Eating animals

Bearsaloud · 10/07/2025 18:15

To me killing animals and keeping them the way we do should be illegal. And them queuing up to be killed in an abbatoir and scream on the way in. It's barbaric and medieval in my opinion. Eat something else!

Yep, and I have my bacon.

I agree but I eat meat because I'm a hypocrite. Eventually I'd like to switch over to shot wild meat, and only large animals so it's less life taken and they had a decent life beforehand.

People who mock and say mmmm meat make me smell cellulite and fat upper arms through the screen.

I had a lovely bacon bap today with lashings of ketchup. Currently enjoying a chicken roast. Delish.

The most boring reply ever and so predictable

A question popped up on that said what is legal that you're surprised is not illegal and I thought I'd answered this.

Didn't think I'd started a thread !! 🤦🏼‍♀️

obvs riled a few meat eaters who want to tell me how they are polishing off their steaks

Edited

On Mumsnet? I’ve never had questions pop up like that and I’m on here too much a lot! How odd.

That's rich, coming from someone who managed to start a thread on MN without realising 😃

“People who mock and say mmmm meat make me smell cellulite and fat upper arms through the screen.”

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Is this part of the meat sweats, meat breath, meat farts, meat shits? Because it absolutely does stink!

Glitchymn1 · 12/07/2025 05:40

@hamstersarse you are talking out of it with that comment. 😆Jesus wept.

But no asparagus wee!!

'People who mock and say mmmm meat make me smell cellulite and fat upper arms through the screen.'

Yep and the bad breath and dodgy guts from all the rotted meat congealed in their bowels.

Go veggie it's far healthier and poor cute animals don't have to be terrified and slaughtered horribly so you can have a pork pie or sausage roll 🤮.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 12/07/2025 10:48

I haven't eaten meat for over 35 years after visiting a farm as a teenager and being directly confronted with the reality of the meat industry. And I will never eat meat again.

However, that's a personal decision and I don't judge others for what they choose to eat. And I certainly wouldn't go posting sanctimonious messages about it on the Internet.

MrsSkylerWhite · 12/07/2025 10:55

Bearsaloud · 11/07/2025 11:41

I would have helped the pigeon and not watched.

I could never eat a lamb, they're beautiful and just babies

You’d want the sparrow hawk to starve?

First rule if you want to observe wildlife. Don’t interfere. Nature is very carefully balanced. Interference from humans causes all manner of harm.

AI will tell you
The general production method involves soaking and grinding almonds in an excess of water. A milky white liquid is obtained after filtering the almond pulp (flesh). Almond milk can also be made by adding water to almond butter

Edited

An excess of water is environmentally problematic.

Agree and missing the point of the thread about illegality. If this was an exam question that’s a Fail. Like so many on here. Do people really not know how do discuss. ?!

Gloriia · 12/07/2025 11:25

'I have killed a chicken to eat - only once; I thought I should - and I've watched a calf being slaughtered. It was upsetting. Then I had veal for dinner'

Why would anyone think they 'should' kill a chicken to eat?! Maybe do a shift in a slaughterhouse that would be more relevant and probably put you off nuggets for life.

Also why would anyone watch a calf being slaughtered? Haven't you got any hobbies or friends, others things to do?

ThisTicklishFatball · 12/07/2025 13:54

Was this thread created solely as a platform for people to share hate speech against omnivores?
I feel like people are too lazy to research and visit "ethically and politically correct" farms to witness firsthand what happens there.
I get the feeling that vegans and vegetarians on the internet who are always looking for a fight are just keyboard warriors who secretly consume animal products at home while also engaging in activities that harm the environment, like using the internet itself.
Vegans and vegetarians also impact the environment, whether it's through the food they consume, using the internet, enjoying daily comforts, simply being alive, or having children, and so on. They believe they’re speaking from a higher ground, but they’re too arrogant and ignorant to realize they share the same space as omnivores.

Glitchymn1 · 12/07/2025 14:16

@ThisTicklishFatball Hardly. Nobody is looking a for a fight and if I ate meat I’d probably look at this thread and think I won’t comment or agree that is cruel but that I can’t help myself and enjoy meat too much. I certainly wouldn’t double down and say it’s not cruel! Because that’s just ridiculous!

You get the odd poster saying ‘I’m off to have a bloody steak’. There’s no need is there.

I’m sure most farms are fine, it’s the slaughtering that sucks. I think it’s the unwillingness to say ‘yes it’s cruel, but I don’t care’. The thread isn’t about the environment. Hell we are all going to die, nobody is getting out alive and resources are finite.

Gloriia · 12/07/2025 14:25

'I feel like people are too lazy to research and visit "ethically and politically correct" farms to witness firsthand what happens there.'

Ethically and politically correct farms aren't the problem it's the horrific slaughterhouses where those cute harmless animals that you see in fields are treated appallingly and killed so you can stuff your face with burgers and sausages.

There is a better way, far more healthy and you don't end up wirh dodgy bowels from all that meat that you're trying to digest!

There's not much harmless about a field of cows and calves or a bunch of full grown sows or boars.

speakball · 12/07/2025 15:01

What led to me going vegan was seeing how much I worry about my cat while eating meat. I think the cognitive dissonance got too loud. Bloody cats!

They're pretty harmless unless people barge in and spook them.

Watch some clips of slaughterhouses, see how much you enjoy your roast lamb after seeing how terrified they are before being brutally slaughtered and chopped up.

I don't. I'm veggie.

I'm saying meat eaters should watch the horrors of slaughterhouses so they are fully informed before tucking onto their bacon butties.

Don’t tell me what to do!!

I tell you what, how about you MYOB and get on with your life and keep out of mine?

Bloody cheek…. Telling others what they should or shouldn’t watch, like you’re informed that these videos are “awful”, you don’t even watch them.

Zwellers · 12/07/2025 16:37

Why is it in these threads the animals always scream and are terrified/suffering. People always have to transpose extreme(human) emotions onto animals.

Well done op for goady thread 101. Reported.
