A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Labour peer personally apologises to Farage for Lammy's comments "I'm ashamed"

https://x.com/brexitblog_info/status/1973143868091613330?t=XHSHYSovIEyDxNlx1EpkHQ&s=19

Wow. That is something. Good for him.

Upstartled · 01/10/2025 08:02

I think they've behaved appallingly. And this reaction from the government and supporters that Farage's concerns are built on snowflakery is as bad as Lammy's original dimwitted insult.

I was just as cross when Rayner called the Tories scum. It's a party of the self righteous who give themselves license to behave like dangerous fools.

Yes it's the smug self righteous arrogance of believing they are intellectually superior, see it constantly on here with Labour supporters. You can see them doing the Bigot sneer as they write.
That attitude is also their undoing. They just can't help themselves though, even when all the evidence and public opinion points to them bring wrong.

More journos are coming out to say they have had their conference pass cancelled. Left wing journos too, they just happen to have previously criticised Starmer or Labour

Do you think we may have found the lone conscience in the Labour party?

MantleStatue · 01/10/2025 08:07

We were listening to two types of news this morning BBC and GMB. I commented to DH that the Labour party are like fish when you hook them out of the water and they lie on the pier flapping desperately.

He just replied; 'Yes but you are supposed to bludgeon them on the head' .

🤣🤣 if only!

Wishihadanalgorithm · 01/10/2025 08:09

I’m watching the news, reading these thread, glancing at X and all I can see is an utter shit-show. It is like they know they’re here for another 4 years and that’s that, so they’re going to do what the heck they like as they know this is the only chance they’ve got. Like they want to press the big red button and sod the collateral damage.

One of the (many) thoughts about the Labour Party I have is how does SKS hold his head up when he meets the king for their check ins? I can’t imagine Charles is happy with what’s happening to the country - they must be difficult conversations.

Yes agree.
I would go even further and say that some of the language has been dangerous when you consider that we have seen MPs killed in the UK.

I believe they have been reported to the Merseysude police for hate speech

twistyizzy · 01/10/2025 08:12

Predictably it has backfired.
This will only serve to entrench Reform's support I think. The people who have been swayed back to Labour will be Labour party members, I don't think anyone who didn't support Labour before will look at this and be impressed or change their mind.

I’ve listed to some stuff about him, he’s from something called ‘blue Labour’ and wants to control immigration. Probably similarly to Farage. He’s getting some time again because his policies are being picked up by Mahmood.

Good.
It needs to be called out. If those on the left support and repeat this rhetoric, they are no better than the ultra-right 'thugs' they like to point at.

Yes it will entrench people. 30 to 34% are now loathing him even more.

Couldn't agree more. They have the time and are determined to do whatever they want and bugger the consequences because they know they won't have to deal ith it.
As for Charles, I'm of the opinion he probably applauds what is happeneing. This king is of the liberal persuasion who, in my view is more european than British. He is nothing like his mother.

That's a nice thought, I hope she does.

Was talking to an army intelligence officer last week who told me a few things I have also seen alluded to on here.
No-one cares about sexuality, or illegitimacy, it’s hypocrisy people can’t stand, and those do hide behind super-injunctions.

EasternStandard · 01/10/2025 08:17

Labour fanning everyone with fighting talk won’t end well.

Yep, spot on.
That's a great front page from the DM.

Yeah it seems to be the worst kept secret in Westminster. There is a court case in April too, but I'll keep my powder dry so our thread doesn't get deleted.
As you say, it's the lies and hypocracy that are harmful.

Do you remember when they were going to be the grown ups back in charge, country over party, integrity first? And here they are on the brink of financial dire straits and social cohesion stretched to braking point and they're lighting the tinderbox with reckless spending and inflammatory banter to keep the faithful on side.

It's really dangerous.

Not just 30-34%. There are plenty of people like me who don't support Reform but loathe the populist vilification which Labour have turned into an art form.

But how do they not realise that ratcheting up the division and name-calling puts them at danger as MPs, not only the other side. It's pretty scummy to deliberately put the other side at risk, but it's mind-blowingly stupid not to realise that it puts them at risk too.

Upstartled · 01/10/2025 08:51

Agreed. You can't pick which crazy person will pick up the silent call to arms when you inflame the political landscape with dangerous rhetoric. It could be the person you insulted or it could be someone who is aggrieved that you insulted them. It's a stupid game.

It really is.

'Pretty scummy' actually minimises the harm.

It's utterly appalling.
