Hope you get a decent night sleep @Mumtobabyhavoc . And feel better tomorrow. I agree with you about baby snuggles. ❤

Agree about overpriced places also. Our village high street like so many others is slowing grinding to a halt. Business rates are obscene and then shop-owners have to pay rent on top of it- it's reflected in the price... and then people are priced out for a nice little shopping treat that certainly in my case I would not have thought twice about before. £40 for 1 coffee, a coke, a water and two ham salad sandwiches is crazy IMO.

Today I am going to focus on the downstairs. I hope to have another tip load by next Wednesday and then that will hopefully make things look a little better. I also need to go through my charity shop bags because there are things I can probably sell. For example a wetsuit that was worn once before being outgrown. I've not had a great experience selling online but willing to dip my toes into the fray again.

Hope everyone has a lovely day / night.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 02/08/2025 06:13

Oh sorry- did not answer your query about the leak. The house is Victorian and has not had a new roof certainly in 40 years which is when DH bought it. He's been muttering that we need to get the roof done for 10 years or more. But we simply don't have the spare cash. He's very handy so has been patch fixing it himself with shingles and bitumen roof sealant. The in ingress is basically around the chimneys so he can patch it up again but truth is we will have to bite the bullet and get it done properly next year.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 02/08/2025 06:16

'dip my toes into the fray' now THERE is a mixed metaphor!! [facepalm] Grin

Mumtobabyhavoc · 02/08/2025 07:17

Jeezus Lobelia, £40 is outrageous! That's $73CAN.
I'd guess here you'd pay $12-$15 for a sandwich, $5-$6 for a coffee and $4-$5 for a water or pop. Maybe a bit more, even then cheaper here and I find it expensive. I last bought a latte at S'bucks 3 years ago and I almost choked that the cost was the same as a 4l of milk, so about $6. It's a mum way of thinking, but 4l of milk is a week of milk for Havoc. It's just not worth it to me and they never taste as good as the ones I make now that I have the technique. So, it's not even a treat for me to get a coffee out. Even a tea can be $5 or so. 🙄 (I'm bitching, but amirite?) 😁

Ok. I might have to start selling coffee. 💡💁‍♀️

I completely lost steam around 10pm as my sinuses closed up, so I used some Dristan spray, took myself to bed and am now breathing perfectly and scrolling. 😂

btw, you have my sympathy re new roof. 😭

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 03/08/2025 06:02

You are completely right @Mumtobabyhavoc !

Hope you are feeling much better now.

WinterFrogs · 03/08/2025 18:05

Hello! I have just returned from lunch out and a long walk on the downs. It's lovely being cooler!
Early start tomorrow so really must get prepared or I'll be scrabbling about in the morning. Bed by nine I think, so that gives me half an hour to sit in a weary heap then a couple of hours to get my act together.
I hope you've all had a nice weekend 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 03/08/2025 19:11

Sounds like a great day, Winter! ☺️

Flat tire discovered after I loaded Havoc into the car to go to Costco before closing. Roadside assistance called and arrived w/in 40 mins. Too last for Costco so made due and popped out this morning. Will have to shop around for tires as Costco doesn't carry the size I need for my old car now. That will be Tuesday's job.
Sill poorly here, but pushing onward. It's a holiday weekend here and I have to get the kids out. They're going crazy having been inside all week and have missed all activities as well. I'm thinking a good walk and playground if I can manage it.

WinterFrogs · 03/08/2025 19:25

How frustrating about the tyre ( gone all English at you, sorry!) I hope you're feeling better and have a lovely time out with the children 💐

Happy Sunday night. 🥱
I did a blitz while the dc napped 3 hours this afternoon:
put new car seat in car for baby
tidied box with wrapping paper and added extra car seat items
threw away bday decos from Havoc's 1st
tidied front of storage room
threw away various cardboard and kitchen garbage
vacuumed
tried new clothes on dc: 3x jeans for Havoc, snow suit and snow suit for baby

Gave more thought to dc's clothing/toys for donation which I really want to do on Tuesday as can drop off on way to tyre store. 🐸
Would love to give baby's bucket car seat away. Can't be warranted as it was second-hand to me from friend's SiL and charities only take brand new and unused (for obv reasons).

Morning all. And evening to @Mumtobabyhavoc.

Don’t know where the time is going. Have been reading thread but not getting around to posting. Hope you are feeling better @Mumtobabyhavoc.

I am about to go out for a walk - am on a bit of a mission to lose a bit more weight and get fitter. Had a long lunch out at our neighbours yesterday so am a bit slow this morning. House needs a good clean and sort out this week as have family coming to stay next Monday. So I need a list and a plan.

Today’s list:

  • load dishwasher - done
  • put a wash in - done
  • walk
  • do list of jobs to get done by Monday
  • clear off dining table and clean and dust
  • clean display units in dining area
  • de-cobweb dining/living areas
  • vacuum
  • wash floors maybe
  • sort something for DS’s birthday tomorrow
Have a good day all.
WinterFrogs · 04/08/2025 13:17

👋 all.
I am on a roll so just a quick MN while i eat lunch.
Next up is a trip to the post office. I have been fielding phone calls all morning.

I am cold!! Brisk wind here and all windows were open. Just put my fleece dressing gown on and basking in the warmth of it. It's lovely!
Washing is on, including what I was wearing, hence dressing gown.
Remade bed. Need to prepare a dinner batch.
I can really feel my legs after hill walking yesterday!
Working off dining room table so must move it all upstairs so we can eat with some class this evening.
And organise my life! Too much happening at once....

That sounds so cosy @WinterFrogs

I'm tired today so have had a shower and am in pjs already. Watching netflix then aim to be in bed by 9.

WinterFrogs · 04/08/2025 19:49

Oh it was! Though i did have to get dressed and go out afterwards.
@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia I hope you have a lovely relaxing evening in your pyjamas. I'm about to get into a bath, then it's pjs for me too.
I have discovered the joy of reading along to an audio book on my kindle, so I plan to do that till I'm ready to drop off.

There was once a thread on MN about cosy things that people like, that I must see if I can find again.

Sweet dreams, all!

I feel just like @Peridot1 - I don’t know where the time is going. I read the thread and don’t get round to posting. Back up visiting oldies for a few days so no projecteering going on. We’ve got lots of both sides of the family in the same area so will catch up with parents in law, dad, stepmother, my uncle and cousin, my auntie and my brother and sister in law. Also two sets of friends!

SpiritOfEdna · 05/08/2025 15:16

morning - busy day already for me. @Mumtobabyhavoc I raise your tyre with a red engine light.... dropped car off to have diagnostic scan run on it after gym this morning.
Today:

  • some sanding down to do. I've watched too many furniture flipping insta reels. I really need a workshop 😄
  • my knee is very sore at the moment - fingers crossed it is nothing and is better in a couple of days.
  • loads of work admin to complete for interviews
  • food shop + some stuff to send off
  • we are venturing up into the loft to see what is up there....eeek.
Not a lot on today, but I'd like to get my small list done, right off to another interview...have a good day, SoE
Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/08/2025 15:35

I had an energy burst yesterday and packed up dc's outgrown clothes and some toys for donation which I'll drop today. I've got two boxes of clothes plus flannel swaddling/receiving blankets and one box with toys and a play mat. It's such a weight off to clear it out.

Peridot, that will definitely keep you busy!
SoE, would it be worth having a physio take a lot to be safe?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/08/2025 22:01

Another blitz today:
Vacuumed
Load of laundry washed and hung up
Dropped off the donations to the baby charity
Went to tire store, bought 2 new tires, booked appt for tomorrow ($500 all in)

Ordered new electric griddle from Amazon so now going to run to recycling place to drop off two old electric pans and some old and rusted baking sheets
Put together a gift bag for a friend that is long over due as well. Will arrange to meet her once new tires are on as that involves highway driving and I'm avoiding that with the spare as it's a donut and rated for max 80, but tech said stick to 60km/h max.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 05/08/2025 23:53

Have now dropped off recycling, stopped at Staples for coloured construction paper to put Havoc's birthday photo wall up next month then Home Depot for light bulbs for bathroom. I'm just going to put the pics into sleeves in binders until I figure out what to do with them.

autumnangel · 06/08/2025 00:24

Hello everyone. I feel like I have been so busy over the last week or so but don't actually have anything to report. DH's funeral was yesterday and the reality still hasn't sunk in, I'm very much going through the motions. I feel like there's lots to do every day yet I'm getting nothing done. I am currently making a pot of soup so I didn't have to go to bed. However, I do think tomorrow (or today I should say) needs to be a calm one. I've been out and about every single day for weeks and maybe it's time to close the door and put my feet up for a bit.
I'll come back tomorrow with a (small!) list as there are a few jobs that need to be done.

Hope everyone is doing ok❤

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/08/2025 01:10

Oh, @autumnangel That must've been so difficult for you. It does sound surreal. My thoughts are with you. 🩷

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/08/2025 06:46

It never ends...
I was having a bath and washing my hair when baby decided to take off diaper after pooing. And walk around. 😯
Finished my bath somewhat hastily, dried off, bathed baby, then Havoc and then steam-mopped floors. 🙄
Towel laundry basket was full, so threw a load of towels on to wash with bleach. Waiting for that to finish.
Had some peach froyo with some caramel and choc sauces. It was necessary.

Peridot1 · 06/08/2025 11:02

Thoughts with you from me too @autumnangel. It’s such a difficult time. Just be kind to yourself. Don’t try to do too much.

petalpower · 06/08/2025 12:17

Thinking of you @autumnangel Flowers

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 08/08/2025 08:18

@autumnangel . You have been through so much. Thanks

WinterFrogs · 09/08/2025 07:13

I hope you are as ok as you can be @autumnangel ❤️

Struggling to wake up this morning. Slept very heavily. So coffee and wordle ( in 7)
Should drink the coffee before trying to use my brain. Got connections.

Brushed cat while the kettle was boiling. It's become our little ritual. He has his medication then, too. I thought of this thread whilst removing sticky cleavers from his tail.

Right, getting up! Things to do. Have a lovely Saturday everyone 💐
