Anyone else appalled and shocked at Dawn French's social media video mocking the reaction to the terror attack in Israel on Oct 6th. What on earth was she thinking ? She comes across as horrible and lacking in any empathy. I feel sorry for the innocent people on both sides of this war, in Palestine and in Israel.

She is not mocking Jewish people, you really need to stop equating Israelis with Jews. It’s possible to criticise Israel without bringing in Jewish people into it.

There are actually videos of Israelis making videos of themselves drinking water and eating food to make fun of starving and thirsty Palestinians. I wonder how you reacted to that 🤔

She wasn't "criticising Israel". She was mocking the events of Oct 7th.

Honestly IDAF what any celebrity says or doesn’t say about world politics or news. Most of them are dim anyway.

She's not saying it's complicated or nuanced. She's sneering at people who believe it is. Like most experts on the subject. She thinks the solution exists in a 20 second video clip of her saying no.

So she has this thing where she states an observation or tells a story and then does a mutter mutter voice - it's part of a series that her fans and followers appreciate.

What she's done here is choose a situation that doesn't fit the delivery, which has moved it from her echo chamber to a wider stage - and all the consequences that follow.

I think it is inevitable that if public figures use social media a lot, at some point there will be a fallout. Wiser to stay away, really. Especially X, which is dangerous waters.

British people mocked Germans during WW2. It's something that has happened in pretty much every war. The point is that the Palestinians started this war when they attacked Israel on October 7th. What exactly did they think Israel was going to do?

What are you talking about. Israel is the historical home of the Jewish people, and their agreed homeland after the horrors of the Holocaust. Israel has the largest Jewish population in the world, and when people want free reign to express their antisemitism they condemn Israel, regardless.
