Hello! Big 🫂 to everyone, especially those who are facing challenges or loss.

We had a lot of rain here, and everything looks fresh and green. I think the earth is breathing a sigh of relief.

What I need to do is begin Flylady again. I had a second email account just for her emails as there are just So Many!

But the place is feeling chaotic and my mind is chaotic. Usually sorting my home sorts my internal chaos.

There has been a lot on. So this afternoon I am just resting after a busy morning with some friends. I have a 'stop the world, I want to get off' feeling, and have learnt over the years that it is my body's warning to take a pause.

I hope you are all getting some weekend rest, at some point at least 💕

Went on a bit of a tear cleaning-wise: vacuumed last night, steam-mopped floors today plus area rugs, tops of couches, a bit of a wall and baseboards, mattresses, a bench I love with a sort of froo-froo faux sheepskin-like cover that is now stained and matted and likely needs replacing; changed /washed sheets on two beds, folded/put away clothes and purged a bit of baby's clothes for donation and now I have one full box to go.
I also made a pot of tea, two tea bags, that I'm steeping to chill for ice tea with lemon and mint from the garden. I'll likely let it steep until tomorrow. I need to make ice.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 20/07/2025 06:42

Morning.

Sending a hug to @autumnangel Thanks

Hope you got a decent rest @WinterFrogs . i know that feeling.

My aim today - do 3 things on my to do list. Life admin sort of stuff. Plus buy a new ironing board and then iron the clothes that have been building up this week. Exciting stuff!

petalpower · 20/07/2025 09:37

Hope you’re ok @WinterFrogs . Sounds like you’ve had a lot on your plate recently juggling family things on top of work and life stuff. It’s good that you recognise the need to slow down and take a bit of time out.
You’re always so busy @Mumtobabyhavoc . I don’t know how you do it with two little ones!
We got back from holiday on Friday evening so yesterday was spent getting on top of jobs. The washing basket is full to the top but we’ve got rain forecast on and off all week and I much prefer line dried clothes. I need to try to get into the veg garden today and do some weeding and lift the potatoes. Everything went mad whilst we were away and it’s looking a bit of a state. Also expecting a FaceTime call with my dad as adult DS has gone to visit grandparents this weekend. He stays with my PIL and visits dad at the care home - visits can be tricky on your own so I’m usually on standby for FaceTime. Dad had a fall yesterday and has hurt his arm so I’m keen to see how he is.
Have a lovely day everyone!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/07/2025 20:14

Winter, Lobelia, my to-do list is long. I finally managed a bit more painting yesterday while Havoc napped and my mum held baby for me.💡It was an awkward bit of the kitchen wall under cupboards and above counter. Took me about 90 mins from prep to clean-up. I need to do another coat and touch-ups and hopefully will get to that in a couple days.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 21/07/2025 06:15

Morning.

Hope your Dad is okay @petalpower

@Mumtobabyhavoc I have 15 things on my To Do list to date - mainly things I put off. I have blocked 2 hours out of my diary this morning to crack on with things. Then I need to do a cruise of all the pharmacies in our extended local area as there are stock issues with medication DS1 needs and I have not been able to obtain any in the 4 pharmacies near us. Grrrr.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

petalpower · 21/07/2025 21:52

Thank you @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia - my dad had a big dressing on his elbow but had no memory of his fall and according to DS didn’t seem in any pain.
Hope everyone has had a good day - I’ve been to see an old friend for lunch and caught up with my godson at the same time which was lovely. Managed a few little jobs around my visit too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/07/2025 07:35

Lobelia, it's a never ending list, isn't it? 🙄
Petal, sorry your dad fell, but glad he seems ok. It's so stressful when our parents get older. 💛

No tasks today. Yea! 🤗
I'll get laundry put away tomorrow and wash what is in the baskets. It's a fairly free day tomorrow and I would like to get something done.
I was out for a walk along the beach with dc this evening. We went to Locarno Beach/Spanish Banks.

Daily Project round 7
Peridot1 · 22/07/2025 10:14

Morning all.

Not sure where time is going and what I’m achieving. A list needs to be made. Think I said that a few days ago.

I have been out for a walk this morning and then managed to empty the dishwasher before the supermarket delivery arrived. Now sitting with a glass of water and trying to decide what jobs need doing. As I’m looking at a very dusty coffee table that might be one job. It involves crawling around on my knees to do the bottom level so I tend to put it off. I also need to try to move it as I can see a dead fly under it but it’s heavy.

Then I might start on washing down the kitchen units. I’m out all afternoon so that might be it for the day.

DS is sick so I’m playing nursemaid as well. He’s grumpy when sick which isn’t helpful.

Have a great day all.

petalpower · 23/07/2025 00:19

Beautiful photo @Mumtobabyhavoc !
Unfortunately my dad was found
on the floor of his care home during last night so I’ve done an emergency 3 hour drive to be with him in hospital. Currently on hour 18 in A and E. No chance of a ward bed any time tonight :(

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/07/2025 04:10

Oh, no @petalpower I'm so sorry to hear your news. How is he now? You must be shattered all around. Sending strength and support to you. I'm just going to get the kids ready for bed, but will check back in case you post again. 💛

petalpower · 23/07/2025 04:44

Thank you @Mumtobabyhavoc . Dad is a little better and making more sense. Yesterday afternoon he took a turn for the worse but has responded to the antibiotics and fluids. I‘m really tired though.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/07/2025 05:03

Petal, Have you managed any rest? Are you by yourself? Can you get a shower anywhere? Food?

I know what it's like sitting in emerg for hours. It's exhausting and uncomfortable.

Glad antibiotics and fluids have been given and your dad is getting some rest. 💛

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 23/07/2025 05:14

Hand hold @petalpower Thanks

I am so sorry to hear this happened and hope so much that your dad now has a bed and you have somewhere comfortable also. Forlorn hope I know. Thanks

petalpower · 23/07/2025 05:50

My dad is still on a trolley in A and E but in a cubicle. I have a chair. My sister in law came last night with a massive bag of food and drinks so I’m well catered for. The staff are very busy but have brought me cups of tea. Thanks for keeping me company @Mumtobabyhavoc and @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 23/07/2025 06:22

Hoping things go well @petalpower . You must be exhausted.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/07/2025 07:21

Petal, I'm glad to know you've got someone bringing you much needed food. Can someone relieve you for a bit so you can get some rest and a shower, or can you pop out for a while? I know it's difficult and you might not want to leave. Doctors (here, at least) make rounds starting around 7am, so hopefully you'll get an update soon. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and sending strength. 💛

WinterFrogs · 23/07/2025 07:40

Good morning everyone and sorry to hear your news @petalpower It sounds like a very rough time for you and your dad. Sending a handhold too 💐 and good wishes for a bed for dad and some rest for you!

Sorry about sick DH @Peridot1 On top of his knee it sounds like you have your hands full! And the grumpiness just adds to it, doesn't it?

Lovely picture @Mumtobabyhavoc We took our granddaughter out yesterday and had such a nice time, but grandad and I were probably more tired than she was at the end of the day. Though apparently she went out like a light at bedtime so we did our job well!

Any luck with the meds @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia? There is something my dd needs that has a nationwide shortage, and she hasn't responded well to the alternatives, so we have done some chasing around too. No luck yet but we keep hoping! Not how you planned to spend the holidays, I'm sure!

I need to write a list, as the rest of this week is looking quite overwhelming. I am also looking at dusty glass furniture so that needs dealing with, and a small trail of destruction left by gdc, although we tidied the main areas after she left yesterday.

Really hoping for a bed for your dad today @petalpower 🙏 Mum was in hospital for a couple of months last year and there were many moves, first between wards and then between hospitals. Poor soul was so confused - as were we, as we often weren't told till we arrived on the wrong ward! They are so busy so couldn't blame the staff, but it felt quite surreal at the time.

My typing is coming along quite well, and I'm quite enjoying it now. It's very soothing to practise, with steady progress from simple repetition.

Sending all good wishes to everyone, regulars and lurkers alike! If you're still reading @autumnangel @mumofoneAlonebutokay @SingleThreadJoiner @RunningKatie @JingsMahBucket I hope all is well with you all, and we haven't seen @Aria999 for a while either so I hope you're just busy ❤️
Apologies to anyone I have missed 👋

@SpiritOfEdna how could I forget you? I need to hoover sand from the car today after our visit to the beach yesterday and it reminded me of you and SpiritDoggo

@petalpower - sorry to read about your Dad. I hope you get him sorted soon. Either in a bed or back at the home. I know some homes aren’t keen on taking them back too soon if they are a fall risk. We have had that issue with MIL. Thankfully her niece is a tough cookie and has managed to get her home to take her back. (Although to be honest I think they would love to get rid of MIL as she is so difficult)

@WinterFrogs - it’s actually DS who is ill. So I’m nursemaid to both of them! DH’s knee is slowly improving thankfully but I think he’s enjoyed being looked after a bit too much!

I can hear DS moving about upstairs so I think he is up and working today. He took the last couple of days off sick.

I am thinking of @autumnangel and hope she is doing as well as she can dealing with everything.

I did do the coffee table yesterday. It looks much better. Didn’t manage to do much else other than the basics.

Today -

  • gym
  • dishwasher/kitchen
  • towel wash
  • start washing down kitchen units
  • weed pots and beds on patio, deadhead and feed and give all a good water

Have a great day all.

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 23/07/2025 09:00

Morning all.

I did manage to get the meds after my 7th pharmacy visit, thanks @WinterFrogs . It was a nearly 3 hour round trip due to travel distances and traffic between pharmacies! The branded version is not available anywhere right now apparently. But my 7th pharmacy were happy to hand over a generic version. It's very anxiety-provoking as I know you understand, as we go through this palaver every month.

Thinking also of @autumnangel .

I have one thing on my To Do list today that I REALLY cannot put off any longer. Which means I have to settle down in our 'document drawer' and find a document.

Then out with the DCs. I have 2 hours to sort out the document issue. I expect the bulk of it will be listening to the 'hold on' music at the bank.

Hope everyone has a good day. Thanks

petalpower · 23/07/2025 09:15

I’m hoping dad’s nursing home will have him back @Peridot1 . He moved there after a hospital stay for sepsis last year and was quite wobbly when he went. They’re nursing rather than just residential and it’s a purpose built building. My DH is now on his way after taking the dogs to his parents who are local to here so I will probably go and try to get some fresh air and maybe 40 winks in the car as I don’t really want to go off site.

Peridot1 · 23/07/2025 11:52

@petalpower - a Power Nap sounds like a good plan. Glad DH is on his way.

RunningKatie · 23/07/2025 13:44

Checking in for the summer holidays!
I have a to-do list that runs to 2 pages, and actually not a lot of time off.
DH is taking the dc away for a few days, ddog and I are at home. I'm working but also doing evening drop-offs of anything they might not have packed!

Hope everyone is ok x

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/07/2025 15:51

Petal, how has your day been? I hope you got some sleep etc. glad to know your dh will be there and your in-laws are nearby (if I understood correctly). How's your dad?

I'm just up and getting ready to take baby to activity, then will come back home and turnaround and take Havoc to activity, then home again, lunch and take my mum to med appt with a stop at pharmacy on the way. Busy day ahead.
