Labour isn't working - Thread 6

TheNuthatch · 22/08/2025 15:23

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Do we know when the Autumn budget will be delivered yet? I know it was Halloween last year but surely there is pressure to deliver it earlier than that this year? This uncertainty is dreadful for everyone.

Edited

The last I heard it will be in early November.

I would have thought they would be happy to delay it, given market volatility.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 02/09/2025 14:05

Oh, I don't know. I just presumed the not knowing was worse for markets? Well, at least nine more weeks of scattergun policies floated in the media to see what sticks - joy.

Exactly - the uncertainty and the fact that no-one in gvt has a clue, let alone a plan - complete bunch of incompetents -has there ever been a more hopeless bunch?

I am sorry Thenuthatch. I think things are bad for twisty too. My husband has just been made redundant after 19 years 😞. We have two DC at university. Our mortgage is not paid off. My job alone is not near enough. It looks like a tough job market about to get worse. If they come for our house and our pensions, we won’t weather the storm. In our 50s, we would struggle to rebuild. Our children our dual nationals, we are not. They could leave us behind, but we are pretty stuck.

I saw a man on linked in describe it as the “Film 28 Days Later.” Labour will cannibalise our corpses till there is nothing left and the country is just a husk with nothing left to build on.

Sorry to everyone struggling at the moment.

It really is like a living nightmare - every day it gets worse, with no respite.
The only thing I would add is - if there is a tsunami of job losses, business closures, defaults etc., this government will collapse.

People will be unable or unwilling to pay their debts, including tax.

Oh I’m so sorry this is so tough. So stressful and unfair.

Why are pro Labour not seeing this? It must just be public sector so feeling immune, for now.

This is why I maintain its not just incompetence. This is what they want to happen. It is calculated.
I appreciate it can seem a bit tin foil hat but look up Fabianism.....

But enough of that! Let's look on the bright side.....oh hang on!

Yet another approval rate drop. Bad day to be a cultist

Hollyohara · 02/09/2025 15:57

Tbh I’m now resigned to the next few years being shit under this ugly / bitter / Fabian / socialist / communist/ incompetent / nasty (delete or leave, as appropriate), government.

It will be tough and we are certainly battening down the hatches / closing ranks / pulling up the drawbridge (delete or leave, as appropriate).

And when Labour have disappeared into the ditch they crawled out of, we can all begin to build and spend money again, make money, be optimistic and aspirational for the future, for our children.

But it’s a shame. The good will has gone. It’ll be worse by the time Labour go, but at least there will be hope for the future at that point..

ps. I’m sorry to hear your news @TheNuthatch 😟 xx

Hollyohara · 02/09/2025 16:02

How can the Labour morons celebrate

  • ’more state school teachers
  • free state school breakfasts
  • 30 hrs free childcare’

When the schools / nurseries don’t have them / can’t afford it?? Fcking unbelievable, idiotic. 🤬 Yet Labour are braying about this stuff being provided. 🤮 . I actually hate them. They are the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing - and we can all see the deranged wolf now.

Yes it's definitely either get out of dodge or squirrel everything away for when it does get better again.
If we can get DD to end of Yr 11 in her independent school we will then pull her out, go to best state 6th form and taxpayer can fund her education.

DH is no longer looking for 100K jobs, what's the point as just going to get hammered so he is looking at 45K which is way below his skill and ability level. No holidays/home improvements etc (basically anything which helps support the economy). It's all being put into trusts for DD (thanks Raynor for giving us that idea).

TheNuthatch · 02/09/2025 16:09

Thanks all for your kindness. It's been a shocker today.
@EmpressoftheMundane Best wishes to you and yours xxxx
I can't put into words just how much I despise this government. Anyone who still supports this shit should hang their heads in shame.

It’s generally behind others anyway. In about 28% for Reform whereas another said 35%
