That's lovely to hear Petal. ☺️
A bike ride in Stanley Park would be something I'd recommend.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 21/06/2025 07:51

DC have fallen asleep quite late. I took them out for a drive after dinner intending on going to the night market over in N Van, but couldn't find any decent parking, so off to Costco we went and got home close to 9pm. Got us all bathed and into pj's, fed and dc were still wide awake, so had a bit of ice cream, brushed teeth and they were finally ready to call it a day. I took advantage of them being asleep to tidy the bathroom and put washcloths into the laundry basket then cleaned sink, toilet and floor. Have got sport event for Havoc in the morning and plan is get another load of laundry done and if dc both nap in the afternoon to paint another section of the kitchen. Baby steps over here. 😂

petalpower · 21/06/2025 15:55

Very hot here and no rain forecast so today has been a bit determined by staying cool! DH is out all day so I can largely please myself. I finally got round to giving the oven a bit of a clean as it was looking less than sparkling, planted out the last of the greenhouse plants and put some cosmos in a planter by the back door, dealt with some family admin and just generally got back on top of things after our few days away visiting the oldies. Seem to be grinding to a bit of a halt now though!
Hope you’re all keeping cool and having a lovely weekend.

Aria999 · 21/06/2025 18:18

DS(9) learned to ride a bike yesterday 🎊🪅

we went to a free bike riding class and he was so determined nobody was taking the pedals off his bike (they had told us everyone needed to start with them off) that he figured out how to ride it in the 3 minutes before class started! He is very pleased with himself though he does have a few bumps and bruises today.

DD(5) didn't make much progress and kept falling and hurting herself. She was very upset not to have managed it.

petalpower · 22/06/2025 09:17

Well done to your DS @Aria999 - that’s such a milestone!
I thought of you all the other day and our conversation about the 5 minute boiling the kettle tasks and the picture of the print @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia posted. I took DD to the station and as part of my journey I filled up with diesel, dropped some plant pots for recycling at a swap point, took the soft plastic recycling, nipped into aldi for cream and meringues and went to the greengrocers and butchers. Definitely not a 5 minute boiling the kettle job but satisfying to have achieved so much on one trip out.

petalpower · 22/06/2025 20:55

Where is everyone? All very quiet around these parts!

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 22/06/2025 21:45

Just a pop in from me

I hope youre all well 💕

I've been a bit low and lost tbh. Not sure what it is but feeling bleurgh.

But over the past couple of weeks, ive read half of Catch 22 and done a couple of deep cleans. Dd has made another mess though so ive got another deep clean to do tomorrow 😭

Dd has been taught to put things in the bin - so now she puts everything she doesn't like in there - in the past few mins shes tried to chuck away some sausages id made for tomorrow and ive found a pack of plums in my bedroom bin!

Will catch up on the thread very soon, but hope you're all well and enjoying the heat (or wishing it away whilst moaning to the cat, like I am)

❤️❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/06/2025 04:47

@mumofoneAlonebutokay sorry you're feeling down. I get it. 🩷

Took the kids to Greek Day in Kits today. Still finding it weird to see the barricades to the entrances and police with automatic rifles. It will be the norm now.
Got a load of laundry washed and hung up once home, baths and dinner. Havoc in bed and asleep a short while later just past 7. Baby slept on the way home and is full of beans atm. 🤦‍♀️
Managed one extra yesterday: made appt at Apple and got my phone "fixed". Took 90 mins which was why I had been putting it off.

WinterFrogs · 23/06/2025 07:00

Morning all! I had half a post written out, then got distracted and then it was out of date.
Good to 'see' you all. Well done to @Aria999's DC's bike riding success and @mumofoneAlonebutokay I hope you are starting to feel less bleugh!
Lots going on round here and I've hardly been on MN which is a good thing really.
We've had some rain which I'm grateful for.

Today I'm mostly going to get my act together and get things in place to improve my time management.

Best wishes to everyone ❤️

Hope you’re ok @mumofoneAlonebutokay . Greek Day sounds fun @Mumtobabyhavoc . Life just gets busy sometimes doesn’t it @WinterFrogs .
Had a very disturbed night with junior dog who got me up at 2.30 and 5.30. I don’t know what’s wrong with him, it’s very out of character. I gave up in the end and got up properly at 6am - now waiting to take the dogs out for their walk, we meet friends so it’s a set time. Junior dog seems full of beans so I don’t know what’s wrong with was disturbing him last night. I’ve already made a start on house jobs so am a bit ahead but will no doubt crash later. We’ve also had a little bit of rain overnight and the air feels much fresher which is a relief.
Have a good day everyone.

Peridot1 · 23/06/2025 09:30

Morning all.

Been a busy weekend here. Out on Friday at an afternoon tea for Ascot Ladies Day and then drinks afterwards at some friends. A 50th wedding anniversary party on Saturday that went from 2pm to around 10pm. And then yesterday I went to a Great British Food Festival half a hour away with DS as he had to be there to take photos for one of his brands and post to Instagram. Not much was achieved in the house over the weekend so it’s feeling a bit chaotic.

@petalpower - I like getting a few things done on one trip out too. Makes me feel quite accomplished!

Today’s list:

  • Dishwasher - have unloaded, reloaded and it’s on again
  • clean kitchen
  • laundry
  • vacuum and wash floors in kitchen/dining/sitting area
  • dead head roses and vacuum up all the petals currently blowing around the patio
  • change a bed

Have a good day all.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 23/06/2025 18:28

Peridot, I looked that up. Sounds fun and very fancy! 😊 Did you try for "best hat?" How was the lunch?

Peridot1 · 23/06/2025 22:07

@Mumtobabyhavoc - it wasn’t real Ascot. Although we aren’t too far away. Our village church fundraising committee organise afternoon tea on Ascot ladies day every year at our local hotel which happens to be a Four Seasons hotel so quite fancy. People do dress up. Some wear hats. I didn’t. I’m not really a hat person! But it’s a lovely event. We have a private room with a tv to watch the races and we put in money and draw out a horse for each race. None of mine won sadly! I did win a raffle prize of an afternoon tea hamper though. It’s a nice event. With quite a lot of Prosecco consumed!

That sounds great, Peridot. You wouldn't have to walk so much in heels and deal with crowds (and heat). What a great idea!

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 24/06/2025 07:30

Love that idea @Peridot1 ! Like @Mumtobabyhavoc probably better than actual Ascot!

Hope you are feeling better @mumofoneAlonebutokay Thanks

SpiritOfEdna · 24/06/2025 11:57

Morning. Today has been a busy one already, but payday tomorrow, so

  • amazon list at the ready
  • b&q list at the ready
  • next month's budget done and I have to buy train tickets to get me to London for the CdS trip. Please let there be no new tyres needed this month
  • SpiritDoggo's fur is full of grass seeds so she needs a good old comb through - her face looks like it's full of green spikes
  • desk tidy needed
  • need to do a shopping list for C&C
  • have seen meeting requests coming through for next round of interviews. Please let these ones be good candidates
  • my car desperately needs a good clean - so am going to start chipping away at the inside front (all the bits I can see 😄)
  • this is gross - but for some reason dead flies seem to collect behind the blinds which almost never get fully opened. (would you believe SpiritDoggo complains loudly when they get opened - god forbid a bit of sunshine gets in the room) So the hoover will come out for them today.
  • just gone down a rabbit hole looking for a print online; only to realise the artist I was looking for was known by two names - was getting very confused
  • floors&doors day
That's it for today, have a good one, SoE
WinterFrogs · 26/06/2025 07:08

Hello! Spirit Doggo certainly lives the life, bless her!
Your village sounds like a fun place to live Peridot
@petalpower we had thunder rolling around earlier in the week and that used to set our late, much missed old dog off, even when it was distant. Could that have been junior's trouble?

Just peeped at Greek Day, Mumtohavocs and it looks like fun. My mum's home does special days to celebrate other countries and cultures and they make it a lot of fun.

I need a reset today. I've been a bit of a whirling dervish lately, and so I need a good potter, to sort my home and soothe my soul.

I hope you all have a good day ☕️ 🍰

OP posts:
SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 26/06/2025 07:37

Snap on the need for a potter and reset @WinterFrogs !

Sorry for being AWOL. It's been a strange week and I've not been online much.

Today ought to be a garden day but I suspect that after our lovely cleaner has gone I will potter in the kitchen and watch some netflix. I might also look through some recipe books for a nice easy dish for the Dcs to make at the weekend. I am thinking of employing a jarred mild curry sauce in any case.

Hope everyone is well. xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/06/2025 08:27

Hope everything is ok, Lobelia?

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 26/06/2025 09:13

Hi @Mumtobabyhavoc sorry, yes everything fine. Just bitty and lots of errands and trying to srt things out and nothing seems to have been achieved! But I am taking it easy today (until the evening anyway when we have to go to a school event) and hopefully back in full Daily Project mode soon. Smile

Hope you are all well also. Smile Thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 26/06/2025 09:49

Glad to hear, Lobelia. School's done here for summer now.
Winter, getting a few things in order makes me feel better, too. It's lovely that your mum's home does fun things.

DC were asleep and I was watching docs and scrolling while I laid on the couch using compression cuffs on my legs and feet. I really need to get back to that regularly. Then baby woke with a bit of crying and a very distinctive, "Mummy! " 🩷
I decided to get the wand vacuum out and baby followed me around then plopped down on the floor with some toys. Steam-mopped next and when I went into the living room Havoc was lying on the couch. 🤦‍♀️ Gave them both a banana to share and some milk for Havoc then I finished steaming the floor/rugs, used the last bit to steam clean the garbage bin, wiped out the sliding door tracks then wiped out the coffee maker and washed the filter. So, got all my puttering done. Will put laundry away at some point today. Goodnight for now, though. 🥱

SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 27/06/2025 19:57

Good evening/morning!

Hope everyone is well.

@Mumtobabyhavoc our steam mop has broken this week. I can't imagine why as i think we only used it about 3 times in 10 years!

I am up to date with laundry which is something.

What plans for everyone this weekend? I am hoping the promised heatwave will indeed come and if it does then want to take the DCs for a picnic at the beach. We have a lovely cool forest relatively near us also so a little early morning walk might be nice as well.

Hope everyone is well and fine. xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/06/2025 22:54

A broken steam mop would really upset me! 😂😂😂
I've got my eye on canister models next, though.
I won't be making a new purchase anytime soon as I just got the replacement pads from Amazon which I finally ordered!

Lots done today: vision and GP appts booked; specialist appts booked; took my mum to specialist appt; ordered prescription refill and did pharmacy pick-up; stopped and bought baby new sunnies $20 for sunglasses and $20 for a strap🙄); laundry folded and put away and another load washed and hung up before going out and then cooked lunch once home (rigatoni with feta, sundried tomatoes and asparagus).
Popping out now to pick up a new sink I ordered. 😅

WinterFrogs · 28/06/2025 06:04

Morning all! So much for a pottering day on Thursday. All my 'could you justs' took up the whole day. I have ring fenced today though. I am craving silence, and fortunately it's the cricket season, so I will get the house to myself this afternoon.
No sign of a heatwave here though it's threatened promised. Cloudy and a strong breeze.

I have expectations of a parking fine as I misread the blurb at a long-stay car park. That's the trouble with paying for things with the phone, when one doesn't have one's reading glasses. Lesson learnt!

Waving hello to you all, and hope you have a lovely weekend. I shall wash my shower curtain today, as my daily thing.

OP posts:
SpringingIntoSummerLobelia · 28/06/2025 07:28

aaahhh @Mumtobabyhavoc I am having the most delightful image of littlest Havoc in her sunnies. 😍

Boo on the parking fine @WinterFrogs . Thanks

Cloudy here so far too.

My main classic Daily Project plan for today is to go and buy some pot feet for my various pots. I have 3 standard roses and one has one of these wheelie things (linked below) and it is noticeably in better condition than the others. I can't afford more of the wheelie versions so pot feet will have to be a compromise until I am a bit more in funds. (Currently saving hard for our summer holiday).
