Patiently waiting for PSL to hit Starbucks...

My daughter said to me today that August feels like the 'sunday night' of the year.

I could understand what she meant by that.

I love Autumn its my favourite season, love the cozy dark nights & crisp frosty mornings. Also, the temperature is perfect to wrap myself up in my duvet rather than having rubbish nights sleep with the heat.

JohnTheRevelator · 01/09/2025 18:29

You do know that you will be accused of 'wanking on about wearing boots and cosy jumpers'? 😂

Singlehouseholdjoy · 01/09/2025 18:31

Yes some fun sponge will read the title, open it and take the time just to ruin everyone's fun

And Baker Off starts tonight. One of my favourite autumn programmes

I got over excited on a rainy afternoon and put up a few Autumnal things

Love this! Smile

Lovely thread.

I love autumn and winter I feel so much more "me" in the colder darker months I feel like summer zaps all my energy!

Love hot baths with the window open and cold air coming in, with a g&t and reading my kindle, love the crisp mornings, the lack of pressure to be out and about, life just slows down for us in autumn winter and it's much needed 🍂

Ah , I’d been looking forward to that tonight 😂

My autumn decor is out - cosy throws, loads of cushions and candles. I got a few new bits in Matalan over the weekend. I love their autumnal pieces this year.
And I'm off today so I'm making my first pot of Irish stew of the season
Happy Autumn, everyone 🧡

LivingForRedWine · 02/09/2025 14:28

Autumn is my favourite season. I love walks on the beach all wrapped up. The fresh air just blows everything away! Can not wait to get my jumpers and boots out!

This. Every word.

Summer, the heat, the harsh sunlight and the excessive hours of daylight drain the life out of me. I come alive in September and my spirits rise as the days grow shorter. I love drawing the curtains against the dark and lighting scented candles. Our house is old and a bit draughty so there's thick throws and knitted cushions on every sofa and armchair.

My Autumn/Winter wardrobe is thrice the size of my Spring/Summer one. I buy expensive knitwear, good quality boots and I own far too many coats. This Autumn I've treated myself to a buttery soft, tan suede jacket from Mint Velvet and a burgundy leather hobo bag from Whistles. And that's just the start.....

Covidwoes · 03/09/2025 20:20

Ugh no way. Hate rain and cold weather. Don’t know why I live here tbh. 🤣

@Arraminta are we twins 😂 I also live in a draughty old house (12 foot ceilings) with throws permanently out!

Im really I to wax melts at the moment I get them from Etsy.

It makes no sense that summer is draining but that's definitely what I find, that I have more energy in the darker months which is a bit back to front but such is life!

Yes we are the first DA twins! I also find dark, gloomy weather really invigorating, the stormier the better. Our house is late Georgian and while it has beautiful proportions it has virtually zero insulation!

TheGrimSmile · 03/09/2025 22:48

I love autumn. I can enjoy hot drinks again. I can cook roast dinners, make soups, light the fire, sleep at night with cool air on my face. I don't feel this pressure to be out doing things and making the most of the weather. I like coats and scarves and boots. Bring it on!

Tallisker · 04/09/2025 09:50

@Arramintayour suede jacket sounds gorgeous, but in the rain? Or the risk of rain? House sounds gorgeous too. I love lighting my fire and turning the Aga back on. Unfortunately I miss the long days of solar power to afford to run it ☺️

Cattery · 04/09/2025 10:06

Was woken this morning by the sound of a glorious heavy downpour of rain.
Yesterday I wore my long padded Superdry coat! First time in months. It’s blissful not to have to squint in the sun and the sun beating on my closed blinds indoors was getting past a joke. Bring it all on!!

Girasoli · 04/09/2025 10:07

I'm looking forward to our apples being ready in a few weeks - going to make so many cakes!

DS1 has finally got into Harry Potter and I want to try making warm butterbeer.

We've finally moved into a house so can decorate for Halloween and put a pumpkin outside.

We've already had a few rain storms, they are so nice to listen to when wfh with a cup of coffee or at before bed.

Don't worry it will only get worn after I have checked the weather forecast.

Oo we don't have an apple tree but you just reminded me of the apple and cinnamon cupcakes and loaf cakes I made last year. Will now be making one this weekend!

Also agree re the weather. My wfh office window looks out over the garden and it's so nice watching the rain with a warm cuppa.

RaraRachael · 04/09/2025 10:43

I normally don't like summer much because ours are usually rubbish but this year has been great so I've really enjoyed it.

However there is something comforting about coming in and closing the blinds and you're nice and cosy inside. I like a lot of hearty meals that are more autumnal and always seem to be happier dressing for colder weather.
