Truly leak proof travel mug that keeps coffee HOT?!

That ideally doesn't cost £30?! Does it exist?

Fed up of spending five quid on coffee when I'm out and about. Maybe a £30 one will be worth it...

Want something that I can chuck in my handbag for work or when I'm just out and about for the day.

Had one. It was dreadful. Went in the bin.

If anyone is after a collapsible coffee mug to keep in a handbag or rucksack, none are perfect but my recommendation is for the Trespass Coffee Pop one.

Currently out of stock and not on amazon 😭

Stojo are most definitely not leak
proof and don’t retain heat
Stojo usp is its small collapsible size and portability

Monstermunchy · 16/04/2025 19:52

Another vote for Yeti - they come in nice colours and don’t scratch - dh has one.

I have a Camelbak one that has been fantastic for years (but can’t find it online anymore) - the colour has scratched off the outside so it doesn’t look as nice as the Yeti
But both keep drinks piping hot and don’t leak

My DH got it for me because the cheap collapsible cups are awful and this one had a screw lid. I wasn't worried about heat because I take it on the train and drink it there not throughout the day. The collapsible cup fits in my handbag.

Contigo, vote 978 😀

SisterAgatha · 16/04/2025 20:07

Agree with contigo. I made my coffee at 8am before I went to work and then forgot to take it. When I got home at 5pm it wasn’t cold. Ok not HOT but still slightly warm.

Contigo
Had mine 10 years or so
Never leaks

I millionth the contigo. If anything it keeps my tea too hot!

melisma · 16/04/2025 20:43

Coming on to add to the chorus of Contigo!

nomas · 16/04/2025 21:43

There were a load of Contigos reduced to £3 each in Tesco, I bought a few for wider family, who all like them.

Another No for Contingo (it was a gift) I hate the small drinking hole and didn't keep the drink hot hot for long.
Decided to test it again last night and made a drink before I went to bed and when I drank it later it was only warm (5 hours).
Have gone back to my slimline Thermos flask when I need to take a drink with me. Think I might buy the Ninja Sip as I have been satisfied with all of their products I have bought.

Civilservant · 17/04/2025 12:34

Contigo is no good for tea, it rusts fast. Assume those recommending it are fellow coffee drinkers!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 17/04/2025 12:38

I am sitting looking sadly at my Contigo, on the desk. It does keep my coffee hot for ages, and is leak proof too. But Skoda made their cup holders stupidly small, so, as I said, the Contigo doesn't fit. I can only use cups that are less than 6.5cm diameter at the base. I suspect they did it to fit in an extra cup holder - it has three - but what use is it if you can't put anything in the bloody cup holder??

Madcats · 17/04/2025 15:08

Contigo has had multiple iterations of the metal flask (we have 3 different types). The ones we bought about 10 years ago taper to a 6.5cm base.

Try looking for a car cup adaptor online.

I have a leak proof travel flask from Tesco - I think it was about £7. Keeps coffee boiling hot for hours.

This style.

Yes, these Smash ones. I got mine for £8. Had it open on my desk, went to a meeting, 6 hours late coffee was still warm. It comes apart to clean and I ca literally chuck it in a bag and it will not leak.

Thank you, @Madcats - I will look for those.

Fancytallglass · 17/04/2025 20:54

The mug arrived.

I tested it by filling with water and leaving it upside down on some kitchen roll for an hour. No leak. Tried it on its side - no leak.

Filled it with just boiled water this morning for about half an hour before filling it with a hot coffee. Coffee was a hot latte (as opposed to an instant mainly made with water).

I drank it about an hour later. It wasn't as hot as I would've liked to be honest. I'll try getting the coffee hotter next time before putting it in....

Coffee being hot is important so a bit disappointed.

Yeti

VikingLady · 17/04/2025 21:13

I bought a double walled metal water bottle and use that. Screw cap. It’s far better at retaining the heat than any cup I’ve had, and it’s going strong after several years.

I got one of these from T K Max - JosephJoseph brand. 500mls with a loop handle. £20. I use it for cold water but going to test with a hot drink now.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/04/2025 23:08

@irridium and @TheHumanFund - thank you for the zojirushi recommendation- I bought one and tried it out today, and not only does it keep the coffee hot for ages, but it also fits the stupidly small cup holder in the Skoda!!

irridium · 20/04/2025 00:13

So glad you finally chosen my brand! It is THE BEST imo, although it's now super expensive since the pandemic, but I dithered for two whole years watching YouTube videos about them before I made the decision 8 years ago. I have 2 others (one for coffee/tea) and the other is a spare for just water. I love that it's slim enough to fit inside my handbag if I'm out and about.

I, also have the food bento container as well, but it's plastic and it doesn't keep the food that hot, annoyingly.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/04/2025 12:05

Contigo are ok until the seal leaks. It’s happened to all of mine.

Same here. It doesn’t fit in my I10’s cup holder so has to go in the door pocket. I also find it keeps the coffee too hot!
