What did you eat today?

A few months ago there was a really fun series of threads where people listed what they’d eaten that day (and had a general chat).

I really enjoyed it but can’t find it anymore so I thought I’d start one.

It was really interesting and varied (it’s not a weight loss or judgy thread- unless the judgement is ‘that sounds delicious, what’s the recipe/where did you buy it?’). Everyone is welcome!

Today I’ve had:
Breakfast- Scrambled eggs, sautéed veg (tomatoes, red onion, spinach, mushrooms). And tea with milk.

Snack- Americano with milk

Lunch- Chicken salad (chicken breast, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, avocado, sesame dressing).
Followed by low fat Greek yoghurt with peanut butter, strawberries, nectarine and blueberries.

Dinner- Will be roasted salmon, homemade potato wedges, roasted courgette/tomato/onion/fennel.
Followed by a watermelon and lime ice lolly (I make my own so it’s just fruit).

I’ve just started weight watchers so it’s not the most exciting day (I’ve also tried to cut out UPFs as much as possible and use my points on high fat whole foods like avocado and nuts). I’m looking forward to living vicariously through other people’s treats!

Have ADHD and a very weird food schedule, I often only eat once a day. But I love cooking and eating.

On the 12 I didn't eat, it was too hot for me!

On the Sunday I had homemade frozen potato wedges (that came out much nicer than the fresh ones! I'll have to do that again) topped with a whole ball of fresh mozzarella, topped with a whole homemade pre frozen tub of veggie chilli topped with a whole avocado. It was epic and made me so happy. Then I had an over ripe nectarine. Then I had a nap 🤣

Yesterday I had a pork chop with mushrooms and tomatoes roasted in the oven for half an hour with a 2 egg cheese omelette. This was followed by 1/4 of a homemade victoria sponge with half a punnet of strawberries and some clotted cream.

Today I've just put some frozen homemade bean enchiladas in the oven. I've got 2 more nectarines to eat that are very squishy and need to be eaten today.

I batch cook a lot, but I'm trying to run the freezer down so I can fill it with the hackney gelato! Ive got the banana pecan and chocolate hazelnut so far and they're amazing.

That all sounds so good. I have ADHD too and the only time my diet is remotely normal is when I’m on a diet because tracking things makes me actually think about what I’m eating!

I've fallen off the diet wagon rather over the weekend. Child broke her leg and I've been comfort eating.
Today I had oatmeal soda bread, butter and two tomatoes
Lunch was tortellini and courgette soup, some cherries from the allotment and three cinnamon biscuits.
Dinner, which I've just had early because I'm going to bed shortly, was mutton curry, a garlic naan, some courgettes, jelly and cream and some 85% dark chocolate because fuck it.

@MrsSethGecko I hope your DD is on the mend- it’s so horrible and stressful when they get hurt!
Comfort eating is entirely reasonable and there’s plenty of healthy things in there too. Did you make the mutton curry? DH loves it but I’ve never found a recipe I’m completely happy with (probably because I’m not prepared to use the industrial quantities of ghee and salt that I suspect our favourite Indian restaurant uses 😂)

@MumbleJumble123 thank you, she's more herself today but it's all a huge worry and hard to get a wheelchair up to a second floor flat with no lift! (I keep telling myself I'm burning off the extra caloriesGrin)
I did make the curry, I love mutton but it's so expensive these days I don't have it very often. I do two versions, one is tomato-ey and the other is drier. The tomato one I made up but the drier one is from an old Lalita Ahmed Indian cookery book.

FurForksSake · 15/07/2025 18:30

I made dinner and was then in too much pain to eat. It was only a bit of stirring and it was too much. Family has sticky beef and rice (beef mince browned with garlic and ginger, then a sauce made with cornflour, soy, oyster sauce and honey was poured in and I dumped in a load of frozen peas).

That sounds really tough, I hope she won’t need the chair for long.

mutton sounds good!

I know this is never going to happen but I’d love it if posters stated whether they were fat or not! I can’t believe the amounts of food some people eat in a day and I’m intrigued!

Hedjwitch · 15/07/2025 18:34

Bagel with butter and black coffee

Slice of lemon cake

Chicken wraps ( home made)

1 non-alcoholic beer.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 15/07/2025 18:35

Just started my period so my diet is all over the place.

2 sourdough crumpets with butter and vegemite
Coffee
A chicken ramen bowl from ALDI
Two packs of crispy seaweed
A mint chocolate fibre bar
2 chocolate shortbread rounds
2 chicken, mayo and cucumber pitta breads
Some cheesy doritos.
2 cans of diet coke
A litre of sparkling water/apple juice.

FurForksSake · 15/07/2025 18:38

Today I’ve had a packet of mini cheddars, a fibre one bar and a crème egg. I’m not fat.

im struggling to eat due to pain, small snacks are manageable when the meds kick in. It’s bone pain and doing my head in.

I’m happy to answer (although it’s just a nosy/inspiration thread about what other people eat rather than a diet/weight thread, so totally fine if other people don’t want to).

I’m in my mid thirties and on the borderline of normal/overweight BMI (it fluctuates between about 25 and 26).
However, I know that my muscle mass is pretty rubbish (I had 2 lots of severe hyperemesis within 2 year and lost a lot of muscle because I couldn’t eat or get out of bed). I also had gestational diabetes and needed big doses of insulin and strict diet which still didn’t control my blood glucose levels- gestational diabetes is a big risk factor for T2 diabetes so I’m determined to improve my diet/exercise to try and avoid/postpone that as much as possible (especially because I can’t tolerate medications like metformin).

I like Weight Watchers because I never feel hungry and can make nutritionally balanced meals that are easily within my points. I tweak it slightly so that I only use my daily points on healthy foods that are high in calories (avocados, nuts, full fat dairy etc) and try to avoid UPFs. I try not to use my weekly points but they’re for treats and to give myself a bit of leeway when eating out.

I’m not a natural exerciser, but I’ve also started couch to 5k, started seeing a personal trainer who specializes in postnatal fitness and building muscle, and I’m attending 2 classes at the gym each week. I’ve only been doing it a few weeks but I am starting to feel stronger and finding things a bit less difficult so hopefully I can put some good habits in place.

That was a very long answer to a short question! (I just try not to bore people about it in real life so it’s nice to write it down 😂)

If you get chance then please could I have your tomatoey mutton recipe (I usually adjust spices anyway so vague amounts are fine).

@FurForksSake I hope you’re feeling better soon, Mini Cheddars and a Crème egg both sounds delicious!

@tumblingdowntherabbithole I find the first couple of days of my period make me absolutely starving for sugar and salt. Crumpets would definitely be my first choice too!

Cheese toasties

Strawberries and watermelon

Fried egg, oven chips, mushy peas and bread and butter

Lots of coffee

WilfredsPies · 15/07/2025 19:13

I’ve had a shockingly unhealthy day.

No breakfast. A chocolate cookie mid morning. Lunch was some party sausage rolls, some mini cheddars and a lion bar. A mini chocolate cupcake (mini muffin size) mid afternoon and I’ve just had lamb chops and chips, followed by a big bowl of warm apple cake and vanilla ice cream. I’ve had a little bit of Lucozade and a full fat coke and I’m about to drink a zero sugar sprite.

I enjoyed every bit of it.

MrsSethGecko · 15/07/2025 19:20

@DuckyLuck I'm fat! Not obese- I've lost 3 stone and a tiny bit since last August.
My calories for weight loss are quite high compared to some. 1600-1700 does it for me but I'm very tall (nearly six feet) and have a lot of muscle on my legs and arms, walk at least ten miles a day and work in a kitchen so I'm on my feet there too. I can't eat less without feeling ill.

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 15/07/2025 19:25

@MumbleJumble123 honestly, the two days before and the first day are horrendous for me, I can eat constantly Grin

The crumpets were amazing! ALDI ones, lol.

MrsSethGecko · 15/07/2025 19:27

@MumbleJumble123 of course:

1kg mutton, not on the bone
A large onion
A medium sized aubergine
A tin of chopped tomatoes
3 tbsp of curry paste, whichever you fancy- I do sometimes make my own but generally cannot be arsed
1 tbsp honey

Brown the onions and meat in a tbsp of oil, add the onion, aubergine, tomatoes and curry
Bring to the boil and cook on a very low heat till it's all soft and thick and then stir in the honey. I usually put it in the slow cooker cooker once it's boiling, before I go to work.

Season it if you think it needs it. It's not very exciting sorry! Tastes good though.

Solero

Salmon fillet with creme fraiche / stock sauce, leeks, peas and broad beans (BBC good food recipe) with mashed potato

MrsSethGecko · 12/07/2025 12:46

Oatmeal soda bread, butter, feta cheese and a beetroot whilst it was cool this morning.

Tried some pasta and courgette soup just now but it's so hot I can't.

So it'll be pasta and courgette soup for dinner!

Do you have a good oat soda bread recipe please?
