A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oh for those interested, I've narrowed down the search to Johnstone paints Raw Linen, Seashell or Oatcake. Struggled to find Hare in Crown paints locally.

‘Like Japanese knotweed’ 😂😂

I also like the way that the cowardly POS attempts a basic deflection technique - asserting that others have urged him to stand.

What do you want, Burnham?

This lot are infuckingcredible, really.

They all look nice from the online pics @upseedaisee I've not seen them in real life - so no real help.

Jeez, Japanese Knotweed 😆 Brutal.

LeakyRad · 25/09/2025 17:10

Ah, this is where everyone went.

Late to the party, but anybody think today's news of hackers releasing nursery kids' photos, addresses and contact details is a pretty awful juxtaposition with tomorrow's announcement of compulsory digital ID?

GabrielsOboe · 25/09/2025 17:10

You can see where this is heading….

There will be exemptions/carve outs for:

Union members, illegal immigrants, welfare claimaints et al.

CruCru · 25/09/2025 17:12

It won’t be Andy Burnham.

TheNuthatch · 25/09/2025 17:19

I heard this on a podcast this morning. It was suggested that this will be Rodney's big reveal at conference as he begs them not to sack him. They haven't learned since their previous attempt to introduce ID. We may aswell move to feckin China at this rate.

If Starmer thinks this will make him more popular, he has a shock coming. Arsehole Angry
If the Lib Dems back this in an attempt to suck up to Labour, they will need to change their party name. Nothing liberal about ID cards.

I haven't heard/read about that sorry. But Starmer's beloved JLR is currently in shut down after a cyber attack. You couldn't make it up.

100%

I really think he will struggle with the back benches - I will wager a lot have constituents who would really rather not be, ahem, on any kind of database…

Also, the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that it would be better if Starmer remained as PM for as long as possible….

Yup, and frankly the thought of this shower announcing even more of a tax raid on "the broadest shoulders" in order to pay for a shonky, expensive, intrusive, compulsory online database that'll gift all our personal data to the world's criminal organisations... AngryAngryAngry

Very true.

CaveMum · 25/09/2025 17:32

BBC points out that Andy Burnham will have an uphill struggle to make it to Dear Leader, at least in the short term.

Firstly as he trades on his “Proud Northerner” roots he will have to find a safe seat in the Manchester area that someone is willing to step down from (2 MPs have already said they don’t step down).

Then he needs to get approved as a candidate, and as the group that approves candidates is full of Starmer cronies that will not be easy.

Then he’s got to actually get elected which, in the current climate, is not a given.

Finally he’d need to secure enough support of other MPs to trigger a leadership contest.

So all in all I’d say there’s no way they could get that all done prior to next May’s elections. Afterwards will depend on the results.

Yep. Lock the fucker in No.10 I say. Lock Reeves in with him.
We can watch them limp out in 4 years in disgrace.

(I'm annoyed about the ID cards, can you tell 😂)

burnham’s not leaving his northern powerhouse, not a chance.

I hear you. It’s the last thing I want under Labour. I suppose all those who voted for them are happy. Bloody Id cards.

Do you know what, I don't actually think this will be universally popular with Labour voters either. I think many of them will have the same reservations as you and I.

Aaaarrrrrr!

I deplore the idea of being tracked
I hate all forms of monitoring
I’d wear a mask every day if I wasn’t concerned so much about looking like some grey long haired loony

It's lovely, a bit small, only having one bedroom, but I've done the big house, huge garden, horses and dogs. This is my swansong and will future proof my living arrangements. Not that I'm intending to kark it anytime soon.😁

I hope so. Surely most people prefer not to have that state oversight. And Labour might not always be in if they feel more amenable to that party.
