A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks. I'll add it to my list. I have about 3 weeks of podcasts to catch up on.

The grants will be targeted at those "studying priority courses that support the industrial strategy and the Labour government's wider mission to renew Britain".

What a lot of gobbledegook. Urgh.

I love the American expression "word salad"

I’ve been pondering Labour’s attitude to women. It’s a weird one - they seem to hate their own senior women as well. When all the Angela Rayner stuff came out, she was excused by a couple of people (I think Lammy was one) as having a “complicated personal life”. I don’t know about the other posters but that is the sort of euphemism I use when someone is downright chaotic - it was damning her with faint defence.

And I think it's only ever the Left who do it.

It might be my bias blinding me, but I don't remember any Tory or even Reform using that kind of language, those kind of inflammatory accusations against Labour MPs. Ever.

Am I misremembering?

They don't need to labour are doing it all for them

justasking111 · 01/10/2025 10:02

When Tony Blair got in there was such a feeling of hope. He was gracious to the conservatives and other parties that lost. Interested only in the future. His MPs were inspired and worked hard for him. This time round Starmers MPs are shackled and silenced bar a very tight circle. It's the same in Wales the Senedd. They're nodding donkeys, there for decoration. All decisions being made by a select few with the others having no input

Yeh they sound miserable. A few have spoken about the atmosphere of control.

This couldn’t be more different to Blair. I thought that pre GE so it’s not that surprising, it’s still awful though and worse than I thought.

I think you might be on to something there. Kemi has given 'grown up' vibes recently. If she can come out looking sensible and talking about the economy, leaving the men to throw shit at each other, it would be a good place for her to be.

I hope she can. I have always liked Kemi..and I felt before recess she was getting into her stride more. I hope she continues to grow into the role.

Yep.
Tie that in with the word 'battle', and Starmer's rhetoric about comparisons with the post war re-build. Then followed by Lammy's accusations of 'flirting with the Hitler youth'. Its revolting.

My Labour MP has received another strongly worded email from me this morning.

It's a good opportunity for her. Let's hope she can pull it off.

It’s wide open for a comedian to collate and contrast the ‘talent’ in the two cabinets.

There were so many instant millionaires. Son had a friend from school days who imported kiss me quick type products you see at holiday resorts like Blackpool. Made a reasonable iving. When COVID lockdown started he ordered factories in China to supply him with paper masks. He'd sold them before he had to pay for them. Made millions.

He did nothing illegal was just quick off the mark.

I think what pharmaceuticals did is much more worrying to be honest. The vaccines were rushed out.

Don’t know about the likelihood of payment.

But I would just point out that this civil case for recovery of the money was started under the Tories. It was the Tories that sought the money back.

But that won’t stop the brainwashed Labourite Guardian-reading MN posters from shouting ‘Tory corruption!’ 🙄
