Truly leak proof travel mug that keeps coffee HOT?!

That ideally doesn't cost £30?! Does it exist?

Fed up of spending five quid on coffee when I'm out and about. Maybe a £30 one will be worth it...

Want something that I can chuck in my handbag for work or when I'm just out and about for the day.

I have a contigo and don't find it keeps my coffee very hot at all. Even 3-4 hours after filling I find it's cooled down too much. I also preheat it with boiling water before putting my very hot coffee in. Am I doing something wrong?

I use the luxe which does allow the drink to cool. Just means it’s ready for when I need it. I also had a Byron which did keep it ridiculously hot. Sometimes on long days I’ll use both. Drink the luxe first and save the Byron for later.

For those still looking, our local TK Maxx often sells Contigos.

If weird is still watching this thread, I also recommend filling them with ice and a cool drink (leave a bit of space if fizzy). It feels delightfully sinful to be sipping a chilly San Pellegrino at an Open Meet.

(TK Maxx is prob a 10 min walk from Ponds Forge!).

I managed to break my autoseal lid, so am currently roadtesting a Bru cup (you can drink all round).

Agree completely, NOT Contigo!!! Maybe West Loop is better than the one I have (bought in the pandemic) but I can feel it gets warm where the cup meets the lid so it definitely loses heat unnecessarily IYSWIM. That said I do like the auto seal thing.

It’s expensive but I have a Yeti and it is way, way superior at keeping the drink hot. And unlike my Contigo you can dishwash all parts of it.

I can only assume the Contigo gang have never tried Yeti!!

I have the Nespresso metal cup and that works very well - coffee stays hot a couple of hours and still quite drinkably warm 5/6 hours later. I make a cup of tea going to bed on Cub camp for when I get back to bed in the middle of the night after the homesick/sick child has been dealt with, to help me drift off quickly again. And bring it on
loads of long trips.

I'm not sure why I would need to?
My West Loop is many years old, keeps my drinks hot and never leaks?

I felt the same as you until I was given a Yeti. 🤷‍♀️

noideawhichname · 15/04/2025 08:04

Contigo West Loop. mine is about 6 years old, goes in the dishwasher regularly .
keeps things hot and cold. i bought an iced coffee yesterday morning around 10, forgot the leftover ice cubes in the cup. This morning, there were still ice cubes.

What exactly will the Yeti do to improve on-
It keeps my drinks super hot and never leaks? 😂

justasking111 · 15/04/2025 08:25

Off topic but I need one that fits in a mini cooper, anyone?

insomniacalways · 15/04/2025 08:56

Contigo - best mugs

As above, the Yeti keeps drinks much hotter for much longer, which was a key criterion for OP.

You seem to be taking this very personally! 😂

My husband uses Yeti, he is on the road a lot and his tea will still be warm in the afternoon when he's made it at 6am in the morning. Lots of different designs and colour options.

My husband uses Yeti too and recommends it.

TabbyM · 15/04/2025 10:54

Circular & Go - recycled material and can buy replacement lids if required. Discounts online if you have a Blue Light Card.

Don't buy the Smash Coffee flask as it is a handy size but gets cold in a couple of hours, or the V&A flasks which look lovely but dribble from the opening bit and the lids break if you drop them.

Have you seen these gadgets?

If you expand the Dimensions details “+”, you can see the sizes of the Bru travel mugs:

I was laughing -not taking it personally at all because if its hot and doesn't leak that's the point of the Op !

Missey85 · 15/04/2025 12:27

I love my frank green cup 😊 no leaks and hot coffee for hours ❤️

MollyButton · 15/04/2025 12:34

Contour - mines battered but great. If anything keeps it too hot - 1hr commute into work and still can only gently sip as too hot.

alsohappenedoverhere · 15/04/2025 15:55

I’ve got a Stanley. Not the stupid one with a straw but a smaller coffee sized one. It’s ace. Coffee yesterday from 8am was still hot at 3pm.

MummaMummaMumma · 15/04/2025 16:48

Contigo Byron. I've tried loads!

TheWelshposter · 15/04/2025 16:56

I go between a Contigo Loop and a Contigo Snapseal (both from Amazon) and I swear by them. Once closed they do not leak even when rolling around in my bag.

I make coffee at 8am and it's still warm enough to drink at lunchtime. If I make an iced coffee at 8am there are often still ice cubes in it at 4pm.

Fancytallglass · 15/04/2025 18:45

Sadly delivery has been delayed until Thursday.

I will get back after conducting Which? style testing.

Ninja Perfect Sip - they are expensive and are heavier than normal travel mugs but it cools the drink to a 'perfect sip' temperature and then keeps it at that temperature.

Madcats · 15/04/2025 20:43

After the excitement of discovering that Ninja baking trays and frying pans are non-stick, I bought DD one of their Perfect Sips (she seems to like it, but she only recently got into drinking hot drinks).

We have minimal travel plans for Easter so I could be persuaded to do a Contigo vs Bru vs Ninja heat retaining test (have a digital thermometer).

MinkyWales · 15/04/2025 20:46

Thermos Thermo King. Had mine for years; they are bomb-proof.
