Is anyone else boycotting Eurovision?

Usually love watching Eurovision but will not watch it this year due to Israel being allowed to compete. I don’t understand how Israel are allowed to compete but not Russia (not that I’d agree with them competing either) so sadly, we won’t be watching it. Is anyone else boycotting it?

Jews make up 0.1% of the population of Europe. Even if every single one assigned their 20 votes to Israel's song, it would hardly have made much difference to the overall result. Even if every one voted five times over, it still would not have made much difference to the overall result.

Hamas did the initial oct. 7 attack, not the Palestinian government! Also the Israeli government has killed over 55,000 people, while hamas has killed 1706. While both are awful, Israel is defo the perpitrator of this situation. Educate yourself, its not hard.

Although I doubt that not watching eurovision will do anything to impact the war, don't televote for them atleast.

Hamas IS the Palestine government.

Educate yourself. It's not hard.

2007

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2025 18:22

Exactly. So how many of the children who were killed voted for them ? I’ll save you googling: NONE OF THEM

But their parents did... And their parents also chose not to give up the hostages locations.

So you think the children deserve to die? Is that what you’re saying?

And you seem not to have bothered reading mine, Prunesquallor.

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2025 18:19

@StupidBoywhen did they come to power?

Since 2006. But you can ask me questions all day long that I can google the answer to if I don't know it, and then you will question the answer, because as with all things in the ME it's not straightforward and there's more than one answer depending on who you choose to believe and how you choose to interpret something. But let's not pretend that Hamas is purely a rogue terrorist organisation with no support among many Palestinians themselves. And let's not pretend they don't run the place.

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2025 18:25

No that's not what I'm saying. But it's a war. Their parents chose to vote in Hamas, knowing their purpose is to destroy Israel and kill all Jews. No country could allow it's neighbours to try to wipe it out without fighting back. Hamas use human shields. Until the Palestinians rise up against Hamas and the rest of the world joins them in their fight, war will unfortunately have to continue with deaths on both sides.

Dilbertian · 18/05/2025 18:30

How convenient for you that my post has been deleted. Your claim that I was gloating cannot now be substantiated.

Hamiltonfan · 18/05/2025 18:30

The world needs to wake up and see through the Hamas propaganda. Support the Palestinians in overthrowing Hamas and get some stability in the region. But much simpler to blame the Jews.

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2025 18:40

Approximately 75 percent of current Palestinians would not have been eligible to vote in an election when Hamas came to power by virtue of being too young. Nearly 50 percent of them hadn’t even been born at the time.

Then I guess they have their parents and grandparents to blame.

Omg 🤦🏻‍♀️ this is so lame. Real or not real, it's not even from this year, and now other people are posting it in other threads! We're meant to be adults, this is the sort of stuff that moronic tweens forward on their little WhatsApp groups!

Yes, you have to take a moral stance at some point. Are we to say that Hitler was a great landscape artist and display his works in all art galleries and say a person’s works should be removed from their actions? Should we start using Gill Sans again and suggest it was an amazing font despite Eric raping his daughters and his dog?

I am not imposing my values on anyone but feel that one has to make a judgement at some point and stand for your beliefs and basic humanity. It is a song contest and by boycotting, people will not die but it sends a message to people who feel that that can culture wash genocide.

So you believe in collective punishment and targeting of civilians? As the Israelis have shown in their targeting of Hamas individual leadership using pagers or their targeting of Iranian leaders, they have a very sophisticated surveillance and information gathering network to precisely target their enemies. The targeting of civilians was a deliberate act.

Badbadbunny · 05/03/2026 14:31

Not watched it for decades but that's because it's crap. I'm certainly not going to pretend to boycott it due to Israel as some kind of demented virtue signalling.
