Well i suppose we are back to whether or not Sunak can claim to be an Englishman.

It upsets me that anyone should think he is anything but.

DuncinToffee · 07/10/2025 16:31

When Oakeshott/Tice say UK must emulate UAE or go bust do they mean integrate sharia law?

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 07/10/2025 16:43

I saw that. Someone rightly pointed out that anyone agreeing with Tice assumes they will be bobbing around at the marina being served, not the poor sod building in 50 degree heat.

(I'm sure they have amazing employment protections really and thats what Tice meant to mention)

88% of the population are immigrants

Do you remember that brief period in 2020/2021 when "I don't see colour", "woke people are saying it's racist to say you don't see colour. They're the racist ones" was the order of the day. Its amazing how many of the people saying it then miraculously regained the ability to see colour as soon as it seemed politically acceptable.

Hesseltine

Heseltine is barely in his party anyway. They have never forgiven him for his attack on Thatcher. They will just paint him as an old Europhile. I like to believe in the moderate Conservative but it will take more than him to save it from extinction

cardibach · 07/10/2025 17:50

When did Heseltine become the voice of reason? Shows how far everything has moved.

pointythings · 07/10/2025 18:08

Listening to pm on my way home - depressing how many people at the Tory Conference were doing mental gymnastics to excuse Jenrick's racist crap about Handsworth. The only person who came right out and said it was racist and a cause for concern was Dame Sara Khan, a Tory appointment in 2021.

I see it so much on here too - whiteness as a proxy for Britishness.

Karistyleaftea · 07/10/2025 18:26

I can imagine what the media response would have been if Angela Rayner had made the comments which Jenrick has.

About 2016, even more so when Johnson kicked all the remaining voices of reason out of the party, sowing the seeds for the apology of a party it is now. My bloke’s got his head in his hands.

Which is not only despicable, but (what a surprise) a bit dim.

I imagine there are a lot of white Anglo-Saxon paedophiles who think it's Christmas come early. In fact so many, you have to ask if it was planned ?

Plaid showing strongly in the Caerphilly by election.

That’s a bit of good news let’s hope it continues,
Polly Toynbee spot on with that piece, I’m aghast at how stupid the Conservative party is becoming only short a while ago Jenrick would have been sacked for his totally unacceptable rhetoric/racist bile. Makes me so cross when MPs or councillors defect they should have the courage to face the electorate not jump ship because the grass looks greener it’s totally immoral & un democratic.

It's bizarre when people on vox pop (can't stand them) say no party speaks for me so I'm voting Reform. Can they not see?

It’s so bizarre if I was a disillusioned Tory or Labour voter I’d vote Lib Dem or for an independent hell would freeze over before I voted reform.

It’s not about facts. It’s about feelz.

”I know statistics are poorly understood and are misused. But facts matter

Between the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census every ethnic group in the UK has become less geographically segregated and all groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them

Here's the relevant chart from the above report. It's rare to see such a clear, consistent slope in any social trend. That segregation is decreasing is perhaps the best evidence, least controversial social fact of modern Britain”

The Bishop of Birmingham has written to Jenrick about his comments.

Andy Street has called him out as well

Thanks for this. Makes for an interesting read.

I’m not sure if this has already been posted. This death threat is appalling and must be genuinely terrifying. That said, can Farage really not see the irony in condemning this, while celebrating Lucy Connelly at conference? If course he can't.

Nigel Farage looking disappointed and facing the camera. He is wearing a black blazer, white shirt and purple tie.

Nigel Farage 'genuinely worried' by 'TikTok death threat'

Southwark Crown Court hears how Fayaz Khan posted a video in which he makes a gun gesture with his hand before saying "pop, pop, pop".
