Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

No idea why that posted before I added the photo...

Oh wow that’s fab! Love your DDs style too.

MsJinks · 06/09/2025 18:51

Finally walked my talk to go on an anti racism thing due to apparently there being a protest called outside the hotel opposite me. Police had blocked the road and entrance to stop any reaching the hotel and around 5 turned up only. My side were very friendly, all peaceful, and so nice to meet a range of folk that are not angry and you can debate with - in real life and not just this thread I mean.
Sadly I am told Wakefield have high numbers of hotel protestors and anti this are always outnumbered so far.
I was so outraged to find a planned hotel protest was to be happening here I just had to don my doc marts and go! Had a nice couple of pints after and happy with today, here, but obviously a lot more to do sadly.

Thank you, that was 2 hours worth of work... But we love doing it, it's creative and we bond over it. She pays for all the dye, obviously. We change designs every 3-4 weeks.

Yes, I didn't realise that until last month when I'm was reading an article about him being the originator of VAT on private schools.

Oops not 'originator', proponent.

BIossomtoes · 06/09/2025 18:52

Goldenbear · 06/09/2025 18:50

I was looking into the VAT on schools and in my research discovered this about Gove and subsequently that he was now a Lord. It was this article:

https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/michael-gove-article-from-2017-goes-viral-after-daily-mail-accuse-starmer-of-starting-a-class-war-339586/

Thank you.🙏

How have you resisted posting that link on the numerous threads about it?

itsgettingweird · 06/09/2025 18:55

Thanks for the link Goldenbear that was a very interesting read.

PandoraSocks · 06/09/2025 18:56

@MsJinks well done and thank you for going.❤️

MsJinks · 06/09/2025 19:05

That’s kind @PandoraSocks thank you - it was literally across the road so I couldn’t just watch any longer, but I have also joined the stand up to racism local group and will be going again to these things.
I have no reason not to go, as I know many will have, and I am getting more and more worried about the hatred to others - as well as where the far right will drag the U.K. for my kids/grandkids - glad I got of my ass and hopefully the asylum seekers will be able to get fresh air tomorrow, which they couldn’t today, and know that we aren’t all hating on them.

DuncinToffee · 06/09/2025 19:12

Well done @MsJinks , love the idea that you donned your docs for it.

We went for a walk and happened upon a movie set which was unexpected. No filming was going on.

Finished with a pint in the beergarden.

It’s my old age Nanna crisis - boots and protests 🙈🤣
Sounds a good afternoon for you too 🍻

@MsJinks well done and thank you for going.❤️

My thanks as well💐
thank you for the thread Duncin I didn’t realise Andy Burnham was a toffee everyday a school day.
itsgettingweird another one who needs a lay down after reading all about the early starts & travels around the country I salute you Pointy fabulous fabulous colours & design on dds hair hope you feel much better very soon colds are misery inducing💐
Andy Burnham Ed Milliband & Ed Balls are on my good people list also very fond of Emily Thornberry.
I’ve found it quite difficult today, dunno sort of feel as though an avalanche of negative headlines combined with very unpleasant gleefulness I wish Reform could be put into room 101 the hate & sheer stupidity they churn out it & the attention they are receiving is vomit inducing.
thanks all contributors & the beautiful tax photos a pic of my hair.

I love your hair, @dontcallmelen ! I'm just waiting for the last of my current teal to grow out and then I'll go pink for autumn.

DuncinToffee · 06/09/2025 19:34

Lovely @dontcallmelen

Thanks for the new thread @DuncinToffee .
@itsgettingweird your day is very productive 😊. I made an executive decision to have a day off, as my DH and DS2 were away for the day. So I basically sat on the sofa, most of the day, watching rubbish, eating kit kats and stroking the cat. It was brilliant! I'll probably rewire the national grid tomorrow to compensate.

Here is a recent holiday snap for tax. Lindisfarne. If you haven't been, go- it's amazing.

And well done @MsJinks. I'm going to try and go to the anti racism march next sat.

Adding my thanks too Msjinks Flowers

itsgettingweird · 06/09/2025 19:42

Love the pink don’t i had pink ends at one point and all these hairstyles are encouraging me to do it again. Although I love the idea of teal ends too now.

What I really want is to shave it off and have a flower design in pink like pointys DD but I’m not that brave or adventurous!

BIossomtoes · 06/09/2025 19:48

Fabulous hair @dontcallmelen. It’s so pretty.

I know, I think I got so so bored on the VAT on private school threads and was pretty rounded on on one of that I let sleeping dogs lie! I didn't want to be accused of, 'personal attack'. 😂

Cheguevarahamster · 06/09/2025 19:49

@dontcallmelen your hair is gorgeous.

PickAChew · 06/09/2025 19:55

Envious of all the colourful hair. Mine is resolutely salt and pepper and pretty dye resistant so I haven't gone there because it would need so much bleach to have any impact.

BIossomtoes · 06/09/2025 20:00

Mine remains its natural silver because I vowed never to dye it again when I stopped 30 years ago.

It’s been a momentous day in this house. My Telegraph reader of 50 years bloke is considering cancelling his subscription because it’s pushing Reform so hard.

Karistyleaftea · 06/09/2025 20:01

@Cheguevarahamster Lindisfarne is something special, I grew up in Northumberland so know it well.
Every year people ignore the tide warnings over the causeway. I trust you were fine?

It's very special. Oh yes we were absolutely fine. We got there just as the crossing started and stayed most of the day. Its such a magical place. Saw loads of seals!

dontcallmelen · 06/09/2025 20:30

Thank you for the hair compliments very kind, usually have pink somewhere in my hair occasionally had purple but weirdly it fades to a sort of navy blue which doesn’t suit me, I’m liking the idea of teal.

ilovesooty · 06/09/2025 20:48

Good evening all. I heard some of the speech from Farage on my way to the cattery. You could tell from the strangulated pitch that he was lying. Tolkien and little Tennyson kicked up a terrible racket on the journey home. They're very pleased to be back.
