Truly leak proof travel mug that keeps coffee HOT?!

That ideally doesn't cost £30?! Does it exist?

Fed up of spending five quid on coffee when I'm out and about. Maybe a £30 one will be worth it...

Want something that I can chuck in my handbag for work or when I'm just out and about for the day.

Wow a lot of love for the Contigo! Thank you. Seems the West Loop one is popular?

That's because not only does it not leak, but you actually lock it shut. x

Shinyandnew1 · 15/04/2025 21:02

Another vote for Contigo!

Useruseruser01 · 15/04/2025 21:07

I bought the lockable contigo mug after a travel cup I had fell over in my car whilst I was driving and leaked and it took me an age to clean it all up.
I can chuck my full contigo in my bag lying down and not a single drop leaks out. And yes, mine are at least 10 years old and show very little sign of wear. They go in the dishwasher and everything. One of my best ever purchases - 2 for £35 at costco!

I would also recommend the contingo but the Sho Calix is also very good. It looks like it has redesigned the lid since I bought it. Mine had a stainless steel lid that made it impossible to drink from

Edited

The Calix isn't leak proof. Weirdly Sho don't have a leak proof travel mug in their range. (Their Guzzler water bottle is brilliant though!)

My Contigo West Loop lasted years but eventually my drinks started to have a weird metallic taste to them. I replaced it with a Super Sparrow travel mug. It is excellent. Leak proof and keeps drinks piping hot. It's also easier to clean than the Contigo.

Zone2NorthLondon · 15/04/2025 21:39

I have had multiple brands.contigo auto lock was only one that didn't leak
Other brands say Leak resistant, leak proof which isn’t same as doesn’t leak
Sho calix leaked

My husband uses Yeti too and recommends it.

My partner has a yeti and his coffee is still nuclear hot hours later!

That's handy to know. I was using it at work so filled it up there. I will carry on with the contigo for a leak proof one.

Contigo west loop isn’t nice to drink from: tiny sipping hole!

It also tarnishes and rusts inside if used for tea.

AnneShirley18 · 15/04/2025 21:55

Contigo

Lookuptotheskies · 15/04/2025 22:26

I'm another one voting for contigo. I have two of the Byron ones.

I've dropped them onto concrete before and they've come away with a tiny dent and no hot tea spilt!

Think I got one from Amazon and one from Tesco, both were under £20 each.

HidingFromDD · 15/04/2025 22:29

Yeti because it keeps drinks scalding hot for hours and I prefer the ‘feel’ when drinking from it

SparklingBettie · 15/04/2025 22:37

Contigo is the best leak proof and easy to drink with one hand. I have the one pictured at the start of the thread and use it 5 days a week.

However, if it’s a hot drink I want after 4 hours of making the coffee then it’s a thermos with a flip lid. If I don’t let it cool before closing the lid then I often can’t drink it as it’s too hot even at the end of the day. Thermos can also be used one handed and holds 2 coffees.

ODFOx · 15/04/2025 22:51

Contiguo
i don’t know what they cost now and they may be £30 for all I know, but you’ll get daily use for about 10 years out of it so it is bargainous on a per use basis.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/04/2025 22:53

I have a Contigo mug that keeps coffee warm for hours. Sadly it doesn’t fit in the car’s cup holder, so I’ve got a 720 degree on instead, which seems OK, but not as good as the Contigo.

Anjo2011 · 15/04/2025 22:54

Contigo, £12.99 tkmaxx. Not sure what model, it’s the first one of this brand I’ve purchased. It’s excellent.

comedycentral · 15/04/2025 22:54

I have two contigos- a small and a large one, they are the best brand ever for being leak proof and keeping the drink hot!

Agreed

TheHumanFund · 15/04/2025 23:12

Zojirushi as mentioned earlier. Far superior to Contigo and worth every penny.
I've had Contigos in the past but they ended up in a charity shop after getting my Zojirushis.

Wtafdidido · 15/04/2025 23:36

I love love love my contigo travel mugs

redteapot · 16/04/2025 07:57

I have a Le Creuset one which is fab as well - completely leak proof and also keeps drinks too hot to drink 🤣

Melancholyflower · 14/04/2025 19:41

Circular Cup Leakproof and you can drink from anywhere around the rim, rather from a spout.

We have always had Contigo they are great but some are annoying to drink from and I wouldn’t feel happy chucking some of the older ones into my bag.
DD was given this one for Christmas and we love it.
Agree with others about the drinks staying too hot to drink!

I wish I'd seen this before I bought my 720 Degree mug, @TheHumanFund - I've just looked at the zojirushi mug, and it would fit in my car's ridiculously small cup holders. But I think I'm stuck with the 720 one, until it fails - then I will try to remember this thread and your recommendation.

DH bought me a Stojo collapsible cup for coffee. They claimed it doesn't leak, but it did first time!

I'm getting a replacement but does anyone have experience with Stojo?

TokyoKyoto · 16/04/2025 13:14

Kinto. But it's not cheap. Had one for two years and it has never leaked, and really keeps tea warm all day.

Had one. It was dreadful. Went in the bin.

If anyone is after a collapsible coffee mug to keep in a handbag or rucksack, none are perfect but my recommendation is for the Trespass Coffee Pop one.
