Yes, it was a genuine and very serious addiction. It was all over the news at the time (you might be too young to remember). She smoked joint after joint of cannabis every day, was always pissed, stoned or high on something including when she was working and her nose collapsed through cocaine use. There are numerous newspaper articles about her battle with addiction if you google them.

Well that article posted says she still relies on addict ­support ­programmes to stay clean and ­sober. So fair to say she had quite a problem.

I thought the nose was Danniella Westbrook - another east enders actress - blond hair not Patsy Palmer with the red hair.

No-one here can really tell the OP how Patsy Palmer got her money - likely investments, inhertiance, luck with housing market or some sort of work - money from reshow of TV apperances - or perhaps she was exceptionally lucky and had someone looking after her money in some way when she was in midst of her drug addition.

How would PP know? I don't think many people who are drug addicted or even those who just party too hard for decades keep a spreadsheet of their expenditure.

You're right, it's famously impossible for anyone to have a drug or drink problem without spunking literally all their money and assets, however well paid they are. This is why the terms functioning alcoholic and functioning addict don't exist. Nobody ever does benders whilst also paying a mortgage and holding down a job, and there definitely aren't any highly renumerated job sectors where the level of coke usage has been a cliche for decades.

Her house is absolutely lovely, with gorgeous views, but doesn't look like a mansion from the pictures I've seen. I suspect PP is very well off rather than super rich. Sounds like she's worked hard in different roles/businesses over the years, had a bit of luck, been sensible with money and so is living well today. Good for her!

Well, I am definitely not too young to remember and as PP said, you have just described Daniella Westbrook, not Patsy Palmer. Her collapsed septum and ruined face made the front page of many a tabloid newspaper back in the day.

Yed that was Danielle Westbrook. She lived near us at the time and i had her drug dealer ringing our spare home line every might for a week and wouldnt believe Danielle didnt live here. I had to go to the police in the end and report the number.
