Eating animals

To me killing animals and keeping them the way we do should be illegal. And them queuing up to be killed in an abbatoir and scream on the way in. It's barbaric and medieval in my opinion. Eat something else!

I don't. I'm veggie.

I'm saying meat eaters should watch the horrors of slaughterhouses so they are fully informed before tucking onto their bacon butties.

Well, shall we force you to watch habitats being destroyed by humans in order to make way for soya plantations and the like?

TheGrimSmile · 12/07/2025 16:43

So many "animal lovers" only care about pets. It's so strange.

Not really.

We're omnivores, we eat animals. We also use animals for work etc pets are a natural extension of us domesticating some animals..

Why is it in these threads the animals always scream and are terrified/suffering. People always have to transpose extreme(human) emotions onto animals.

Well done op for goady thread 101. Reported.

Watch footage of animals about to be slaughtered. It's quite clear they are terrified and pigs do scream and cows cry. I didn't believe that until I read something written by an ex- abbatoir worker and I've since seen videos. We really aren't that different to animals. Tell yourself what you like to try to assuage your guilt.

Gloriia · 12/07/2025 16:47

We see clips on X of cute animals being rescued, little ducklings being saved when separated from their parents and everyone going awww yet meanwhile hidden away hundreds of thousands of defenceless animals are rounded up, transported miles to then have their throats slit and left upside down to bleed to death.

It staggers me that a supposed intelligent and empathic nation can coo over some animals but not others and think it's ok cos yum ham sandwiches 🤮.

Avocados guzzle up huge amounts of water. A single mature tree in California, for example, needs up to 209 litres (46 gallons) every day in the summer – more than would fill a large bathtub. It is a staggering amount in the dry summer months in water-stressed regions such as California, Chile, Mexico and southern Spain, where many commercial avocado crops are grown, and puts huge pressure on the local environment.

Tree nuts in general are perhaps the anti-heroes of the vegan diet. They are packed with valuable nutrients and proteins, yet they arguably take more than their fair share of environmental resources.
Cashew nuts, almonds and walnuts are some of the most water-intensive large-scale crops grown on the planet. Poore estimates that between them, tree nuts consume 4,134 litres (909 gallons) of fresh water for every kg of shelled nuts that we purchase.
Almonds, he says, need comparatively large amounts of water, pesticide and fertiliser, which makes their environmental impact disproportionately large. One study, funded by the Almond Board of California, found that the average almond grown in the US state requires 12 litres of water, or 10,240 l/kg of kernels.

I don't eat advocados.

We aren't talking about the environment we are talking about the cruelty and slaughter of defenceless, terrifed animals so you can have a big burger. It isn't ok.

It’s absolutely fine, no matter what you think it’s fine.

So that’s ok then, you’re not bothered about harming the environment.

Always a sign that someone hasn't anything constructive to offer when all they've got are typos. Well done hun you seem so very very excited about it!

This thread is about animal cruelty, the horrific slaughterhouses and the disconnect that people can coo at the cute piggies and lambs at farms without caring about thow they end up on their plate.
Pork pies and sausages are not worth the suffering that animals endure.
Eat healthily, try a bit of fruit and veg.

Oh I do with my chicken/steak/fish yum

'But hey, you don’t eat big burgers, roast lamb, or any other meat, so you’re to be revered'

Well revere me if you like I can understand that. However I'm just trying to make some of you think a greasy butty isn't worth the suffering that animals endure.

Try some kindness and empathy?

It’s not medieval at all. It’s a very modern practice.

I don’t disagree with meat eating but I think the sheer volume of meat we eat is unnecessary and the resulting factory farming is a huge negative.

Gloriia · 12/07/2025 17:37

'It’s not medieval at all. It’s a very modern practice'

It is barbaric. More so that 'halal' seems to have crept in without anyone giving a shit as long as they get their yummy meat.

Glitchymn1 · 12/07/2025 17:39

Halal has indeed crept in. Vile.

Honestly it’s not working, give up!

In fact I’m going to be adding some advocados to my Sunday morning bacon butty, try it, it’s lovely.

Why don't you care that animals suffer horribly so you can have a greasy butty? As an aside arent you bothered about eating more healthily?

ShesTheAlbatross · 12/07/2025 17:51

foreverand · 10/07/2025 18:25

I agree but you won’t convert anyone like this.
Guilt is a difficult emotion

It’s very tedious when someone assumes that people with a different opinion to them are either feeling guilty, or in denial etc.

It can’t actually be beyond your comprehension that some people don’t feel guilty about eating meat?

My butties are never greasy!

Bloody cheek.

@Bearsaloud and @gloriiaetc
do you honestly think you are going to persuade anyone to give up meat based on this thread?

Gloriia · 12/07/2025 17:58

'It can’t actually be beyond your comprehension that some people don’t feel guilty about eating meat?'

No-one has said why they don't care that animals suffer horribly so some of you can have a greasy butty.

Is it denial or naivety? Do people think slaughterhouses are lovely places for animals. They are scared and treated appallingly!

Why don't you care?
