A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Just read on Sky that Lib Dems, Reform and the Greens have all given a firm no to digital ID. I'm almost certain that Corbyn will also be heavily against. Some Labour MPs also coming out against.
Kemi Badenoch criticising it as a deflection tactic, but she didn't rule it out either. Slightly disappointed in her response tbh. I hope she firms that up.

Hmm same. I’m with anyone who opposes.

Do we think Blair is behind this, working from behind the curtain?

Yes. I was musing as I went on a run does anyone think this is a sop to Macron to try and sort out boats?

I feel he has a hand in a lot of Labour policy still, from his luxury life in the US of course

Definitely a sop to Macron. Starmer seems to idolise him.
It could be Blair behind the scenes, or it could be Starmer trying (and failing) to emulate him?

Sorry to be the contrarian, but I am beginning to adopt a policy of agreeing with anything and everything Starmer proposes, premised on the simple but inescapable logic, that it is almost GUARANTEED to be absolutely the wrong approach.…

I use the word karking.. and I am from Luton!

It’s all in the name. But I’m not a tree. 🤣
Watford born here. Friends in Hitchin so I know Luton a bit

In Watford it’s more
snuffed it
or
met their maker
or
they had a good innings 😁

Macron will be out soon which will be interesting. Blair’s definitely lurking.

Here’s a thought - why not simply give digital ID’s to immigrants, and leave the rest of us alone.

Secondly, given the massive data breach with the Afghans as one recent example, why not simply send our raw data to Beijing now? Save the time and money….

I would probably vote for it of it meant ousting Labour
I want to keep Starmer, he's odds on for losing the next election.

November, 2026 - budget.

Reeves’s successor: ‘Given the unforeseen over-run on implementation of the former PM’s ID scheme, of GBP (insert own xx billions assumption here), the black hole, which we have affectionately named ‘Gargantua’, now stands at GBP xxx billion.’

The October 2024 budget, the first under the newly elected Labour government, introduced sharp hikes in capital gains and inheritance taxes, and new rules targeting non-domiciled residents and family wealth structures took effect in April.

Yep. He has a 100% record so far.

I can't think of an animal to compare him with. Nothing in the animal kingdom is that stupid and incompetent. I prefer the blob fish.

Unconfirmed reports that Labour have their next Chancellor, lined up…

“…There’s loads and loads of ways. And so people should not be scared that (slavery) reparations (of GBP 18.6 trillion) would bankrupt Britain…”
Lenny Henry.

Comedy gold.
