Wrong again, Love. Just hate the Tories and their lemming followers. Hate Reform even more.

Who’s left to love, love?

Who is the one worthy of your love and ballot tick?

We’re running out of options and the bog gets deeper by the hour.

This is how Trump won.

None of them right now. It's so awful. I've never voted Lib Dem in a general election but I wish to fuck they would get their act together as the prospect of Reform is totally terrifying.

That’s great but ‘love’ part not required.

Also have you seen the Starmer / Labour threads? They might be more what you’re after

Even if they did get their act together, which we all know they won’t, they will remain a niche choice.

Let us not forget Gove and his lies/antics. V.few can rise to the top on politics without some sticking to them.

Was? He will be until he dies and probably has something in his will to perpetuate those qualities

I had no love for the tories and scared of reform. Never been political but labour makes me feel anxious, sick to my stomach. I’m from a background of poverty, worked my way up. Saved everything I could. Paid gaps in parents NI. Now means they are not eligible for pensions credit and the associated benefits including winter fuel allowance. Have one child and pay for private school. In turn small house, few hols, cheap second hand car. Now demonised for this and hit by VAT. Recent court case shows it was all lies. No benefit for state. Smoke & mirrors for ideology. Business hit by employer NI etc. Feel as if being punished for trying to make a better life for myself and family. I know I’m lucky, so many have it so much worse. It’s not a comparison. Just why bother to try when this is the result.

Parsley1234 · 06/04/2025 21:46

@Missrosie123 I hear you 😢❤️

LyndzB · 06/04/2025 22:08

I’m a small business owner who has been hammered by labour. But…I would not mind if they were actually doing some good. But no. Winter fuel allowance and reducing benefits for disabled people. Is anyone doing better under Labour?

For what it’s worth I’m no fan of tories either - politically homeless.

And what would the previous Govt of 14 years be doing that would be so much better? Would the potholes be fixed, the rivers cleaner? Heathrow electrics the envy of the world? World circumstances change and the Govt of the day has to adapt. The Tories get to sit on the sidelines ATM but they would still be facing the same issues.

Wow! 6 replies in before ‘14 years’🤣 record breaking!

Checking in for a moan.
I didn't vote for labour but a part of me was hopeful that they would bring fresh eyes to problems and maybe they have, but in terms of where they have spread money and robbed money is an absolute disaster.
Giving ed millband billions whilst education is still under funded and on it's knees, attacking people with sen, pip etc and taxing work not profit.

It's an absolute disaster

I feel the same as this. I don’t vote for Labour but I was optimistic and hopeful that it was going to be better. My local
Labour MP
is an absolute car crash disaster and I everyone I know (bar 2 avid supporters) are now very down on Labour. I don’t think they will do another term.

So means testing WFA wasn’t a good thing ?
Expecting wealthy farmers to pay their share ?
New workers rights bill ?
Rail nationalisation ?
Breakfast clubs for school kids?
Renters reform bill ?
Biggest load of legislation in years about tax avoidance ?
I don’t necessarily agree with the changes to the benefits system and their communication is abysmal but they aren’t as bad as the last lot..

They’re not as bad as the last lot (although I’m not employing 5 people this year as planned like thousands of other businesses because of NI hikes).

The majority of older people are cut from winter fuel allowance. 12 to 2 million. You have to earn pittance to get it but even those who are poor still won’t receive it. They would’ve criticised tories for the same policy:

And ‘not as bad as the last lot’ is hardly something to gloat about.

@Bigham all of those ideas that labour are implementing have big repercussions

WFA nowhere in manifesto why not ?

Farmers tax - interference with our food security

Workers rights = lowest recruitment in years

Rail nationalisation no idea

Breakfast clubs the schools can’t afford to run them on 60p allocation and it’s dressing up pushing parents into work nothing to do with kids food

Renters reform largest amount of homeless ever apart from asylum seekers £8million a day

A total shit show

Not gloating, what a weird comment.
Majority of all pensioners haven’t lost it and those that have wouldn’t miss £300 a year.
What are your feelings about the improvements to workers rights or renters reforms or tightening up Tax avoidance ? The latter is very wide reaching but not publicised at all.

Our circumstances are different but I really feel that sense of being punished for trying hard. Working class background, made a decent life and then became disabled (multiple sclerosis). I claim PIP but work my backside off. We will likely lose my PIP at review unless I quit my job (because they won't believe I can have 4 points and work, even though I come home and my husband brings me dinner in bed). I'm not eligible for any other benefits because of my husband's salary.

I knew the Tories were self-serving and disgusting but finding Labour are the same hurts more somehow. I still remember the New Labour sense of optimism but this lot just feels like it's a race to the bottom.

What did the tories do in 14 years ?
What will reform do better ? Do you think reform will reinstate benefits ? You’re that naive ?

Jabtastic · 06/04/2025 22:30

Also I'm terrified of the lack of social care / accessible housing as I become more disabled and our local hospital is like a war zone all year round now not just winter.

Where did anyone mention the Reform party?

Bigham · 06/04/2025 22:31

I just find it odd that the Tories had repeated chances to sort things out and failed.
Labour have less than a year and everyone is disappointed.

TheNuthatch · 06/04/2025 22:31

Clamping down on tax avoidance is a classic for every struggling Chancellor. It never actually produces much money.
Workers rights bill combined with raising NI and NMW has made it both more expensive and more risky to employ people. It's batshit and is causing job losses.
Do you think a pensioner surviving on just over £200 per week can easily afford to lose WFA? Again, batshit.
