A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Am I right in thinking that the 122 million of the mone money probably won't be repaid? At least most of it!

Of course it won’t. They won’t be able to get that money back. Doesn’t stop silly old Labour folk from thinking they’re getting a bonus payment. Shame really, it could’ve paid for healthier food than jam and white bread, in breakfast clubs for a few days.

Salient piece about KS's very ill-advised speech by Dan Hodges in the DM:

https://archive.ph/edDB1

That’s a really good article. I thought he was aiming it mostly at his own party in fear of a challenge. And he’ll feel it at the next ballot box.

Interesting piece on the boss of AO. He doesn’t hold back on criticising Labour for hiking NI and the effect on business.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8exj892085o

"We should be talking about job creation, not enforcing things that make business leaders think twice about recruiting people and about giving somebody a chance," he says

Nail on head.

A party that gets a landslide with something like VAT on PS and setting up ‘the rich’ as the issue is just the wrong group of people to get this.

They’re too spiteful, too separate from business and too craven.

They might when the unemployment figures only ever go up, along with the welfare bill and tough choices of how to share it out come into focus.

At this point it feels like people are completely blind until the world bites them on the arse.

Yea. Perhaps if their benefits were taken away because the gvt can’t afford them, they’d begin to listen. Until then they’ll stay on their gravy train paid for by other people.

That's a great piece. I bought the DM today to show them some love for today's front page.

It was ill advised. You're supposed to boost the troops, not trample all over their shiny dreams.

I wonder how many of them were local council propelled in as MPs, who are just thinking fondly about the old days, when they assisted with neighbours disputes, local planning, education, etc.

DancingFerret · 01/10/2025 14:40

The BBC is reportedly refusing to screen the Boat Race because they consider the event elitist, and now the Bar Council has barred white students from its internship programme. More and more, I feel like a stranger in my own country.

This is so annoying … it drives me crackers when the news moves on to the sports section and the main thing covered is football. There are so many sports but they hardly get even a mention.

It was a technical landslide due to FPTP though, wasn't it? They really shouldn't have the number of MPs they do, given their vote share! The majority of the country has never supported this version of Labour, let alone now!

Absentosaur · 01/10/2025 15:39

God they’re insane. Load of school kids.

Ed Miliband 🙈🙈🫣. He’s not wrong about Musk but.. professionalism? Anywhere?? What’s going on.

Sorry for bad quality. I’m working and this Labour Conf ‘news flash’ popped up.

@Twistyizzy if it makes you feel any better, I think it's batshit out there at the moment. You can't reason with people who are ideologically immune to logic.

Yes I agree I think Starmer’s speech and all the other stuff is making people riled up.

Is it bad on the other threads? I haven't ventured today, had a feeling they'd all be mad as a box of frogs.

They'll quieten down again after the OBR forecast on Friday.
