I was allowed to do the horoscopes on the local paper during my school work experience, just adding seasoned journalist to the resume here. Popped in to B&Q today and assembled my own paint roller, I'm practically a tool maker.

@ChardonnaysBeastlyCat i would wager your cat has more

You might be right, and I don’t even have a cat.
😀

Parsley1234 · 06/04/2025 18:44

@SpringerSprockerCocker well you seem to get the gist of them incoherent or not so that’s good enough for me
He said he was a solicitor like Rachel from accounts said she was an economist 🤣🤣🤣

Not great I agree but that doesn't mean he is a rubbish minister. I would love to know what all the judgy types on here have as credentials to evaluate whether ministers are any good or not.

At least you could trust a cat not to buy its colleagues reciprocal handbags and put them through expenses.

Does paying ever increasing bills count?

Parsley1234 · 06/04/2025 18:51

I'm disillusioned completely by Labour but I'm more terrified they are handing us over to the true incompetence of Reform.

Yes Reform is quite spine chilling, I agree.

Yes, they still are.

He was a trainee solicitor I believe. As a PP said, what had Johnson and Cameron done pre politics? Sunak wasn't very senior at all in the investment banking sector. He was only an analyst at Goldmans for three years. Everyone who is anyone is a director in investment banking.

Why didn’t he complete his training contract? He was at a top law firm. Very suspect. I have been a solicitor for 20 years in various different firms and I don’t know one traineee who hasn’t completed their training contract once they have started it. Occasionally people will decide not to practice on qualification but they don’t drop out before qualification.

partyoffivvve · 06/04/2025 18:55

Trainee solicitors get struck off for holding themselves out as qualified. It is drummed in - he would have been well aware of what he did - it’s not a simple mistake.

Haven't a clue and I don't really care. I'm more concerned about what he has to offer in his current role.

The background of an MP is very important to me. It should be to others. I had very detailed background checks for my current role because the clients that my employer provides services to insist on it.

Die hard Labour supporters? Mostly I see increasing frustration with the government right now. They are squandering their massive mandate and their comms is so utterly lamentable. They need a massive rethink and to find their backbone.

I think Reform will take votes from the Tories in the local elections. Badenoch is creating very little momentum. I am not sure Labour will gain any councils, but I bet the Tories lose overall control of some.

Thank you for your honest input. This is what I hear all the time, even from those traditionally aligned with Labour. We are ALL being shat on from a great height. With each awful decision, Reform gain more support.
I also agree that the tories are still crap and are likely to get their arse handed to them again in May.

I am a business owner. Things have never been worse than they are now. There's my credentials and I will judge the government of the day accordingly.

Sorry have I gatecrashed a WI group? It seems a lot of Daily Mail politics and discussing bedding plants. Whatever floats your boat, I suppose. Maybe some age appropriate real life hobbies instead?

Fastest rate of job shedding in the industry for 4.5yrs - so when covid was hitting the fan, presumably? That is worse than I had imagined.

Yes. I've been saying on here since January that things were slow. We're struggling for contracts, hence dh having to work away at the moment as there aren't enough new contracts to go around in our area. Every day I get phone calls from men asking for work, but we've also had to reduce headcount.

And what would the previous Govt of 14 years be doing that would be so much better? Would the potholes be fixed, the rivers cleaner? Heathrow electrics the envy of the world? World circumstances change and the Govt of the day has to adapt. The Tories get to sit on the sidelines ATM but they would still be facing the same issues.

Oh look that old chestnut again. It’s getting boring now 😴
