A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Is it a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and let it self identify as a fox?

😂😂😂😂

Hollyohara · 29/08/2025 09:39

‘Which includes socialists, who I think are generally the most unpleasant, dishonest thieves of any political stripe. I actually don't think that's accidental - it's why they feel entitled to steal from everyone else.’

Wolves in sheep’s clothing! The Labour Party Fabian society coat of arms says it all.

It seems more than a bit off that you can tell the council one thing for CT purposes and HMRC another for SDLT purposes.

Reminds me of when my friend’s exh who’d tried to claim to HMRC that a house was his (parents signed over for IHT reasons) but to the divorce court that it belonged to his parents stil, do not hid asset to share….
The divorce judge told him in no uncertain terms that he couldn’t argue both… Unfortunately tho’ there were no consequences because these dodgy people always get away with it…

Has been said in LBC that she ‘took her name off the deeds’ of the other house before purchasing Hove’ -but you can’t just ‘take your name off deeds’ - tempted to call in to ask that. Surely there are CGT implications if you transfer it to another person who is not your spouse..?

She is getting divorced from her husband so you absolutely can in those circumstances. However, I suspect she has bought the Brighton flat as her main residence given that it’s an expensive property. She will probably buy something much cheaper in her Northern constituency and pay the second home stamp duty on that one instead, thereby saving herself some dosh.

I shudder to think we might ger Angela Rayner if Starmer goes.

It’s just come up on my news feed that she’s escaped the £40k stamp duty on the £800k second home she’s bought!
Will it ever stop? 😡

Not likely. Labour are the gift that keeps on giving.

Germany is looking to take away public funding to those asylum seekers who are appealling their deportations and expanding the number of safe countries that they can be deported to.
https://share.google/nSyxtJkmrx4PF33YY

Edited

Germany is deporting failed AS males to Afghanistan isn’t it.
Someone needs to get a grip but we have no leaders.
Perhaps the Blunkett suggestion of suspending the ECHR might work.
Northern Ireland is in the crossfire tho!

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 29/08/2025 10:40

I think, so far, those men have been failed asylum seekers with criminal convictions.

Edit: just a formatting quirk.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 29/08/2025 10:49

I think there's a lot of cross party pressure on the ECHR now.

I think having people like Blunkett and more recently, Jack Straw - who won't be viewed cynically by the government will carry more weight though.

When recess is over on Monday, it'll be interesting to see where all the chips land. It feels like there's been so much movement since they broke up.

Hypocrite. They all are.
I don't think any of this will go down well with her constituents. Her primary residence is now an £800k flat in Hove. Her constituency is a poor area in the NW. Perhaps she's thought, fuck it, I'm gonna lose my seat anyway, may as well grab what I can.

I mean the extra annual wealth tax that they plan to introduce on all homes worth over £?, to replace stamp duty. There's talk of it not applying to homes where stamp duty was paid - although I'd expect the amnesty would be a set number of years from when the stamp duty was paid rather than until the house is sold.

In which case, buying her mansion as close as possible to the tax start date would benefit Raynor.

The exact threshold of the new tax also hasn't been revealed yet.

Wonder when they started talking about the policy inside Labour? And who will be feeding into the specifics?

Who decides on what a house is worth? If the EA values it at £500k, I put it on the market for £510k and someone offers me £490k for it, and someone else offers £480k, what's it actually worth?

When you have a choice market.

i.e. When the bid/offer spread meets.

Until then, fair value would be the mid point.

Yep. Animal Farm.

How many times have we heard Farage being attacked for rarely visiting Clacton?
Yet Rayner moves to the opposite end of the fucking country and all is well.
Such bullshit.

I live in Farage's area (not Clacton, but a village in the constituency). I don't understand everyone who says he's never here. He is here SO much! More present than any other MP I've known

LupaMoonhowl · 29/08/2025 12:50

I hope Reform are ramping up their campaign in her constituency -preferably will s as candidate who’s always lived there.

LupaMoonhowl · 29/08/2025 12:55

Just saw that it was a 6k majority over Reform so with greater turnout and tanking conservatives and possibly split Labour vote with the Fruit and Nut cake party, she may have done the math (she clearly has friends who can help her to add up and take away when it comes to tax dodging) and realised that she’ll be gone anyway next time

LupaMoonhowl · 29/08/2025 12:57
