War doesn’t look like war nowadays. It doesn’t look like guns and bombs a lot of the time. It looks like cyber attacks and stuff. It’s a digital Cold War, and it’s been going on for ages - we’re already at war. I find it oddly comforting.

I watch the news occasionally and war still looks like civilians getting their limbs blown off and teen boys being conscripted and getting their limbs blown off.

War is war and it's the most evil depraved part of human nature. If there wasn't war time laws it would be your 6 year old getting gang rated before getting blown up

Well I'm sorry for scaremongering you so close to bed time.

I didn't actually read the article. Just saw the headline & it made me laugh.

But you didn't say that originally OP.

Tuesdayschild50 · 03/09/2025 16:56

In the UK nobody has had to live through war since 1945

Well being bombed by the IRA was hardly a picnic, was it ?

No idea - never affected me. A war would have.

Not really sure glossing over thousands of deaths and injuries is a great idea here.

broney · 06/09/2025 21:28

Stop reading the Daily Mail. Read an actual NEWS-paper.

Coco1379 · 06/09/2025 21:44

Get a wind up radio, plenty of tinned food and bottled water, then hope the
willy-waving idiots see sense!

FlappingMadly · 07/09/2025 07:40

@Coco1379 the 'real NEWS papers' report similar in a less sensationalist way and have done so for a fairly long time. Plus Putin and his ambassadors have repeatedly said that any European boots on the ground will go home in body bags.

SharonBe · 07/09/2025 14:56

Stop reading the daily fail. it's a hateful rag.

What they need to do is harness the power of mumsnet, all of whom can make a chicken last a week, manage every eventuality calmly without raising their voice and who would prove a fearsome enemy.

That's the issue - they send the wrong people. If every country sent their 50+ year old women to war then we'd have it sorted in a week.

I heartily concur. We're the modern day equivalent of the WI 😊

margonishna · 08/09/2025 10:50

I’m from Ukraine and I live in Ukraine now. And I don’t think it’s funny. Not because war is here, but because threats are real. RF won’t be calm and peaceful in decades. They threatened numerous times about going till Lisboa.
Also, unfortunately, it unbelievable how casual stuff like snow, which you mentioned, and other big and small issues can be naturally blended in war.
Personally I don’t think ww3 will be within months or next year, because they will need time to heal and prepare better.

💯 😘

Have you ever thought that the constant scaremongering about future disasters is a ploy to focus the collective mind-set away from current events if we are all focused on future crises we will not see the action we can take to improve the situation now its like a collective ‘malaise and nobody notices-because everyone is suffering from !it !if we look after today yesterday and tomorrow will take care of themselves
I agree that it’s important to,do our best to have good llives and healthy relationships but also disengage from things that we are powerless to change
