Truly leak proof travel mug that keeps coffee HOT?!

That ideally doesn't cost £30?! Does it exist?

Fed up of spending five quid on coffee when I'm out and about. Maybe a £30 one will be worth it...

Want something that I can chuck in my handbag for work or when I'm just out and about for the day.

Another vote for the Contigo Byron here too.
Bought as a gift for DH. I spent ages deliberating between this and another that was half the price - I hadn't done the research and was wondering if the price difference was worth it - and ended up deciding to splurge. DH let it collect dust for nearly a year and continued to buy coffee in a disposable cup, so I claimed it as my own. I use mine for cold drinks and find it keeps them at fridge temperature for hours. I often have fizzy drinks in it; no issues with leaking and it keeps the fizz in really well, although does make quite a pop when you open the seal if left for a gew hours. DH doesn't know what he's missing!

I have a yeti flask. The rambler, which Google tells me is £30 (was a gift). Honestly, it’s brilliant. I’ve taken hot water somewhere to make tea and forgotten about it for 24 hours and it’s still hot when I empty it out. Well made and very worth the money. I almost always take my own coffee and tea places and I must have easily saved hundreds over the years.

irridium · 14/04/2025 22:39

This is mine from the Japanese brand Zojirushi. Preheat the flask with hot water from the kettle and it'll still be hot 6 hours later. Same with cold water, especially when there's a heatwave; put ice cubes in the flask and cold water. Still freezing cold 6 hours later. I've been using them for the past 10 years. It's expensive but worth the investment. I've been harping to all and sundry to everyone as I do believe it's a godsend -

Contigo are brilliant, totally handbag proof and stays hot for several hours.

Sometimes on offer in Tesco especially when they reduce the less popular colours.

Fancytallglass · 14/04/2025 22:55

Thank you everyone. I have ordered the Contigo Byron and bought the cheapest colour - matt black. £12.50 on Amazon.

Joseph Joseph. £9.99. only cup I've had that hasn't leaked.

Constance1 · 14/04/2025 23:25

My dad bought me the Contigo Byron when I had my first baby who is now 8. The contigo has had near daily use since then and is still going strong. If it ever breaks or I lose it, I will buy the same brand and model again.

My DH has this one, and you are right, it never leaks but it also doesn’t keep drinks hot for very long.

Contigo, DH says it makes drinks hotter.
We've both had westloops for years DH eventually lost his, borrowed mine and dropped it in front of heavy machinery.... So he bought us both contigo luxe auto seals in stainless steel so they can go in the dishwasher, they are brilliant and fit in car cup holders

Zone2NorthLondon · 15/04/2025 00:10

CONTIGO it lives in my bag, rolls about, and never leaks

I disagree with the Contigo things I don’t like - you have to drink out of a specific place.

best one I have had is Brew Flask
Ocean Blue (350ml) keeps drinks boiling hot and you can drink out of it anywhere round the lid

Yes, I have this one and take hot coffee to work now to drink through the day! Someone on here recommended it so thanks @Thunderpants88 if it was you! Worth the money.

Zone2NorthLondon · 15/04/2025 00:40

Contigou autoseal
never leaks

Another vote for the Thermos. Never leaks, can start my drink on my way to work and it’s still warm on the way home. DH and I have heavily used one each for five years now and they’re still going strong.

Funnywonder · 15/04/2025 01:01

Contigo Byron for me too. But I also have a Smash cup which is very good and which I like because it is smaller and easier to open. It has never leaked and does a decent job of keeping my tea/coffee hot. DS1 has a Smash for school. He takes black coffee and asks me to top it up with cold water because it’s still too hot at break time.

CrispieCake · 15/04/2025 01:15

Another vote for Contigo Byron. It's not my favourite coffee cup (I have another more elegant one that I make my early morning coffee in and keeps it warm for a few hours if I doze off). But it's the one I chuck in my rucksack if I'm taking the kids on a long train trip or standing out in the cold watching DC's sports in winter.

I have this and the coffee is too hot for the first few hours. But it is completely leakproof as I can attest.

Karasis · 15/04/2025 07:21

I have a Zojirushi one and love it.

itsgettingweird · 15/04/2025 07:26

I came in to say contigo too!

Got mine in Tesco when it was on sale for £9. Use it every day as take ds swim training and it keeps coffee hot (too hot at times!)

Considering I use it daily and drop it a lot the last one lasted me a year and this current one so far has lasted the same.

dumpling123 · 15/04/2025 07:29

I have a contigo Byron and a Stanley aerolite. Both are brilliant
