Glastonbury-who’s left to do the Legends slot?

Who is left, that is a legend, has enough absolute bangers to sing along to, doesn’t take themselves too seriously, is maybe a little camp(in the glam, fun sense)and is still alive (and is capable of singing still)? All the ones I can think of have either done it, are dead or are more headliner fodder. The only ones I can think of are Blondie and Neil Diamond?
And given that most legends are now ex legends, who would be your dream Legend?

Frankie Valli would be incredible.

I love Frankie Valli but saw him on something recently and he looks so old and frail. He was struggling moving round the stage, barely sung at all (bank-up singers did pretty much all of it) and when he did, it was really not great 😬

He would have been a good one around 10 years ago though!

the80sweregreat · 03/07/2025 13:34

Brian ferry would ace that sleepy afternoon slot on a Sunday with some lovely jazzy hits.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 03/07/2025 13:35

What about Madness?

Pedallleur · 03/07/2025 14:45

Madness was my thought or The Cure or depeche Mode, Simple Minds? these are acts that can tour on their own merit tho.
bryan ferry is 80

AngelsWithSilverWings · 03/07/2025 15:36

If Spandau Ballet can get it together again they would be great.

Depeche would never do it. They could easily headline like The Cure did a few years ago. They are complete bloody legends.

Soft Cell would be amazing.

Elvis Costello would smash it.

threesocksmorgan · 03/07/2025 16:11

madness would be fun

PollyIndia · 03/07/2025 17:29

I've got tickets to see David Byrne in London next year, he's amazing live.
Guns n roses headlined a few years ago and were dreadful.
I'd love Kate bush but wont' happen. }
We were chatting about Sade at work today. She'd be amazing but wouldn't do it. Suggs' daughter is my friend's neighbour so he's always turning up at stuff, he'd defo do it! Cure are headliners and did it in 2019.
I go to Glastonbury every year, my favourite legends were Paul Simon, Kylie and Lionel Ritchie. Diana Ross was not good. voice gone.
Fleetwood Mac never, not enough money, abba never, thats why they did voyage. And madonna would be a headliner, not a legend. I don't think she'd like to think she was old enough! But I'd love to see her there.

PollyIndia · 03/07/2025 17:31

Oh I forgot about dolly who was another amazing favourite.
I'd love to see donna summer actually, that slot would be perfect. And Tina turner would have been great, but obviously too late now. Spice girls? No Victoria obvs but would still be fun.

LlynTegid · 03/07/2025 17:32

I hope no-one.

Time to end Glastonbury for good. Sir Rod Stewart and the guests who sang with him would be a fitting last legends slot.

mylittlekomododragon · 03/07/2025 17:33

@OhwhatfuckeryitistorideDid you cat h the recent Jerry Harrison/Adrian Belew Remain In Light Tour? Next best thing, it was amazing.

Frankie Valli would be incredible.

Frankie Valli would be amazing, but I’ve seen him live a few times in recent years and they are almost wheeling him on, it’s beginning to feel like elder abuse.

My vote would be for Carole King.

Lessstressedhemum · 03/07/2025 17:39

Bon Jovi
Rick Astley
GnR
Maiden
Dolly
Simple Minds
Tom Jones

Lessstressedhemum · 03/07/2025 17:40

Oh, Lionel Ritchie would be ❤️

Doseofreality · 03/07/2025 17:41

Take That

or

Steps

Superhansrantowindsor · 03/07/2025 17:45

I can’t believe someone suggested Bananarama - they are absolutely awful and it would be an insult to other legends. I know someone who went to see them a few years ago. They just mimed to a track.

Mistyglade · 03/07/2025 00:12

Frankie Valli would be incredible.

He is terrible now - I’m sure the crowd would be right behind him but honestly he should not be still singing.

Dragonfly97 · 03/07/2025 17:48

Tony Hadley?

Superhansrantowindsor · 03/07/2025 17:51

Carole King
Paul Simon
Annie Lennox
REM (won’t happen I know)
Duran Duran
Madness
Bruce Springsteen

realsavagelike · 03/07/2025 17:52

No Christine or Lindsey = no Fleetwood Mac. And yes, probably not enough money for Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks

realsavagelike · 03/07/2025 17:54

Yes please to Weird Al - true legend!

Bananarama would be good.
Duran Duran definitely
Japan would have everybody swooning
Depeche Mode would be LOUD
or
Bon Jovi
or Iron Maiden
or Def Leppard

BANANARAMA????
sorry but… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PollyIndia · 03/07/2025 18:11

Bananarama played mighty hoopla last year, and I was side of stage, could clearly see they were 100% miming.
Lionel Ritchie played that slot in 2015. Paul simon has done it like I said, that was so fun singing along to you can call me al. Take that is a great shout though!

ImAPreMadonna · 03/07/2025 18:12

Lessstressedhemum · 03/07/2025 17:40
