Do you pee in the shower?

As per the title.

I have to admit that I do. Saves a flush.

I didn't say that

Well the person to whom I responded with laughing emojis did. So why are you arguing with me 🤷‍♀️

Ketzele · 06/09/2025 00:14

No, but the idea doesn't offend me. I find MN a bit prissy on body matters.

Yep if i get caught by surprise. No toilet in my shower room and it gets washed away 🤷‍♀️

Ewww… I can’t believe that people actually do this! How long do you spend in the shower to ‘caught by surprise’?

Would you have a wash using water from your toilet bowl? It doesn’t just get washed away. If you’ve pissed in it then it needs to be properly cleaned with disinfectant.

I don't believe you.

Why is this sniffing skill unique to cleaners? Householders who clean their bathroom themselves would smell it, if it were true.

You don't have to believe me, it makes no difference to me but I've been cleaning long enough to know if someone has pee'd in the shower. I do have a super sensitive nose though so i do notice scents that my family don't. But either way I know 🤷‍♀️

I do it in all showers that I use. Pretty much every time!

Seriously? Even in showers that are a line of cubicles, with partitions that are not floor-to-ceiling, so that the water from each shower isn't restricted from running over a little into the next shower?

You are happy for your piss to mingle with the water that someone else is standing in? Or for your dilute piss to lie stagnant in the unused adjacent shower until the next user comes in?

I really hope that isn't true.

Presumably you would be happy to wash yourself in a public toilet, provided it had flushed effectively?

I don’t pee in the shower but I have literally never in my life seen a shower as you describe.

I'm describing the showers at my gym. It's not a remotely uncommon set up. I must have described it very badly for you to think it unusual.

I've only ever seen full cubicle showers in the gyms I've been to; no gaps under partitions. Maybe PP is the same.

You are acting as if I don’t understand what you mean. I do. The fact that I have never seen it means it’s probably less common these days than you think.

AmberDuckBlue · 06/09/2025 09:50

No, maybe done it once or twice, but urine is acidic, makes the shower or bath and bathmat harder to clean.

Ok, no not those kind of showers. Enclosed showers with their own drain.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 06/09/2025 10:10

No because the water sits in the tray of the shower so it’s gross.

Just as a FYI, If you have a cleaner, we know that you pee in the shower. The smell is not completely washed away 🤢

I am not rich enough to have staff.

However, I'd say that's because a lot of women don't drink enough and their urine is really dehydrated. When I was pregnant, my sense of smell was really heightened, I think that's common to many pregnant women and oh my god it was so horrible doing into the ladies' loos at work! It's not something I've noticed before or since but I guess if you are up close and personal with someone else's bathroom you might notice if you are not pregnant.

Dehydration = smelly urine. If you have a cleaner and like to wee in the shower, please drink plenty of water :)

Just women?

Agreed. The showers at my gym (Bannatyne) have gaps at the bottom (and top) of the cubicles. I still pee in them if I need to though. I send a bit of body wash down at the same time. I am finding the shock and horror expressed about this by some posters, hilarious!

Eek. Mine's Bannatynes too. I'll take mini-sandbags with me next time, to keep the tainted flood in your cubicle.

Well I wasn't and am not, in the habit of frequenting male loos. So I wouldn't know. My DH and DS don't appear to be dehydrated.
