Morning all.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - you seem to achieve so much with little ones. Even if some jobs are necessitated by accidents!

@petalpower - there are always the professionally offended on threads here sometimes! I wouldn’t worry about referring to the “oldies”. It’s affectionate shorthand really.

I didn’t get to do the floor under the cooker yesterday but will do it this morning. For some reason the oven drips a bit so it ends up a bit mucky. I did do my hated job of cleaning the lights over the island though.

Didn’t have to go with DS in the afternoon in the end so did some plant planting. And vacuumed and swept part of the patio.

Today’s list:

  • towel wash - on
  • dishwasher- done
  • put supermarket deliver away
  • gym
  • vacuum

Not sure I’ll get much else done as have pottery this afternoon.

Have a great day all.

Morning, busy morning already for me, gym first thing, hung up all the clothes I finished ironing last night and I can see the floor in my bedroom. I've just (finally) done the filling in around another one of the doors that was fitted last year; 2 days to cure and then it can be trimmed and then painted at the weekend and finally got round to booking my eye test. I need when I buy new glasses to get two pairs, because I always lose them within a couple of weeks of getting them and I am sooo sick of supermarket cheapies that break. I need them with chains 😃

Today

  • the climbing plants in the border have exploded over the last week, so I need to get some hooks up on the fence to train them up instead of out
  • couple of meetings to get through for the day and then I will be done
  • the cream I needed to polish my hiking boots has arrived so I need to sort them out. New laces have just arrived.
  • carry on annoying ChatGPT for my walking routes
  • desk......tidy
  • floors.....cleaned
That's all for today, have a good one, SoE
SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 17/06/2025 13:09

Hello!

Lots of busy plans on here!

I refer to my oldies as oldies too, @petalpower . Grin But that is carrying on a tradition where they did in their (earlier) turn as well.

For me today is a tidying for the cleaner day as tomorrow I have a full working day ahead in the office. I have 2 more days of this temp assignment to go (tomorrow and Friday) and then am off for the summer which seems like a glorious luxury- which of course it is!

So, tidying,. some washing and watering of pots on the agenda. Then picking up Dcs from after school clubs and we are having dinner out at a sort of supper club one of the pubs runs. You don't have a choice of food (well you do, vegetarian or non-vegetarian) and for £12 a head it is homemade and excellent value. Tonight they are doing moussaka with salads and a rolled pork loin with polenta.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/06/2025 14:37

This waking up too early has got to stop... woke up at 5:54. C on a B!!!! 😂
Turned dishwasher on. Opened door to deck to let fresh air in. Now scrolling, which I know is a mistake. 🙄
it's 6:37...

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/06/2025 17:20

Have now vacuumed. Plan is to get a load of laundry on before taking Havoc to an activity and fold/put away yesterday's laundry that's now dry.

Peridot, was thinking about your comment. I think that I approach things in a 15-minute way. ie kids are occupied with toys, likely will be okay for 15 mins, I'll put laundry in/vacuum/clean bathroom etc. Things don't pile up too much for me this way. I get very overwhelmed when everything is is disarray. I also get very anxious with clutter.

petalpower · 17/06/2025 21:25

I need to clean my oven too @Peridot1 . I also need to clean the dishwasher and top up the salt and rinse aid. There’s probably loads of other things too!
We’re now away and visiting the oldies (thanks for your reassurance that I’m not being disrespectful using the term). DH has been helping his parents in the garden (they’re both in their nineties!) and I’ve visited my dad at the care home. He was on good form for him which was a relief, very pleased to see me and more settled than I’ve seen him recently. He’s mostly in his own reality but isn’t distressed. Dementia is rubbish.
I’m always amazed by how much you achieve with two young children @Mumtobabyhavoc but I know what you mean about using pockets of time. I once read an article about using spare 5 minute blocks of time and how much you can do.
Hope everyone else is ok. Compared to a lot of threads on MN this is like a little haven.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/06/2025 22:22

I'm happy to report I met my targets for today: got the washing done and hung up before getting out the door at 10:45am. Made a stop on the way home for crafting paint/brushes and needles/thread. Going to try and add some paint to a clay handprint I did of Havoc's hand in January 🫣 and sew the seam of a new t-shirt I cut in error while trying to cut the tag off (I followed the line!)😡 several months ago 🫣 before Havoc grows out of it as it has hardly been worn.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/06/2025 22:24

And Yes to 5-minutes a task. We used to talk a lot about what we'd do while waiting for the kettle. It's a handy tip! 💡

WinterFrogs · 18/06/2025 06:24

Morning! @Mumtobabyhavoc I've done exactly that this morning: swept and mopped kitchen floor while kettle was boiling. Also a load of washing is out, bed is made and I've wiped down the bathroom windowsill.

Up and out early today - catch you all later!

Oh I love that @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia ❤️ That's the kind of morning I've had. DH meanwhile got up, got ready for work and gone.
He's better than me at the other end of the day!

RunningKatie · 18/06/2025 09:13

Morning all - wfh, sat quietly boiling already. DC2 has a friend over this afternoon so in pauses I'm doing bathroom wipe-overs and picking up stuff.
Yesterday I cleared a surface, went out for an hour, when I returned it had been covered in random things. I was not happy at all.
Anyway, back to work!

petalpower · 18/06/2025 10:12

That picture certainly resonates with me @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia !

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 19/06/2025 06:02

Morning all!

I understand your frustration @RunningKatie !

I did a classic Daily Project last night. Put on a youtube video and decluttered the dining room. for 12 minutes. It never fails to amaze me how much you can get done in a short period of time! This week my focus is the dining room and I will dedicate 10 minutes a day on it and I will just keep going until it is to my liking.

Only a few weeks of school left before the Dcs break up and I am SO looking forward to it!

Otherwise it is a garden day for me. We have a fallen pear tree in one part of the garden. I said casually to DH last night; 'Would you show me how to use a chainsaw so I can cut that up for firewood?'. Which means that DH will be cutting it up for firewood today. Grin

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

WinterFrogs · 19/06/2025 07:10

That is such man management @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia Inspired! All the best with your dining room project too.

@JingsMahBucket and @mumofoneAlonebutokay I hope all is well with you both ❤️

I need to leave the house in an hour, and I have things to pick up and put away. So I'll do that before I go. I'm guessing that it'll be humid and sticky by the time I get home so I need to get a move on and do it now.

Current stats: Wordle - 4, Connections - don't ask!

Thinking of you all today ☕️ 🍰

hello. Morning gym session for me today - and have done a couple of outstanding tasks
Today

  • leather chair cleaned with saddle soap
  • finished trimming the expanding foam from door surrounds. I also need to pick up the debris and not leave it there 😄
  • emptied the dishwasher so there is no build up of dirty dishes as the day goes on (my pet peeve)
  • ironing to do
  • floors to do
  • SpiritDoggo to walk - which will do now
Will do a drive pass on a house I like the exterior of see if I can stop and chat to the workmen 😄, that's all for today, SoE

I used to be able to turn the dishwasher round while the kettle was boiling (kettles take a long time out here) but recently we got a posh coffee machine like the ones they have in posh coffee shops so now hardly use the kettle! And the coffee machine takes seconds for the coffee and requires manual intervention for the frothy milk.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/06/2025 16:35

Good morning all 🌤️
Still waking up before I need to. 🤦‍♀️
Put a load of laundry on and folded/put away most of what was hanging from the other day. Will get this new load hung up before taking baby to activity. Leaving in about an hour.
School is done for summer and some of dc's summer activities start next week. I've got Havoc in 3 and baby in 2 for roughly 8 weeks.
Wiped part of kitchen floor with a wet paper towel after wiping baby's face, but I need to properly map. 😂 And I need to order new microfibre cloths off Amazon (overdue task) for the steam mop.

It's nice reading what everyone is up to. Hope it's not too humid over there.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/06/2025 01:02

Have ordered the replacement mop pads. ✅
Why did I procrastinate on that for so long?! 🤦‍♀️
I now need light bulbs for the bathroom fixture. Again. 😡

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/06/2025 05:01

Have now taken car through car wash and vacuumed it. Kids in tow. Gonna be a late night... 🤷‍♀️

Peridot1 · 20/06/2025 08:00

Morning all. Or evening to @Mumtobabyhavoc.

Don’t know where this week went. I certainly don’t feel like I achieved much. I started rearranging stuff in units in our dining area but didn’t finish so still have stuff I’ve taken out of the cupboards on the dining table. I had my second pottery class on Tuesday- I was rubbish. Got my hair cut and coloured on Wednesday. Drove to a supermarket almost an hour away with DS yesterday to help him film stuff for work. Bought some clothes for me. Got home to realise a swimsuit had been on wrong sized hanger and was actually four sizes too big. So needed to change that. It was too hot to do much else yesterday afternoon other than do that - thankfully I didn’t have to drive to the original supermarket but could go to one a bit closer! Today I have a PT session this morning and then an Ascot Ladies Day afternoon tea at a local hotel this afternoon. Tomorrow we are going to a 50th wedding anniversary party in the afternoon. And on Sunday I’m going to a food festival with DS - he has to go for work.

DH is still out of action with his knee. The grass is ridiculously long. He has agreed if he can’t manage to get it cut over next few days we can get someone to do it. We have 1.5 acres so it’s a lot. I’m happy to do edges etc but not keen on using the ride on mower. But I might have to.

So that was long!

Anyway jobs for today:

  • dishwasher/kitchen
  • fold washing that’s been hanging up for a few days
  • take towels out of dryer
  • vacuum
  • gym session

Have a great day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/06/2025 08:03

Yep. A late night, but dc are sound asleep. Took them to Locarno Beach and had a snack at the Vegan Night Market then a bit of a walk.
Nothing scheduled for tomorrow, so I'm hoping to sleep a bit later. 🤞Must clean and tidy the deck again as I want to put up red and white lights and a little Canadian flag banner for Canada Day as a fun thing for the kids.

I’d forgotten you were in Vancouver @Mumtobabyhavoc . My DS came back from a work conference there yesterday and said what an amazing place it is!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 20/06/2025 21:26

Yes, Petal. Did your ds do anything interesting/fun while here?
It's currently 15c and raining lighy here. It's a lovely and refreshing summer rain. You can smell it. Google tells me it's called petrichor. 🤓

Havoc has been napping for an hour. I tidied and vacuumed. 🙌

petalpower · 20/06/2025 22:18

He went for a cycle ride around Stanley Park I think @Mumtobabyhavoc then up into some hills/mountains and a wander around the waterfront area. It was only a short trip with quite a lot of work involved but he was very complimentary about the Canadian hospitality and the food. (Disclaimer: I’m just his ancient mother so may have not got the details correct!)
