What did you eat today?

A few months ago there was a really fun series of threads where people listed what they’d eaten that day (and had a general chat).

I really enjoyed it but can’t find it anymore so I thought I’d start one.

It was really interesting and varied (it’s not a weight loss or judgy thread- unless the judgement is ‘that sounds delicious, what’s the recipe/where did you buy it?’). Everyone is welcome!

Today I’ve had:
Breakfast- Scrambled eggs, sautéed veg (tomatoes, red onion, spinach, mushrooms). And tea with milk.

Snack- Americano with milk

Lunch- Chicken salad (chicken breast, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, avocado, sesame dressing).
Followed by low fat Greek yoghurt with peanut butter, strawberries, nectarine and blueberries.

Dinner- Will be roasted salmon, homemade potato wedges, roasted courgette/tomato/onion/fennel.
Followed by a watermelon and lime ice lolly (I make my own so it’s just fruit).

I’ve just started weight watchers so it’s not the most exciting day (I’ve also tried to cut out UPFs as much as possible and use my points on high fat whole foods like avocado and nuts). I’m looking forward to living vicariously through other people’s treats!

Breakfast: Greek yoghurt, blueberries and a dessert spoon of mixed pumpkin, sunflower and chia seeds with goji and cranberries
Lunch: quinoa, spinach, chicken breast, avocado, peppers and sweet potato. Dressed with garlic, lemon juice and olive oil
Dinner: lean steak, homemade chips and salad leaves, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, peppers and beetroot

One cup of tea and 2 litres of water with cucumber and lemon. I will have another cup of tea later.
Currently fat but trying not to be, just over 1000 calories in total according to My Fitness Pal

I’ve had a shockingly unhealthy day.

No breakfast. A chocolate cookie mid morning. Lunch was some party sausage rolls, some mini cheddars and a lion bar. A mini chocolate cupcake (mini muffin size) mid afternoon and I’ve just had lamb chops and chips, followed by a big bowl of warm apple cake and vanilla ice cream. I’ve had a little bit of Lucozade and a full fat coke and I’m about to drink a zero sugar sprite.

I enjoyed every bit of it.

Go you. That’s what you needed, so that’s what you had! Tomorrow is a new day.

I’ve had two slices of yeast extract (tastes nicer than Marmite) on toast. Cup of tea. Glass of orange juice.

Packet of Walker’s ready salted crisps and a couple of chipolatas left over in the fridge with a Lucozade sports drink. (Went to physio session this afternoon at the hospital. Drank a bottle of iced water).

Just about to have mussels in a garlic sauce with some sundried tomato bread and my second glass of wine!!!

Yes I know, that’s a pretty shit diet but hey ho 🤷🏻‍♀️

@babasaclover certainly, it's in cups I'm afraid but it's worth it:

3 cups plain flour
2 cups oatmeal
2 tbsp butter
1.5 tsp baking powder
2 cups buttermilk (but I can never be bothered hunting round supermarkets and just use half Greek yoghurt and half normal milk mixed together, and it works perfectly well)

Rub butter into flour and oatmeal
Stir in the baking powder and some salt if you want
Mix in the milk until you get a soft dough that isn't sticky

Knead it very slightly and make into a flattened ball (1.5 inch thick) on a baking tray, cut a cross on the top

Bake 30 minutes at 220c then lower heat to 180 and bake about 15 minutes longer. It comes out crusty and delicious.

@MrsSethGecko thank you so much this sounds great. I make Irish soda all the time but really like the sound of the texture oats would produce.

also thanks for the buttermilk cheat, I sometimes make my own with lemon juice and milk but will defo try the yoghurt version. The lemon sometimes leaves a lemony taste in the bread which is less than ideal

Butteredtoast55 · 15/07/2025 20:04

Absolute shocker today: French toast with Nutella, strawberries, raspberries and yoghurt. A cream cheese and cucumber sandwich and a gigantic piece of coffee cake. Lots of water and a flat white.

This sounds amazing and I am going to bake it with my toddler tomorrow (he loves baking but isn’t very patient so this is ideal).

I’m also going to make your mutton curry for dinner (although possibly with lamb because I’m only going past a small supermarket and I’m not sure they’ll have mutton).

Maybe you could write a cookbook just for me 😂

Chilli bowl, with lettuce, cheese, avocado, sour cream and refried beans and a few tortilla chips.
A small scoop of Ben & Jerry’s half-baked flavour ice-cream.
An iced coffee (just a long coffee over some ice with milk).

I don't like creamy milk, so any milk is skimmed. A poster asked if people were fat/slim. I'm definitely a light weight, but don't go hungry and eat regularly as above.

Love a food thread:

Today: breakfast consisted of a slice of Sourdough bread with Marmite and two fried eggs. I had this around 11am, accompanied by two cups of coffee and water.

Lunch was half a Greggs Chicken bake and 2 mozzarella bites. I was out shopping. I also had a coke zero.

Dinner:

Leftover chicken wings from BBQ on Sunday and some pasta that I tried to make into cacio e pepe.

Drunk plenty of water - I try to have about 2 litres a day.

I won't eat now till about 12pm tomorrow as I try to do intermittent fasting and eat 2 times a day.

MixedMetals · 15/07/2025 22:15

Lunch was soup and some soda bread. I had some water with electrolytes and 4 drumstick squashies before my run. Dinner was lasagne and salad followed by an ice lolly and more electrolytres(I have a health condition that is improved by them so try and have them twice a day at least).
