A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oh, I don't know, will the general public be as generous to, 'look into my eyes and think your boobs bigger' Polanski as the members?

Much as I can’t stand the Green Party on account of them a) Thinking some women have penises; and b) Performing Abysmally when they were ‘in charge of’ a council (Brighton somewhere), this is good news. Leads to more Labour vote splintering. Result.

Yep, hopefully he and Corbyn can finish Labour off between them.

Polanski sounds as described but the test for Labour will be if he mounts an alliance with Corbyn. Hopefully it’ll take enough votes to finish Labour off.

Oh I don’t know. Most people don’t vote green for any reason other than they dislike Labour and the conservatives. They’ve no idea what a Green Party would do if they had any kind of power. Well, unless they looked at the Brighton evidence. They won’t care. That works for us ;)

Well the fruitcakes can unite, it'll give us all a laugh. I don't think Labour has a hope in hell either way. Although if it eeks away at membership revenue it'll be a bonus.

I think it could be good, plus Labour thought they could get more votes with 16 year olds. The more Polanski / Corbyn / Sultana are on social media the more they’ll eat into that aim.

Yeah, there was a more in common poll in the Times, iirc, in which reform and your party were the frontrunners with the newly minted voters. I suppose the Greens would take a bite too.

Edit: Moron in common is not a thing 😂

Hollyohara · 02/09/2025 16:39

Literally poor old Labour. The unions really do keep them going. Sooner they’re gone, the better.

From AI..
Labour Party membership revenue for 2025 is not yet available, as the party's annual accounts are reported with a delay, with the most recent details available relating to 2024 and earlier years. Based on a BBC report from August 2025, Labour's total membership fell by around 10% in 2024, suggesting a likely decrease in membership revenue for the current year, following a decline from a peak in 2019.
What we know about Labour's membership revenue historically:
Declining Membership:Since Sir Keir Starmer became leader in 2020, the party has lost nearly 200,000 members, with a 37,215 drop in 2024 alone.
Membership Fees:Membership income was £16.2m in 2021, down from £19.3m in 2020.
Broader Funding:While membership fees are a source of income, the party also receives significant funds from donations from unions, major donors, and other sources.
What we can infer for 2025:
Continued Decline in Revenue:Given the continuing fall in membership in 2024, it is highly likely that Labour's revenue from membership fees in 2025 will continue to be lower than previous years, with the party's accounts for 2025 not expected for some time.
Focus on Other Funding Sources:As membership declines, the party's reliance on other sources of income, such as donations, is likely to increase.

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said more than 650,000 people have signed up to his new party - which does not yet have an official name - following its launch in July.

The Greens really are nuts. I mean seriously nuts. If an expand-your-breasts-by-willpower leader isn’t too mad for them, nothing will be.

Anyway, long may they siphon off Labour votes.

Arrearing50 · 02/09/2025 16:58

I don’t know how many times I have to explain to to my younger relatives that there’s never been a really successful wealth tax - they’re all either green/ex left or reform. Labour aren’t going to get votes from it that’s for sure.

sorry it’s been such a crap time @TheNuthatch

Arrearing50 · 02/09/2025 16:59

And look - Corbyn certainly old enough to know wealth taxes don’t work but clearly not wise enough!

So bad. I just saw the usual gumpf of Labour laughing in a cabinet pic. What can they be so chuffed about. Other than pulling the wool over the electorate.

Well obviously they are all feathering their own nest aren’t they. They don’t care about the plebs. The Labour MPs are getting wealthier by the day. And setting themselves up for when they get chucked out. So they are all pleased as punch with themselves.

Imagine in normal jobs where we need qualifications and have accountability for decisions made and actions taken. Imagine! They have none of that of course. 🤮🤮

It’s just the usual “nothing to see here” vibe Starmer likes to give out. Bet there’s some discontent behind closed doors.

Even Grauniad is hinting at serious division.
The I has quotes from a senior Labour figure saying Starmer has 6 months

Arrearing50 · 02/09/2025 19:18

Well they’re laughing aren’t they? They have a future of churning out books, appearing on podcasts and talk shows about their years in power and some nice little non executive position doing something. Starmer will be able to collect his rolls royce public sector pension.

Unlike the rest of us…

When I saw an image of Rayner getting out of a car this morning, wearing some utterly absurd sunglasses (probably freebies), with a grin on her face, I felt a wave of anger.

Ridiculous people, the lot of them.

Yes, I know the exact picture you mean, I notice Reeves isn't at the table though.
