Jenrick has told the DT that he will sack judges with pro-migrant bias and given them a list of names.

In the US this has led to a judge's house being set on fire with her husband and son inside

Do this lot not have an original thought?

He painted over Disney murals once, that was 'original'

I wish they were better. They might as well merge with Reform now.

"I've been to busier dinner parties.". 😄 😄 😄

Re Crace's review of Mel Stride.

BestIsWest · 07/10/2025 08:29

I sort of wish that they would join Reform and that the more sensible centrist Tories (David Gauke, Rory Stewart, help me here I’m struggling but there must be more even some who are actual MPs) would break away and form a centre right party. There must be a gap in the market.

Notonthestairs · 07/10/2025 08:31

Well presumably that would mean dismantling the current system of appointments (senior barristers chosen by the independent Judicial Appointments Committee who make decisions based on merit) and instead selecting judges based on them tweeting the correct political opinions.

Just like America.

(Jenrick’s mcCarthy list isn’t at all weird. I’d quite like to see these supposedly ‘open border’ tweets because I think he’s talking crap)

DuncinToffee · 07/10/2025 08:33

This guy has quit the Con party over the ECHR plans, now sit as independent.

North Northamptonshire councillor Scott Brown, a party member for 25 years, said the leader's ECHR stance was a "fundamental departure from the principles that have long defined our party".

Whilst I’m enjoying the schadenfreude, this is actually pretty dangerous for our politics. We need the Tories to present a strong opposition to Labour, otherwise all they’re doing is opening the door (wider) to Reform. Reform is now the massive cuckoo in the Tory nest. And we know who the winner will be there.

I think this is why, behind our collective sniggering, we all despair.

Absolutely. British politics needs them to be better. I honestly wonder if they’ll exist at all in ten years time. They’re leaving their voters with nowhere to go.

Yep.

I try to keep in mind that voters are a fickle bunch, and the Reform base is built on sand. It’s three years to the GE and I’m saving my concern for the year before that.

DuncinToffee · 07/10/2025 09:26

This was a Tory policy

Very wise. I try to do the same thing but it’s really hard, isn’t it?

This would be a real opportunity for the LibDems if only they took the initiative to grab it...

placemats · 07/10/2025 09:44

I keep in mind that UKIP were seen as a threat to the Tory party, though acknowledge that Reform has the capacity to demolish them. If the latter happens, we're back to two main parties politics.

Sadly, the people pf Wales have to worry right now. Seven months until our elections.

DuncinToffee · 07/10/2025 10:10

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

The Conservatives strength was their ability to resist the call of Purity Tests and maintain a broad congregation based on pragmatism.

They are all Douglas Carswell now.

Greedy little hands holding out for a dollar or two.

Edited for sloppy spelling.

FFS Badenoch, at least do your homework

https://bsky.app/profile/lbc.co.uk/post/3m2lrnbggi22w

"So you're laying waste to people's jobs, but you don't know how many?"

Kemi Badenoch plans to get rid of 'quite a lot' of civil servants.

She doesn't have the exact figure, but she assures Nick that she's 'looked at it'.

Apparently 20 Tory councillors have defected to Reform today Shock

That's not good.
