I agree @LlttledrummergirI. They should just do radical things. Nobody can stop them. It’s what I hoped for. I normally think majorities large enough to do that are bad but we are in such a mess I thought it was useful to get some change moving. But they aren’t really taking advantage of it.

cardibach · 15/09/2025 11:18

Danny Kruger has defected to Reform.
As always I’m wondering why this doesn’t trigger a by election. Yes, we technically vote for a person but as a representative of a party and to help enact that party’s manifesto. How can switching be democratic?

placemats · 15/09/2025 11:20

SURPRISE! Danny Kruger MP has defected to Reform from the Tories.

Not surprised 😉His mum is Prue Leith.

Defections don't trigger a recall petition.

Notonthestairs · 15/09/2025 11:29

Kruger was a shadow minister wasn't he?

Good stuff. The more Tories joining Reform the better.

Pleased to see Davey push back on Musk like this.
Someone from the HoC has to.

Max Hastings hasn't joined a protest since 1968.

Also worth noting the money links...

The last donation declared by Legatum (rebranded as Prosperity) was £50k for Kruger's New Conservatives caucus in 2023.

Legatum/Prosperity sponsored Reform's conference & is working with the Reform-linked think tank/funding vehicle Centre for Better Britain

Legatum is Dubai based and owns a chunk of GB News.

BBC dutifully giving Reform the 50 minute airtime, with Q&A session!

The Guardian linked to the YouTube channel. The comments were interesting 😁

My body is saying put the heating on, but my mind says no.

DuncinToffee · 15/09/2025 12:12

Kruger doesn't think women should have absolute right to bodily autonomy

😀 oh yes .

I can't as my boiler is broken, looking forward to the new boiler bill when it gets replaced this week! I feel the cold so easily unlike DH who is not keen to put the heating on until about December!

Oh right, he wants to erode women's rights then. These lot can't get their story straight, I thought that Reform were going to 'protect' women and girls!

My heating puts itself on. It’s thermostat controlled and I never switch that off. I don’t care what the date is, if it’s cold I want the heating on. It clicked on this morning for a bit. It’s set to come on for a couple of hours in the morning and all evening if the temp in the living room drops below 19, so not extravagant. I had it set at 18 last year but that was a bit miserable.

It worked thanks Duncin made for interesting reading.
Kruger probably found his people I should imagine, it’s un democratic imo if you defect from whatever party a by-election should be called.
