Home Alone 2 was so much better than Home Alone 1...

What's yours?

Pretty Woman is a terrible film.

It’s a fairytale.

the80sweregreat · 02/06/2025 09:57

Grease 1 is a terrible film promoting the view that you need to sow yourself into tight trousers in order to keep a man. I know that he changed his leather jacket for a cardigan , but that probably didn’t last once she sought out a change in clothes! I didn’t see any of this aged 14 though ( when it came out!)

Andoutcomethewolves · 03/06/2025 10:45

Two that really pissed me off were The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio and Captain Corelli's Mandolin with Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz. Mainly because I'd read the books and the films were NOT a real representation of them. Nicholas and Penelope are wayyy too old to play a 17 and 21 year old and Leonardo's character does not get the girl in the book!

The green mile was an absolute load of nonsense.

SarfLondonLad · 03/06/2025 10:52

Gangs of New York is unmitigated dross.

I like The Shawshank Redemption but it’s nothing special. I honestly don’t understand why it’s voted the greatest film of all time so often.

I agree. It's OK but nothing more.

NeedWineNow · 03/06/2025 11:03

Raging Bull was turgid crap, despite all the critics raving about it.

Love Star Wars.

Loathed (with a Capital L) Forrest Gump with every fibre of my being.

The green mile was an absolute load of nonsense.

The book was much better. I sobbed at the end.

It’s a fairytale.

Rich man buys poor woman’s sexual services and ‘girlfriend experience’for a week for $5k? Yeah, totally.

vincettenoir · 03/06/2025 12:35

Yeah Richard Gere’s character is a total dick in that film. He does climb a staircase when he has a fear of heights as a device to redeem him at the end. But it doesn’t work for me.

StarlightLady · 03/06/2025 16:18

Paddington is a true story.

Andoutcomethewolves · 03/06/2025 19:39

I've never been able to watch more than a few minutes of either Goodfellas or any Godfather movie, or anything else of that ilk. So, so boring.

I do however love True Romance which I suppose is kind of a gangster film.

I’m a sensible woman in her fifties who has had a professional career, raised kids, dogs etc etc and I bloody love a Statham film. The shitter the story/plot/acting the better IMO. Spent 2hrs last weekend watching ‘Working Man’ which was everything you’d expect from a film where Statham is the lead actor and is working from a script written by Stallone. Utter cack and I loved it even more than ‘The Beekeeper’ (also wonderfully dreadful). As long as it isn’t sci-fi but has Statham in it, I’m in.

*disclaimer: I’ve never got round to watching The Meg.

I'm also a fellow Statham fan. The Meg has an actual storyline with decent dialogue so overall an enjoyable watch

The Meg 2 is bloody ridiculous, so unbelievable and cheesy..it's AMAZING, highly recommend

The Greatest Showman was tosh

mindingmyown37 · 03/06/2025 22:39

Omg yes!!!! Brilliant film (especially the ending). Though DH reliably informs me that all the underwater welding is not only dangerous but impossible!

Planesmistakenforstars · 04/06/2025 07:41

Horror films are the only films worth watching. Everything else is better as a book.

She didn’t. He was well into her as she was. The clothing was her changing into being ready for him, not to attract him. He did more than wear a cardigan, he had already changed behaviour in various ways and stopped his womanising lifestyle.

Squirrel60 · 07/02/2026 09:29

I watched Jaws, which I found upsetting as I love sharks, even though it was a robot shark they used instead of a real one, but I didn't like the film at all.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/02/2026 09:44

Me before You is a terrible film
offensive

the80sweregreat · 07/02/2026 10:05

Jaws was very much of its time.
The first big 70s blockbuster!! The poster , the music!
I don’t like it, but it does have a few iconic lines.

Edenmum2 · 07/02/2026 10:34

Grease 2 is way better than Grease 1

whynotwhatknot · 08/02/2026 14:21

jurassic park is crap

readingmakesmehappy · 08/02/2026 14:23

Avatar 1 was so awful that no sequels were justified

labamba18 · 08/02/2026 20:39
