That first bowl of soup. Like a hug from the inside.

AuntyDepressant · 31/07/2025 17:25

Cold, wet, miserable. Yeah can’t wait. Not.

AragornsManlyStubble · 31/07/2025 17:25

Dog walks in the crisp air. 😊

AragornsManlyStubble · 31/07/2025 17:26

Or the pouring rain, I’m not fussy!

Don't you eat soup all year round?

Brownbearwhitebear · 31/07/2025 17:27

I do my best to enjoy all the seasons in their turn and not rush through one to the next but although I’m a bit annoyed about all the Autumn stuff in the shops already (since bloody June in fact) I can’t help secretly looking forward to it!

I love swapping my summer wardrobe for cosier clothes (that aren’t full-on winter wear) and feeling that chill in the air first thing that warms up to a pleasant but not oppressively hot day. I like enjoying a roast instead of salads, swapping rose for red and getting out my Autumnal candles which smell so lovely ☺️

Piffle11 · 31/07/2025 17:27

Love it. That Smokey bonfire smell, bright blue skies with the first frost mornings, pumpkins, cinnamon, and witchipoo stuff 😊

The best bit about autumn is possibly the end of it because we're a few weeks closer to spring if we can just get through winter. These two seasons just drag om and on.

ididitandthatsgood · 31/07/2025 17:29

Can’t wait. 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁
Conker collecting, soups and stews, the beautiful leaves, Gilmore Girls, Bake Off.
I can redo my autumn wreath from last year, make my kitchen shelf more autumnal.
Hot apple and cinnamon or ginger.
Cosy jumpers and nights in.

afaloren · 31/07/2025 17:29

I’ve already been to Homesense and bought my autumn candles for the year. Pumpkin, apple, bourbon, caramel, all my favourite scents. They put them out earlier every year and you have to snap them up!

Autumn is my favourite season.

I certainly do.

Singlehouseholdjoy · 31/07/2025 17:33

I love the crisp air too, and I don't even mind the rain either. I walk to.work and I don't mind a rainy day at all. I haven't been round the shops yet as whilst I love autumn , I like to enjoy the summer for a bit more. But give it 3 more weeks and I'll be hitting Homesense!!

I Love LOVE Autmn 🍂 my favourite season.

But I refuse to lean into it in July, or even August.

Trying to enjoy summer, but struggling this year due to health reasons, making hot weather make me feel very unwell, so hoping August will be lovely, but not too hot.

see you all in September! Or maybe the last week in August?!

Lovely crisp air, such a distinctive seasonal smell. Warm glow of candles in the evenings. Rich stews in the slow cooker. Annual rewatch of my favourite spooky films.

I'm looking forward to lighting the stove in the evenings. We're probably about 8 weeks away from that. After that, DCs activities should start to slow down for the winter which means less rushing around.

I'll change my flowers and candles to autumn ones once the kids are back to school in 4 weeks. Halloween decorations will come out at the beginning of October.

CandyCane457 · 31/07/2025 18:07

Oh I love it so much! 🍂
I love those first few weekend mornings where you wake up and feel the chill in the air, snuggle up with a nice breakfast and coffee.
All the scents…pumpkin spice, apple cider, pecan…love it. I enjoy the cosines of the nights drawing in and using candles and wax melts more.
I tend to buy my autumn/Halloween candles from Homesense over summer when they first start coming out, but my rule is to keep my summer scents out until September 1st, then I’ll have a swap over and get all my autumn bits out. I start watching Gilmore Girls towards the end of august too!

Wearing biker boots, and my hand knitted (by me) shawls, berets and sweaters

Agrumpyknitter · 31/07/2025 18:12

As a knitter I love the Autumn. It’s officially ‘sweater weather’, Bake off, Strictly and then into winter with Christmas festivities. We visited Connecticut last year in a sort of homage to the Gilmore girls and visited Yale too. I do enjoy summer but Autumn has to be my favourite season.

IndigoBluey · 31/07/2025 18:12

Ooh I was just thinking this walking home this evening on a beautiful day thinking we are definitely moving into that almost late Summer feel. The sun is a little lower in the sky, it’s no longer light at 10pm (north Scotland) and it generally feels calmer. I must say I am excited it is 1 August tomorrow. I look forward to that first Autumnal park walk with the crunchy colourful leaves, the bonfire smell in the air, reading the Waitrose mag or a paper in the pub on a Sunday with a glass of red and getting home to cook a roast for myself. Costing up with library books, leaving through cookbooks and planning Autumnal dinner ideas. Getting the candles out. Switching my wardrobe
