A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I don’t want to tread on anyone’s toes, but I do think these threads should be tolerant of dissenting opinion.

If someone pops up to make a point in favour of Labour I don’t believe they should be shown the door. That’s what the cat botherers on the Labour love-in threads do to posters who haven’t swallowed the Starmer Koolaid. And it’s very unpleasant.

ROFL.

I hear you, I really do.
I debate on other threads with those of a different opinion to mine most days. I am extremely tolerant, and am happy to chat with anyone who is polite and respectful.
But....
Many of us have been on the receiving end of some hefty abuse for our views over the years on other threads. I wanted to create a 'safe space' on an otherwise left-leaning site. Labour supporters also have their 'safe space' and I respect that. Both threads are echo chambers, but that's ok. Sometimes you just want to chat with people who have a similar view.

Agree. I’m also over the aggression etc and it’s nice to not have the same on this thread.

Ohmymamamia · 03/09/2025 18:40

Surely AR is going to have to say who gave her that “wrong” advice?
If that was me, I’d be providing the written documentation I had to say “look, this is what I was told”?

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 03/09/2025 19:01

It’s just occurred to me that Intel Lady must be praying that Rayner survives. The source of comedy that is AR is irreplaceable.

My favourite line on No Brainer with Angela Rayner was during the freebie clothes embarrassment when ‘our Ange’ lost her rag about someone in the comments section who’d said “the devil wears Primark”.

Given one reputable firm has issued a statement on this to distance from Rayner I’m willing to bet the mistake didn’t happen from anyone.

Whoever the journalists are they should get on to this additional ‘bad advice’ lie.

Yes It’s masochism to go on the ‘other’ thread. I went there the other day and my post was followed by a zipped lips emoji. Pathetic Never again

EmpressoftheMundane · 03/09/2025 19:25

The problem she’s got, is that she is either dishonest or incompetent. Neither is acceptable in her situation.

Lutonsgirl · 03/09/2025 19:27

I'll go with both!

I wouldn’t bother, too much aggro due to Labour loyalty.

Agreed. They do get nasty on that thread if anyone dares to dissent. I suppose a microcosm of real life, with Labour Loyalists.

sundayfundayclub · 03/09/2025 19:40

I'm always intrigued by this, is MNs really left leaning? I would say it's quite right leaning. I didn't know threads were safe spaces, how does one foster that?

AR position is surely untenable now, very stupid to make such a mistake.

Absentmindedsmile · 03/09/2025 19:40

Thanks for the new thread @TheNuthatch
