I’m trying to untangle your comment and failing. Children today will definitely know war once the global food crisis kicks in and millions are forced to leave their homes. We are heading for the end.

Hitler’s annexation of the Sudetenland wasn’t WWII, until it was.

You may just want to brush up on your history ....

There has been a war somewhere in the world every day of my life on earth. What more difference is one more ?

More scare-mongering and sensationalism

Yes - the DM is sensationalist.

However - we do need to be very prepared for another global conflict. Every century has been marred by such wars - we are complacent if we think our generation will be spared. There is no doubt in my mind that I will see a war before I die. Probably a joint Russia/CN land grab which NATO can’t ignore.

Cheepcheepcheep · 01/09/2025 21:54

Totally. I’m not a conspiracy theorist honestly! But the vast majority of ‘oh, this happened and now we will not look into it’ stuff just makes me think this is new warfare. And to be honest if it doesn’t involve a generation of young men being slaughtered at the likes of paschendale or Ypres then I’m all for it. Let the operators of this stuff pay the consequences and let the rest of us wage slaves just live in quiet discontentment imo.

Nihilistic, moi?

Yep all these power outages, banking apps, supermarkets etc issues pretty sure iys warfare

Crikeyalmighty · 02/09/2025 18:17

I see they are doing the national alarm thing again next Monday

"a brew" mings

I'd rather be at war

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣this so funny and the sort of phrase that makes me cringe too. Glad I’m not the only one! 🤣

BeansMeansFarts · 02/09/2025 18:17

When you see the Chinese and Russian army marching you can’t help but think we probably are screwed. God help us if WW3 starts. We wouldn’t stand a chance! But let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. Time for a brew. ☕️

It's China I'm more concerned with tbh.

And if you want the tin foil hat on I believe Covid was the start of it.

They have so much data now from us as westerners as we are gullible and by their cheap tat. Mobile phones etc.

I don't trust them a jolt.

And on a side note When Putin met trump it was all an act. He knows what he wants.

That's not fair - I loved my Huawei phone which I was not able to replace since UK banned them. Though the powers that be didn't seem to have a problem with us having our Huawei 5g WiFi routers.

What they need to do is harness the power of mumsnet, all of whom can make a chicken last a week, manage every eventuality calmly without raising their voice and who would prove a fearsome enemy.

That's the issue - they send the wrong people. If every country sent their 50+ year old women to war then we'd have it sorted in a week.

This, someone should ask Putin if he meant to be so rude!

Buzyizzy217 · 02/09/2025 18:21

It’s not going to be one more, it’s going to be billions of people scrapping for what food they can get. And yes I know there are always wars, but this will make WW2 look like a tea party.

Jadedand · 02/09/2025 18:23

Well there is some emergency phone alert test planned in the UK on the 7th Sept at 3pm, what's that for if its not to prepare for some sort of chaos?

godmum56 · 02/09/2025 18:23

NHS war preparedness is always happening, its just no one discusses it. I am amazed that France has till next year to prepare, if that is true. There are always plans in place and they get "game tested" on a regular basis. I used be involved in the edges when i worked in the NHS.

it has happened before, its just a regular thing.

Oh, yes, although I do wonder if he's neurodivergent? Perhaps he should be tested.

You mean the women who shake and sob if a workman asks to use the toilet or someone knocks on the door. The women who hate confrontation. Yep, they'll save us all.

Cheepcheepcheep · 01/09/2025 21:20

War doesn’t look like war nowadays. It doesn’t look like guns and bombs a lot of the time. It looks like cyber attacks and stuff. It’s a digital Cold War, and it’s been going on for ages - we’re already at war. I find it oddly comforting.

Really 🥺 tell that to people in Ukraine that it's only cyber attacks and stuff! FFS.

BeansMeansFarts · 02/09/2025 18:30

This country has been giving money / aid to India for years and now we see the Indian Prime Minister shaking hands with Putin. We trying to stop the war by not supplying aid to Russia and India is doing the opposite.

Balloonhearts · 02/09/2025 18:33

Oh give over. Russia can't even get a handle on Ukraine. If they can't successfully invade and take control of a tiny country on their own doorstep, do you really think they're going to war against the collective forces of NATO? The guy's crazy, not suicidal.

Booboobagins · 02/09/2025 18:33

We've been at war since we started to support the Ukraine. We just haven't yet deployed troops.

Its a sh1t show.

Racists running big countries is just big trouble.

Ive no idea what we'll do but I understand people carrying on working....

celticnations · 02/09/2025 18:34

The UK government decided that UK wide public resilience was too expensive. That's our starting point. Base line. Zero.

Since then we've had the Heathrow sub-power station outage. We can only hope that we've learnt from this & that somewhere public servants are beavering away at improving resilience.

It behoves everyone to do some form of preparation as per GOV.UK website advice for Emergency Preparedness.

Eg bottled water/canned food/batteries/candles-matches/crank radio-torch.

Medication?

Think how would I drink, eat, see in the dark, keep warm for 3 days (I'd plan a week but GOV.UK says 72 hours).

Poshjock · 02/09/2025 18:34

In fairness UK has been planning this for months. The UK defence review has put "Move to warfighting readiness" as one of it's key themes, directing all armed forces to start preparedness.

Drones on a Navy ship?... Yep, we're doing that too. The one linked here is SMALL btw. There are others, much bigger than your average SUV.

As you were folks ... back to the frivolity :)

We'll be fine.

Just get the kettle on. Have a brew.

You'll feel better.
