, TBH - not least because I couldn't help but feel she's noted Reform's almost meteoric rise up the opinion polls with their stance on illegal immigration and taken a leaf out of their book. It's what people want to hear, but after the talk comes the walk - and I'm not sure they've considered implementation.

"Because all children must receive 1 slice of soggy toast per day to claim we have solved child poverty" ..... repeat ad nauseum

justasking111 · 05/10/2025 19:42

That's grim. I think my grandson is offered cereal, toast, orange juice.

I think it's part of the gaslighting. Like when RR said 'we have put more money into worker's pockets'. Well.. for some workers. Others have seen their employers go bust thanks to the rise in NI. Or those who are seasonal workers or on 0 hour contracts have seen their workplaces say 'we can't afford you now because we have to guarantee minimum hours'.

The Labour party want to say 'we promised breakfast clubs and we have delivered' to a soundtrack of rapturous applause from the numpties true believers.

They peddle lies, no matter what the true and actual costs. Because the costs don't matter. Soundbites do.

Yeah I'm on the fence too. Still hopeful, but worried. Maybe I just don't get on with her communication style 🤷‍♂️.

Yes, all true.
I would wager that most parents would prefer to go back to the nominal fee breakfast clubs they had before Labour stuck their noses in.

Yep pay £2 for fresh OJ, fresh fruit, yoghurt, croissants and decent cereals OR "free" 1 slice of soggy toast

Probably. We used to pay here. But Wales is much smaller and it was eased in. Not every year had it at the beginning I seem to remember.

I saw earlier a 200 page report they produced on leaving the echo.....they do seem to be thinking it through?

I missed kemi's speech though

GabrielsOboe · 05/10/2025 19:56

From the Reform Chairman…

As I write this, I am reading Kemi Badenoch’s plan to stop illegal immigration with incredulity. The bare-faced cheek of this plan knows no bounds. This is a desperate last-ditch attempt to hoodwink the British public into thinking the Tory party has the will and the plan to stop illegal migration. What I find even more extraordinary is that they have lifted our Operation Restoring Justice policy, launched just a few weeks ago, almost word for word.

This proves the Tories are tired, tremulous and toast.

It’s also worth remembering that the Conservatives were in power for 14 years, and if they were truly serious about leaving the ECHR, they would have done so long ago. Instead, they cling to vague rhetoric designed to win over voters they have betrayed time and time again. Do not forget that it was the Conservatives who got Britain into this mess. By the way, a poll by Merlin this week shows the public have no faith in the Tories when it comes to stopping the boats. They trust us.
