Home Alone 2 was so much better than Home Alone 1...

What's yours?

Can't stand Avatar. It's a terrible film that used a 'white saviour' narrative but with aliens.

Then they made Avatar 2! Why? 😩

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 02/06/2025 05:00

Films like Grease, Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing came out when I was a young 'un, and I watched them with innocence. Now I've rewatched them in my late 40s and I'm like WTF.

You know when you think you can share a "classic" with your teenager but soon realise how sexist, racist & homophobic the film is? Been there, done that.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 02/06/2025 05:04

I really like the remake of the Italian job. The opening sequence is exquisite.

Greenjack · 02/06/2025 05:07

The Joker is a terrible film: just a miseryfest. Doesn't tell you anything about the descent into madness. Joaquim Phoenix overacted horribly too.

I hated The Parasite too. Didn't find it entertaining. No nuance. Both films people being serially revolting to each other. Don't get why that's entertaining.

I’m a sensible woman in her fifties who has had a professional career, raised kids, dogs etc etc and I bloody love a Statham film. The shitter the story/plot/acting the better IMO. Spent 2hrs last weekend watching ‘Working Man’ which was everything you’d expect from a film where Statham is the lead actor and is working from a script written by Stallone. Utter cack and I loved it even more than ‘The Beekeeper’ (also wonderfully dreadful). As long as it isn’t sci-fi but has Statham in it, I’m in.

*disclaimer: I’ve never got round to watching The Meg.

Citizen Kane is boring and shouty.

Alien is ruined by Ripley letting the damn cat in - she never would have done that. What bollocks.

Aliens is unutterably cheesy bro shite.

About Time is offensive and misogynistic (see also most other Richard Curtis films).

Some Like It Hot isn’t funny.

The Judy Garland version of A Star Is Born is ruined by the weird stills that crop up halfway through.

The Sound Of Music should finish at the wedding.

Celia Johnson should have left her husband for Trevor Howard in Brief Encounter.

DD went to school with a chap whose mother had never allowed The Sound of Music to play on beyond the wedding. He had no idea about the rest of the film until they showed it in school…

BlueEyedBogWitch · 02/06/2025 05:15

Oh, and anything starring Daniel Day Lewis is guaranteed to bore the tits off me. There Will Be Blood? Yeah, there will, when I’ve chewed my fucking arm off in sheer boredom.

Mama Mia 2 is better than Mama Mia 1. Casting Cher & Andy Garcia made it for me.

can't stand Cher, always fast forward

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/06/2025 05:26

See I watched Sixth sense as a kid and found it terrifying, I was like 10, but now I’m like meh. I do think the concept is good though. I laugh at thinking how scared I was at Signs, when the green man walked past in the video footage… but again was like 11. Blair witch was also terrifying, I watched it last year again at aged 36 and was still scared. 😂

I saw Blair Witch in the cinema and walked out before the end in order to get last orders at the bar. I found it boring and I thought the script (or lack of it) was really bad.

I loved Hell House LLC though, so if it’s found footage you like check out Hell house LLC.

I can’t remember but were there many POC in it?

😂😂😂How old were you? I lived a sheltered life at that point was probably 12 when I seen it on video. But I had to turn the tv off because I was so freaked out.

Catinthereallysmallhat · 02/06/2025 06:13

A Serbian Film and Salo are great family movies 🤭

Sunnyday321 · 02/06/2025 06:17

Tom Cruise ( in any film ) can't act .

Who is this unpopular with, Robert De Niro? 😅

One of the rare cases where a sequel is right up there as an all time classic film, but everyone knows that The Godfather is numero uno, surely?

There's a widespread view amongst critics and film buffs that G2 is the rare case where the sequel is better than the original. I agreed, until I finally saw them both on the big screen a few years ago on their re- release. Very different films, and Godfather imo is far superior.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 02/06/2025 07:07

Hone alone 2 is ruined now after it was pointed out that the bird lady looks almost identical to Piers Morgan

Pollyanna87 · 01/06/2025 23:54

Ealing comedies are boring, and espouse selfish, individualistic attitudes!

Edited

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

But...
Christopher Nolan is an utterly talentless director who thinks terrible sound quality & ludicrous plots with no internal logic (plus his inability to edit his films down to a reasonable length) in some way equates to 'high art'
Tenet is the worst film ever made.
It's the emperor's clothes I tell you 🤣

PermanentTemporary · 02/06/2025 07:31

An Officer and a Gentleman should not exist and it ruined my life.

Turtlebed · 02/06/2025 07:54

Tremors is the greatest film of all time.

Elderflower14 · 02/06/2025 07:58

Bringing Up Baby was the first screwball comedy!
