Here we go again. Chit chat and small daily projects. Celebrate the wins!

Hey all ❤️

Took my car to be serviced and it passed it's MOT thankfully. An hour to kill before collecting dd. Done a small food shop of lots of fruit and some lemon squash

Day one of ditching the coke zero - I'm already sad without it 😢.

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia I was gonna say I'm having a lovely day enjoying the weather! 😭. Onion gravy ontop of bangers and mash sounds 😋 - i might have to copy but use carrot mash instead

I think this week will be the last of the rainy weather until September (my fave month, @JingsMahBucket 🥰) or October

Well done @Mumtobabyhavoc on getting the kids registered for swimming - i find that so much of kid admin is needlessly stressful

You've reminded me that i need to take dd swimming maybe next week - she loves it, as I'm sure yours will xx

And @WinterFrogs you've reminded me that we still dont have wardrobes! Clothes are just stored in dd's toy storage 🙈. Need to get that sorted!

This afternoon, after pick up, its just one thing: Clean the flat. Again.

aaah funny you should say @mumofoneAlonebutokay . My mash nowadays is always a mix of potato and carrot. I hated that when my mother did it but see the joys of that mix now.

I have some cream that needs to be used up and some fresh nutmegs so I think it will be the very deluxe mash version today.

I know, i didnt think id like carrot mash but with the right seasonings, its lovely

Morning, I am soaked through from walking SpiritDoggo; decided on a brisk walk round the field; it stopped midway and I was half should we venture a bit further when nope the heavens opened again. So back home and dreading how much moaning she will do later. Luckily am out tonight so sibling will face the brunt of the whining. 😅
Today:

• I need to get out of these wet clothes...
• water the (indoor) plants
• lots of moving things back into their rightful slots today
• unloaded dishwasher
• snooped a little on a neighbour's staircase work being done - how many times can I drive by today 😄
• floors
• print out some routes for long walks - need to do one at the weekend

ps - bad influences abound - I went on the hunt for an almond croissant yesterday and ended up with a flat and boring cherry danish booo.

Lots of activity here this morning! (It's 9:00 here)
I'm impressed by everyone and inspired as well. 😍
Was out of bed by ten to eight, brushed teeth etc, got dc done, separated laundry and put a loan in, folded and put away clothes, fed dc, got baby dressed and ready for activity, got myself dressed and made myself toast with PB and banana and heated a cup of tea in the microwave. Noticed the honey in the cupboard expired in 2020. 🤦‍♀️ Have got another toast on. Got dressed. Put morning chat show on. We call it the Happy Show here. The chat show that follows is the Angry Show. We watch that, too 😂

Began painting prep on another section of kitchen yesterday while dc napped.

Still haven't cleaned the flat. Did a bit of washing up, put a wash on and took out the bins though

Did drop off and was so exhausted I had to have a nap. So napped for about 90 mins and woke up just in time to leave to get dd from school! Straight to tesco for some snacks, and now shes got her tablet while I start dinner

Corned beef and rice tonight for her, roast chicken drumsticks for me

It should be thunderstorms tomorrow 😍, so ive got to bake my loaf of bread and some cupcakes for dd, and we're gonna enjoy a cosy Saturday in bed with a Christmas film on

I am desperately hoping there are not thunderstorms tomorrow. It;'s DS1's Duke of Ed thing. 12 ks the first day, camping then 20 ks the second he tells me. I am all for being pushed out of a comfort zone but this is very very confronting for me. The poor kid who is only just over 6 stone can barely pick up his rucksack.

Loving the idea of a Christmas film @mumofoneAlonebutokay ! Everything you say about your lovely flat makes it sound so cosy and welcoming.

I've been looking into Outward Bound for my dc when they're older.

I managed popping the towels into the wash and vacuuming before getting both dc to school this morning. Yea, me! 🤗
After school took them for lunch and got California rolls then I bought a new drip coffee maker. Didn't buy anything fancy, just a $99 (on sale) Kitchen Aid model. Mine doesn't seem to drip properly lately and overflows a bit so I end up with coffee ground in the coffee. Not a nice feeling when I take a big gulp of a much anticipated lattee. 😲
Bought 2 Lindt bars for s'mores (sea salt and chilli).

Baby is almost asleep.
Havoc is super excited for me to set the new coffee maker up. 😂
It's the little things. 😇

It's sunny and feels hot even though temp says it's only 20c. 🥵

Good luck to your DS @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia . The forecast was pretty dreadful for here (East Anglia) but so far it seems to be drizzly rather than the predicted heavy rain.

Thanks all. I am very worried and appreciate your good thoughts and wishes. He went off cheerfully enough. It's going to be a very long wait until tomorrow evening for me!

Oh I hope DS gets on ok @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia. Hope the weather isn’t as bad as forecast. Poor thing! I have to say I would have hated DofE. DS wasn’t keen either when he did it.

I’ve noted quite a lot of almond croissant consumption since I posted on Tuesday. I’m taking no responsibility! You are all adults and can make your own bad decisions! 😄. (I’m now craving a cherry danish!)

Not too sure what I’ve achieved this week. Cleaned the top half of the fridge but need to do the bottom. Something is smelling. DH thinks it might need a new filter. In the meantime a good clean and a bowl of bicarb is my plan.

DS has cleared rubbish and recycling and glasses plates etc from his room so I’m off to sort them.

Other tasks today are to clean downstairs cloakroom and vacuum and wash hall floor.

Im still doing my making rooms better by 1%. My bedroom mainly. Cleared top of a chest of drawers and dusted it this morning. I have a silver tray of perfumes on it and they were filthy and the tray was tarnished so I cleaned them and polished the tray the other day so that all looks much better.

It does not seem to be raining where they are yet and I am taking comfort from the fact that I have not had a phone call saying that there has been an accident / been bitten by a snake / went to the loo on a patch of nettles / been kicked in the head by a pony / fallen over due to weight of the rucksack and is now impersonating an upside down turtle.

This is very very much outside of my comfort zone! I am sure it is good for him me but I am looking forward to this being a nice memory and hopefully the start of some happy independence for him. But I still hope the forecast thunder hail and lightning does not happen until Monday!

All is well here thanks @SpringingIntoSummerLobelia 💐 I am a bit weary so I have plans to chill and read all afternoon. I just downloaded my currentl audiobook onto kindle because it's taken me ages to get past chapter three...on account of Art Malik's soporific tones 💕
So i have hope of actually getting into it. DH has been sent out to watch cricket so I'm hoping the rain stays away here as well.

Thinking of the DofE crown and hope all is well - are you braced for rescue?

Ladies, I have been productive!! (Edit, and gents, if you're here)

I've made four bowls of corned beef and rice for dd, as she loves it so much - two in the freezer, two in the fridge.
Made a loaf of bread, which I'm kinda okay with, although it could be better
Made chicken legs to go with the aubergine 'no pasta' bake i made the other day. My cooking is all done for the weekend ☺️.
Also hung up two loads of washing, with another one just gone on.

Dd helped make her cupcakes, which shes very happy with

Now its Only Murders in the Building and waiting for the bread to cool so we can climb into bed and start our 'mummy is definitely sane, she just wishes it was christmas' afternoon 🙌

@SpringingIntoSummerLobelia so far so good on the weather! You don't fancy mummy willpowering me an apartment on the NY Upper West side, do you?! 😄

I woke up at ten to 7. Havoc 5 mins after me and baby just ran into the living room and climbed up into my lap.
Gorgeous morning here and looks to be a very warm and sunny day. Will be out most of the day, but plan to be home in time to dress up and watch the US horserace, Belmont Stakes, which is the 3rd and longest race in the Triple Crown.

Unsure what I'll manage to get done today except laundry and that'll be after dinner.

The expected rain still hasn’t arrived here. I’ve had a bits and pieces day - I’ve had a FaceTime with my lovely dad whose birthday it is today, been into town with DD to pick up her new glasses and do a few jobs and that’s about it. DH is out playing in a concert for the rest of the day and DS is cooking dinner later so there’s nothing pressing I need to do. Maybe I’ll put my feet up and catch upon a bit of tv!
