Anyone else appalled and shocked at Dawn French's social media video mocking the reaction to the terror attack in Israel on Oct 6th. What on earth was she thinking ? She comes across as horrible and lacking in any empathy. I feel sorry for the innocent people on both sides of this war, in Palestine and in Israel.

But It didn’t start on the 7th of October. Many people have of course followed this conflict for decades and know that very well. 7th of October didn’t come out of a vacuum. It’s a conflict which seems impossible to resolve due to both parties involved.

Please let our country finally respond and do the right thing in this awful situation

You said what she was saying was fine @2021x it was just the way she said it. I may be reading you wrong here but do you think the events at the festival were just a bad thing?

My understanding is that the message she was attempting to convey was critical of the actions of the Israeli government and the Israeli defence force towards the general population in Gaza is unacceptable. I think that is perfectly fine to do.

Her delivery did not do a good job at conveying this. I don’t think based on this post she is antisemetic.

You have read very deeply between some lines that aren’t there. This is absolutely not what I took from her awful video - and her toddler intelligence of describing such an atrocious act as a “bad thing” suggests she doesn’t even understand what’s actually happening.

Also don’t know what this craze is of people filming themselves so close up that you can see every nose hair and tooth cavity. It makes them look deranged.

There you go. Two people can see the same thing and derive different messages from it.

It doesn't matter what you think she was trying to say. Why she actually did was use a sarcastic baby voice say 'they did very bad things' and sneer about the whole thing. Saying 'NO' repeatedly, bizarrely. She maybe needs to do a course in social skills.

Any message was lost in her face pulling, the baby voice and the minimising of the atrocities committed.

If she hasn't taken sides she should get rid of her palestinian flag in her bio. Bit of a giveaway 🙄.

Anyone talking about “taking sides” in this conflict, I immediately dismiss them as either being an extremist or a bit ignorant with no knowledge of the conflict prior to 7th of October.

Nope. I have quoted her directly to get her message. You have tried to defend her with what you think she actually meant.

Do you know what's the most chilling thing? This may one day be us on the receiving end, like the people of Gaza, and no one will help us. They'll just stand by and watch. If it can happen to one group of people, it can happen to anyone. We see this happen in countries in Africa as well, but one day it'll be the western countries whilst our impotent and hand wringing politicians stand by and do nothing.

She didn't mean it like that. She apologised and explained her reason for the video for those people who interpreted it in their own way.

I disagree, she’s another celebrity who feels smugly justified in dismissing the horrific event that was October 7th. She’s backtracking because she didn’t quite get the applause she feels she deserves.

October 7th was beyond belief and it seems to be almost justified by the likes of her and Lineker.

She hasn't got a bad bone in her body she meant well and explained why to those who took it the wrong way. What do you expect people to do when it's in the news don't read or listen to it. Pretend it doesn't exist. People have a right to feel upset. people were rightly outraged when the Oct 7th attack happened but things have changed since then it's got worse not better.

People who haven’t got a bad bone in their body know better than to minimise a terrible terrorist atrocity as “a bad thing” using a whining childish voice .

Her message was also the problem. Her message was that the atrocities of October 7th were trivial/ not worth attention.

Horrible woman. Her apology is not genuine imo. It’s just a self interested attempt at damage limitation career wise
