Labour isn't working - Thread 10

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch

Interesting stats on this morning’s TRIP in relation to Regitm and the Tories.

Of the 122 seats win by the Tories at the last election, Reform were in 2nd place in just 9 of them.

Whereas in the 72 seats won by the Lib Dems, the Tories were 2nd in 64 of them.

Suggesting that a move back towards the centre/centre right would be a far better tactic to winning more seats in 2029.

I'm very jealous of all the Waitrose shopping. We don't have one, not posh enough round these parts 😂.

Ditto. I'd love a Waitrose shop here. We lost our local M&S just after covid. I was traumatised! I have to travel 5 miles now.

We’ve booked a day off next week to go online for an auction. I’ll tell you which one after as I don’t want any of you bidding against me for the sheep.🤣🤣. Will post pics if I get it 🙏

Exciting times it is
Anything other than listening to Ed Davey 😆, did you medicate before @TheNuthatch

No, but I felt like medicating afterwards! Good job I don't carry a hip flask 😂

I had a really long commute this morning, so taking one for the team, I decided to listen to Ed Davey's conference speech (I wouldn't recommend, I nearly nodded off). There is an hour I'll never get back. What a load of drivel.

He spent virtually the whole hour banging on about Farage. A whole hour! This is the party who are always complaining that Farage gets more attention than they do, despite having only a handful of MPs etc. There was zero criticism of the government, no mention of the economy or immigration. Davey seems to think that Trump and gun laws are the most important issues we face. He is clearly eyeing up a coalition with Labour at the next GE. Does he really think that the public will go for that? Vote Lib Dem to keep Labour in power? Batshit. If that was a pitch to tories like me, he failed spectacularly.

The lib dems, and many on the left are constantly moaning about the amount of airtime given to Reform. Yet they themselves never talk about anything other than Reform and Farage.

Thanks for this. You definitely did us a solid. I agree the left are fixated on Reform and add to their airtime daily.

That’s interesting but I don’t think success next time can be judged by last time? The shift is so big, from 4 MPs to hundreds potentially. Surely you’d have to consider who might be second next time?

Why though? I'm on the right so to speak, and I'm definitely not obsessed with Farage. He rarely enters my thoughts tbh. I don't understand why the left are.

Thanks @TheNuthatch, very selfless of you. Did he manage all that without a clown act?

I'm in a Waitrose desert. I'll be slumming it with other Tesco delivery savers at 6am scrapping for a good time slot some time in November, like a savage.

Yep me too, solidarity 💪

Maybe they think if they badmouth Farage enough folk will start to believe it. I do think there is beginning to be a joined up effort between labour and the lib dems to attempt somesort of joined up criticism of Reform.

I want to hear about policy, thoughts, or at least direction of travel on the major issues we face. I'm really not interested in something Farage said 10 years ago.
Davey had an hour of being in the sun, and barely mentioned any of the major issues we face.

Nope. Nearest Booths is about an hour's drive away. I love Booths though, always go in when I'm nearby.

Aldi and Lidl here although there’s a Home Bargains nearby ( it replaced Waitrose as no one shopped there )
Id have to drive to Canterbury to find an M&S but the ring roads drive me round the bend.

We don't have Booths or Waitrose 😢

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 24/09/2025 13:46

As to Christmas, see the user name above 👆.

Aldi all the way. Including the aisle of shame.

On more important matters, I agree with CaveMum: the Tories need to settle into a post-Brexit, thoughtful centre-right position. Reform will almost certainly crash and burn in government, if not before. Reform have no prospect of doing anything that they’re shouting about - much like the Libs did for decades and then met reality when in coalition government.

Electorally and generally there’s more for the Tories in presenting as sensible - politically speaking - than trying to out-Farage Farage.

TheNuthatch · 24/09/2025 13:47

I've just had to Google gimmer.

Yes, I try to go when I’m up at my parents house. They only go on special occasions, it’s too ‘dear’. ❤️

Though don’t forget you could always drive up to Teebay Services for even posher treats :D

I prefer Lidl to Aldi. Our closest supermarket is a Lidl with an amazing bakery. This explains why I am currently taking mounjaro 😂.

Agree with you on the tories. They cannot and should not try to out Farage Farage.
