A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The supporters ARE mind numbingly stupid, it honestly blows their mind past the ability to comprehend why I would vote Reform just to get Labour out. They therefore can't comprehend that a whole electorate might do this also.

strawberrybubblegum · 01/10/2025 08:56

And I think it's only ever the Left who do it.

It might be my bias blinding me, but I don't remember any Tory or even Reform using that kind of language, those kind of inflammatory accusations against Labour MPs. Ever.

Am I misremembering?

Meanwhile, business confidence is at a record low, exceeding that which followed in the wake of the Truss budget. The IoD has it at -74 in September, down from -61 in August. It was -3 in May last year.

Shocker and so surprising

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 01/10/2025 08:58

I can’t help thinking that Labour’s attack line on Reform could be useful for the Tories. If it gets any traction - which it might over time if Reform’s councillors or supporters do dumb and unpleasant things (some’s happened already) - there should be more appeal in a non-Reform party that isn’t Labour or quasi-Labour, like the Libs.

It wouldn’t exactly be a glowing recommendation to be ‘not Labour or Reform’ but I can see an opportunity if the Tories balance the message carefully. Mostly, of course, the Tories need to hammer away at the economy. They’re the only party with anything to say about the mire of tax and spend we’re sinking into very fast.

Upstartled · 01/10/2025 08:31

Do you remember when they were going to be the grown ups back in charge, country over party, integrity first? And here they are on the brink of financial dire straits and social cohesion stretched to braking point and they're lighting the tinderbox with reckless spending and inflammatory banter to keep the faithful on side.

It's really dangerous.

They've obviously learned nothing from the Jo Cox incident. One of their own MP's murdered for a cause. Stupidity doesn't come close to describing what Starmer, Lammy et al are up to.

Was talking to an army intelligence officer last week who told me a few things I have also seen alluded to on here.
No-one cares about sexuality, or illegitimacy, it’s hypocrisy people can’t stand, and those do hide behind super-injunctions.

My Linked feed has insinuations about the Met Police keeping Starmer’s “secrets”.

I don’t care about his sexuality and no children are illegitimate- but I do wonder if there is any truth. If so, why hide it?

Bloody hell this is dire. Well done Labour

I remember the ‘grown up’ stuff which was nonsense but still people did repeat it and the ‘we will tread lightly on your lives’.

They’re losing it. This fight rhetoric will rile people up even more. What are they doing? Dangerous idiots.

I think they've behaved appallingly. And this reaction from the government and supporters that Farage's concerns are built on snowflakery is as bad as Lammy's original dimwitted insult.

I was just as cross when Rayner called the Tories scum. It's a party of the self righteous who give themselves license to behave like dangerous fools.

Couldn’t agree more

Labour have become a party of hate in words and policies.

Because it doesn't follow his wholesome family man narrative. I can accpet, a different sexual orientation and children not acknowledged what I can't abide are liars and hypocrites, especially from those in high positions.

strawberrybubblegum · 01/10/2025 08:47

Not just 30-34%. There are plenty of people like me who don't support Reform but loathe the populist vilification which Labour have turned into an art form.

But how do they not realise that ratcheting up the division and name-calling puts them at danger as MPs, not only the other side. It's pretty scummy to deliberately put the other side at risk, but it's mind-blowingly stupid not to realise that it puts them at risk too.

Very true.

I think you might be on to something there. Kemi has given 'grown up' vibes recently. If she can come out looking sensible and talking about the economy, leaving the men to throw shit at each other, it would be a good place for her to be.

Well said, they are happy to incite hatred against other people whilst conveniently forgetting Jo Cox. If any other party had said what was said at conference yesterday they would be up in arms.

Also way too stupid to realise that the language used yesterday will just help Reform. They can't out Reform, Reform. They have sink low instead of going high.

She’s definitely not for slinging or spending which is great. The media are an issue in that they barely pick up on anything.

The other problem is Labour making people poorer over the next four years so they drag more people onto state support and then they tend to vote for more spending.

But yes I think you and @DenizenOfAisleOfShameare right about her.

Absentosaur · 01/10/2025 09:17

Lammy and Labour are despicable. Politicians have a duty to reduce the level of poison and violent rhetoric in politics.

All Labour do, is incite violence, hatred and increase division in our society.

Labour are out. Reform won’t make it credibly for 5yrs, they’ve got some v dodgy ideas. People might see that eventually. Which leaves the conservatives to save us all..

Yes you're right. Scrapping the benefit cap will also be good for Kemi. I think(?) the tories are the only party who oppose it now. Its something like 65% of the public are against scrapping the cap so this is good ground for her to cover.

She’s playing a long game. I think it’s what we need.

We can’t survive more iterations of short term thinking and wuick wins at the expense of our future good.
