Just to add, for the lazy amongst us, in autumn there’s less fuss about “beach bodies” dealing with hairy legs, suntans, sweating and all that. Also we don’t have to suffer other folks acres of flesh, their manky feet and stinky pits.
Just chuck on a layer or two, no one sees our hairy bits!😄

😆😆 love this. So true 😊

Oh yes! I’m so happy the last couple nights have been cool enough to use my 4 tog duvet to snuggle under. My windows are always open and love the cool breeze coming in. The nights drawing in, the leaves changing, the crisp air … and then it will get cool enough to put on the fire - happy days!

CuddlesKovinsky · 09/08/2025 13:09

By the end of summer, I'm suffering a severe Roast Potato Deficit... 🥲

Norfolkbumpkin · 09/08/2025 13:28

Autumn is definitely my favourite season, the opportunity to slow down, reflect over the hustle and bustle of the summer months. I love the cooler air and the changing colours of the trees/plants, and the still pleasantly warm days of September. I launched into peri menopause earlier this year, and the summer heat has been an ordeal to go through with the hot flushes!

I am surprised at all the people decorating their houses for autumn. I just use the same stuff all year round..crockery,bedding etc. How very boring I am.
I used to love autumn for many of the reasons already stated but as I've got older I dread it as brings winter with it.Commuting in the dark, long tedious evenings etc. I prefer being out in the garden and growing herbs and feeling the sun on my face.

I'm sure there are threads you can better relate to, and maybe this one isn't for you? The title is clear, it's for autumn lovers, it's a nice thread, it's not to lament autumn. Although, I'd enjoy that sport of thread too 😆

I have prints that I interchange between summery ones and more moody cooler/wintery ones and I bring out the throws and blankets for the sofas.
Just a couple of things but changes the whole vibe.

I’ve always been an Autumn lover, I just love everything about it. Top faves are the food, stews, traybakes, Sunday roasts, soups, then crumbles and sponges for pudding.

When I was a child, I loved Bonfire Night, having a new winter coat and wellies, my cosy little bed and Christmas on the horizon.

Im an Autumn baby too, so maybe that has something to do with it. I like snuggling, I’m currently watching tv under various fleece blankets, with my PJs on, as I’m freezing. Bed is lovely too, we get to cuddle to sleep rather than DP flinging the quilt off randomly cos he’s too hot!.

This Autumn will be special in a different way, we get to welcome our new puppy!! We lost our lovely old girl in June and I’m missing her so much. We decided to wait a couple of months before getting another, and it’s been hell, if I’m honest. Just can’t wait for those dog walks again, with a new fluff ball around, playing in the leaves.

I literally LOVE this description especially the coat and wellies!!

I love autumn but I don't decorate the house. I feel like I'm missing out now.
Does anyone have any photos they would share of their autumn decor?

That's where I got all my ideas from , also I try to make what I can , rather than just go and buy stuff that's plastic etc

I agree that Pinterest has some fab ideas, and if you’re on Instagram there’s some great accounts with autumn aesthetics like “thelovelyautumnwitch” and “fall_christmasandcoffee”… I love seeing the things they put up!

Things I have in my autumn/Halloween box (that I can’t wait to get out soon!) are:

-A cute ceramic pumpkin
-TK Maxx do the best candles, a brand called DW Home is my personal fave. Flavours like Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider, Maple Pecan…you get the jist! They look lovey too, really nice autumnal colours.
-I have some material autumn leaves left over from a craft project a couple of years ago, brown, orange, red leaves that I scatter over my coffee table amongst the candles and bits, they bring great autumnal colour.
-I weave some fairy lights around the leaves/candles/pumpkin etc for a cosy effect.
-A copy of The Legend of Sleepy Hallow and Haunting of Hill House as coffee table books.
-Autumn mugs!

And my best decoration of all is, I have a little black cat! Love sitting cosied up with her with all the autumnal candles and fairy lights etc. Such a lovely time of year!

stclementine · 09/08/2025 18:16

bit cliched but….walking through the fallen leaves, watching the leaves turn and see my dogs excitement when a leaf 🍁 falls in front of him (he was only a baby last autumn). Plus burgundy - my favourite colour ever (whether it’s in fashion or not). Red wine, strictly come dancing and cooking lovely stews and casseroles. I’m a definite autumn person.

I made a list yesterday if some lovely autumn stuff I’d like from Amazon. Then I went to Sainsbury’s to see if any of their autumn candles and things were on the shelves yet. Sadly not. I think I’m trying to rush it on. Hurry up!! Xx

this was me last year. Except I knew m I couldn’t last long without a pup to love after my old boy finally gave in last summer, so got the new puppy last August. It is a complete shock to the system gojng from old to baby and also dealing with the intense grief I felt at saying goodbye to my old warrior. But a year in and he’s a total pain in the arse as he’s a teenager, but by god he’s wonderful. Wishing you lots of cuddles, walks and love from your little puppy.
