Do you pee in the shower?

As per the title.

I have to admit that I do. Saves a flush.

In one household with which I am acquainted, I had good reason to imagine an occupant was occasionally weeing in the shower, because the shower drain would periodically stink of ammonia. Not constantly, but episodically. Can anyone think of a non-pissing cause of such a phenomenon?

Kohll · 04/09/2025 19:23

My cat has started peeing in my shower at night instead of bothering going down to the litter tray.

Im crying 😂😂

ChocolateCinderToffee · 04/09/2025 20:20

No, I pee in the loo before I get in the shower. Same room.

Welltower · 04/09/2025 20:20

gruebleen · 04/09/2025 20:07

How does that work? I can't see why it would make any difference.

If you constantly pee in the shower it can condition the bladder to associate the sound of running water with the urge to urinate. It’s like reversing potty training in kids. You should train your bladder to hold urine. That’s why it’s not advised to go to the loo ‘just in case’ but only go when your bladder is genuinely full.

LetsTryAgainNowThen · 04/09/2025 20:20

Yes. Agree, saves a flush. But only in my own shower.

I certainly wouldn't poo in the shower, eww.

I wish my cat would wee in our shower! Unfortunately they like the curtains 😭

ManyATrueWord · 04/09/2025 20:22

Urea crystals can block drains so generally no.

I’ve added the image of what the dragon butter means (only words not a visual picture)

It's not though. But it washes off

I stand corrected. It does have a low level of bacteria.

MovingBird123 · 04/09/2025 20:29

No.

SliceofTosst · 04/09/2025 20:32

Yes. And for those that think it's disgusting, I bet most blokes in the house will.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 04/09/2025 20:35

Of all the things that go down the plug hole when I’m showering, I think wee is the least offensive.

BUT I’m a bit worried about people saying it’s bad for your pelvic floor so I think I’ll stop now thank you very much 🚿

MudandMoet · 04/09/2025 20:40

I do, I’ve not long since had a baby and my ability to hold my wee just isn’t quite back to normal yet.

While on the subject of waffle stomping - aforementioned baby has shit in the bath at least 6 times now… obviously it gets cleaned and disinfected after but come on folks, it’s really not that bad. I am a clean freak and this doesn’t bother me in the slightest, I suppose it depends what your clean up standards are like afterwards 🤷🏼‍♀️

NoWordForFluffy · 04/09/2025 20:02

I'd say Google it. But don't. Just pretend you've never heard the phrase. 🤣

Holy Cow! I so wish I’d taken your advice. Waffle stomping seems mild in comparison.

ResusciAnnie · 04/09/2025 20:41

Yeah. Good enough for Olivia Colman, good enough for me 😆

CalzoneOnLegs · 04/09/2025 20:43

@Kohll cats are very smart 🚽

DramaAlpaca · 04/09/2025 20:47

No, I jump in the shower after I've had a wee.

I wouldn't want to contaminate the shower tray; my weird dog likes a drink from it after I've finished showering.

cupfinalchaos · 04/09/2025 20:51

Urrgh that’s really grim.

ImFineItsAllFine · 04/09/2025 20:54

Belladog1 · 04/09/2025 20:04

I just did .... and the results are Welsh butter 🤣 I'm guessing that's not what's icky?

Me too... Probably should have stopped there and not repeated the search with Safe Search switched off😱😂

Do you pee in the shower?
arcticpandas · 04/09/2025 20:55

Not intentionally but if I feel like it I won't go to the other bathroom just to pee. It's not good to do it because it will make you associate running water with pee and you can get incontinent (according to something I read the other day). A non issue really.
My DS12 actually gets out of the shower to pee and it's wet all over the house. (Toilet not in shower room). I tell him to pee before or pee in the shower and he looked at me like I was an alien so I guess some find it disgusting. But I'm the one cleaning the shower regularly so if someone has the right to piss every now and then it's me.

Not sure it saves any water, unless you can continue washing at the same time. I can't. Many animals - including us? - cannot multitask while urinating. This avoids being distracted from predators.

Cherryblossom99 · 04/09/2025 20:58

Sometimes, however I have incontinence issues and the sound of the water sets it off without me being able to control it.

GreenFlag · 04/09/2025 20:59

Saves a flush?

Fucking heard it all now

opencecilgee · 04/09/2025 21:03

I am willing to bet that ALL men do.

BunnyNumNum · 04/09/2025 21:03

Surprised to see the comments about it being bad for your pelvic floor. I was told that it is good to pee standing up sometimes to make sure that you properly empty your bladder if you have a degree of bladder prolapse.

DarkYearForMySoul · 04/09/2025 21:03

Yes of course I wee in the shower - waste of water to do an extra flush, and it goes to the same pipes/sewers. Urine is sterile unless you have a UTI so why not?
