What’s going on in my Neighbours house?

Ricepuddins · 03/07/2025 13:35

Before I’m told to mind my own business, these neighbours are making our life hell with the noise they generate so it’s hard to not notice the strange things going on there. I work from home and my desk overlooks the close.
its a couple aged around 40 living there, they had a baby around 2 months ago but it hasn’t been seen since they came
home from hospital. I saw the woman take a car seat out recently but it was empty, it was still empty when she returned. So if there is a baby she must have left it home alone. We heard a baby cry once but it sounded like a much older baby around a year old, definitely not a newborn.
There are people coming over at midnight every day, they are very loud and don’t leave until around 2am sometimes. There are often children with them and it’s a school night. Some of the people who enter the house I don’t see leave. I have a ring doorbell that unfortunately picks up everything as our front doors face each other. There was a woman who stood out as she didn’t look anything like the couple or their family who seem to be their only visitors, she went into their house around 11 and I never saw her leave. That was a week ago.
The woman rarely leaves the house herself and I can hear her vacuuming for hours at a time. I’ve never met her and they moved in a year ago.
They do their gardening in the dark, no lights what so ever.
The man used to say hello to my husband every morning when they left for work but now he looks at the floor and doesn’t acknowledge my husband since he asked him about the noise.
not only does their constant noise affect us it’s starting to make me nervous about what sort of people they are. Mentally unwell or criminals is my guess. My husband thinks they are swingers. Although this doesn’t explain the missing newborn that has never experienced daylight.
Does anyone have any idea? Lighthearted speculation welcome. But it’s a genuine post and I don’t know if I should do anything or forget it, it’s making me uncomfortable tbh.

Trafficking? Police witnesses? Spies?

Ricepuddins · 03/07/2025 13:52

Interesting theories
trafficking has crossed my mind but I wouldn’t know how to be certain of it

Did you actually see the baby when it came home? Because after I had my baby, people probably assumed she never left the house, but actually she was still in the NICU and I was coming in and out of home to shower / change clothes / catch up on sleep etc.

purplecorkheart · 03/07/2025 14:02

Maybe the baby is still in hospital or was removed at birth by a Social Worker.

Ricepuddins · 03/07/2025 14:22

Yes definitely saw the baby but that was the only time

Lighthearted the baby is a vampire baby and grew up fast to 1 year within a month. It feeds only on sacrifices so the parents lure people there to feed baby. Baby can’t come out during daylight or it’ll turn to dust.

When I gave birth my dd had to remain in hospital for 8 weeks in neonatal. I saw a lot of parents giving me the side eye in the playground as my bump had suddenly disappeared and I had no baby with me.

Y2ker · 03/07/2025 14:29

My guess is SS has removed the baby from their care. I'm really nosey because I live next door to a loon but I still miss things (which other neighbours see!)

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 03/07/2025 14:36

Well I have no idea and you'll probably never find out which is ridiculously intriguing!! Seriously though I hope the baby is ok, worth a call to SS..? That probably sounds stupid given the tiny bit of info you have but it does sound odd.

caringcarer · 03/07/2025 14:44

Very intreaguing. I'd be looking out the window waiting to see the next episode. 🤣

Cattery · 03/07/2025 14:48

I find it fascinating to watch what the neighbours are up to. Love trying to work it all out. My dh has no interest whatsoever. I say to him “do you not want to know who walks amongst us?” He says “no”. Strange

UnfashionableArtex · 03/07/2025 14:52

Baby with colic and the white noise of the vacuum cleaner helps to settle them. Too stressful to take the baby out.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 03/07/2025 14:54

Late night callers are usually drugs

Zellycat · 03/07/2025 15:13

Baby has medical concerns, , . health visitor?

limescale · 03/07/2025 15:17

How close are your houses to each other than your Ring door bell picks up all their guest entering and leaving? Is there no other access to the property?

You say you live on a close. If the houses really are so close then I imagine your other neighbours have seen the strange comings and goings.

RepoTheGeriatricOpera · 03/07/2025 15:19

Ah yes, I remember being pregnant and my nosy neighbour came out and told me all their speculation about my baby after she was born, laughing at their oh so hilarious conspiracies, especially as there was lots of people coming and going.

Until I told her that my daughters funeral was the following week.

She didn't find it so funny then.

Newblackdress · 03/07/2025 15:25

If my neighbour was regularly getting visits in the middle of the night from adults bringing children with them, I would report it to the police and/or social services. It is hard to think of an innocent explanation. If investigated, the couple would be asked about their own child/children.

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 03/07/2025 15:29

Maybe if more people did report suspicious activity less dc would die from abuse?
I reported a horrific family a few weeks ago. Think 2 under 5's playing out in pants /nappy and a huge ddog that lives in the bathroom so the dc knock at various houses for the toilet...

Changetheguardsboots · 03/07/2025 15:31

Report to the correct authority please

Mrsgus · 03/07/2025 15:35

Most definitely Vampires. Get some garlic and a cross on your door!!

rainbowstardrops · 03/07/2025 15:39

Very odd.
Would they be drawing attention to themselves with the noise if they were doing anything really dodgy? Surely they’d keep their heads down?
Maybe the vacuum cleaner is on to soothe the baby?
If the noise is really awful then I’d go round there again and ask them what the fuck is going on to keep the noise down.

Clockworkchocolateorange · 03/07/2025 15:40

I would be concerned about children regularly going to the house late at night. All sounds very dodgy. I’d be reporting the noise disruption just for the excuse of having the police go and check things out.

Fatiguedwithlife · 03/07/2025 15:41

Following for an update. Hope it’s nothing sinister but it doesn’t look good, OP.

VirginaGirl · 03/07/2025 15:43

Gardening in the dark is interesting.

We once had neighbours who would have people back after pub closing time. But they all drank and played loud music.

Do you ever smell weed at all?

treacletoffee23 · 03/07/2025 15:51

Please ask the Police if a welfare visit is an option. I would rather be wrong, and to upset the neighbours, than think of a defenceless child suffering

amyds2104 · 03/07/2025 15:54

I know people who hoovered at night but it turned out they were clearing up their cannabis farm cuttings! You can submit intelligence/concerns online if you are embarrassed to raise your concerns in person either to police or social services. However vague they can build a pocuture if something untoward is going on
